We were given a recommendation from a friend to enroll our daughter in the Acting Corner Studio. We have been blown away by how confident she has become. We owe it all to them! They have made my daughter feel so loved. Also my daughter has not only become confident in her acting skills but she has made friends with kids of all ages. The studio is located in downtown New Westminster, you can drop off your kids and go enjoy dinner at one of the many great restaurants or pubs. I'm just really happy with my experience and was very disappointed with the rating on Yelp. They deserve more than that The first thing I'd like to say is that the coaches are all awesome with the kids. When you walk into the gym they all greet the kids excitedly, when there's an accidental head but or a finger stepped on, they are there so quickly and are so skilled at turning the bad experience good with high fives, validation, and care. They took several introductory sessions before he joined the class to have a few short sessions with him and build his confidence. This was great because on his first day he walked in knowing Coach Brandon. Speaking of confidence, the program that they have for the kids that works them through merit badges has been really awesome for my son. We just made it through the first discipline series and the conversations that we had with our four and a half year old about what each stage meant were amazing and as parents we were super happy to see him thinking about what it meant to have a goal and then executing on it, for example. Is it the cheapest activity for my kid? No. But the value extends beyond that one class a week. And I'm so happy that we took the plunge. Oh, and everyone is very, very communicative about his progress and they are flexible when you need a makeup class so you don't miss out on the valuable time. I don't get that out of a lot of other things.. like soccer... Or preschool, haha. Haven't had a single negative thing to on, it hasn't ever been like pulling teeth to get him there. When i went to Arts Umbrella from ages 10-12, it was easy to get a hold of management for any reason. There was always a manager in the building. The children there clearly enjoyed their classes, and the parents enjoyed how easy enrolment was, and seemed to enjoy the environment as well. Now? Turnover seems to be at an all time high, and management is impossible to reach. If you have a complaint, it will not be handled by management, rather the lovely Front desk workers that seem to clean up after this managers messes, and actually keep the place running. As I mentioned, I was an employee of Arts Umbrella. I took the role of Visual Arts Assistant, which meant doing all the busy work during and in between classes. I would like to add, i recieved no training, I simply signed my papers and they sent me in for my first day. The instructors i worked with? all absolutely amazing people. The lesson plans, energy, and enthusiasm were all top notch. The manager was, as i mentioned, nearly impossible to reach. She also is not interested in stepping up when were short staffed, and instead just let the instructors deal with it. I had no idea I was doing anything wrong until I was being fired. I got no feedback from my manager whatsoever. All of my coworkers said they loved me, and even the parents expressed how excited their kids were to see "Ms. Tessa". I was then given no shifts for Spring Break camps, and recieved a call a couple days ago that my employment was terminated on a "no-cause" basis. If you want to go somewhere that management actually values you as a person? Values your opinions? Even listens?This is not the place.

The gym is located in a large strip mall that's very new, so there weren't any large signs, which was mildly challenging when it was getting sundown. When you go inside, there's a large concrete area for family and friends to sit and observe from and a small front desk for you to "check in", if you'd call it that. The atmosphere is very relaxed (even the owner Chris' dogs were running about and playing with some kids), so when we first went inside to "check in", Chris called he'd be right with us after the class was finished. Not only does this place do flying trapeze, but they also have lyra hoop, aerial silks, and other non-traditional workouts available. Since there were a few of us who were new, Chris first went over with us on ground what the procedure would be step by step from climbing the ladder to the platform to the finished landing, as well as had us individually practice our move on the bar on the ground with his spotting. It was very obvious he'd explained this 1000 times given the summary he gave us and the assurance that even if we didn't remember anything he'd still repeat everything for us when we were up. Kimmie (his fiancee and fellow instructor) and he were both very kind and supportive during the entire experience, and provided great tips for us to improve on our next round of turns on the trapeze. They made great conversation while we were with them, and genuinely tried to get to know us better. I would definitely love to come back; I wish this place was closer to where I live so I could become a regular!

Every day she rattled off all the things she got to try and how fun it was. With most of these camp type things they fall short of what they advertise. In the case of West Coast Flying Trapeze, they went above and beyond, which is soooo nice and in such contrast with most businesses nowadays. They have arts and crafts for the kids who arrive early and on break, the gave each of the kids a Tee - shirt and they sent a really cute, well edited video of all of our daughter's exploits. So bottom line, our kid had sooo much fun. The safety procedures and technical training of the coaches was obvuously extensive and they were really nice and fun staff, who made our daughter laugh... Fully reccomend these guys!

Class sizes are kept small to ensure optimum training. My favourite is aerial silks. Paige, is an awesome teacher! She is strict but also very nice and pleasant at the same time, focusing on precision and safety. I also like that each student gets their own set of aerial silks to train on (that are clean and not smelly!) versus having to share with several students which I have experienced at other studios. BMS did an excellent job with the gradual transition and were very supportive for her. They were accommodating and gave us good suggestions for how we could support her. She's fully transitioned now and thriving.
