One last thing is if you are to comment on the long wait times you are told to come in earlier. Tried this my latest visit and still had to wait for a ridiculously long time. More importantly, Dr. Schechter is a rarity, a knowledgeable doctor who really cares about his patients. So many doctors make you feel like you are taking up their time and after 20 minutes you are out the door. With his gentle and clearly caring demeanor, he took his time to explain the tests and their results. For a small office, I was impressed at some of the very high tech equipment both for running the tests and for explaining the heart and its workings. It made me feel secure that I was getting cared for my a physician who was cutting edge with his knowledge but "old school" with a doctor who is a true healer and not just checking a list so that he can get reimbursed by insurance. I had a series of negative experiences with Dr. Saftchick and his office that dissuaded me from…read morecontinuing as his patient. Basically, I found him to be both incompetent and unprofessional. At my very first appointment, I asked him to examine a few places on my skin that I was concerned about, which took about 5-10 minutes. He informed me afterwards that I would be charged $125 out of pocket, because such an exam does not count as part of a checkup in my insurance plan. He also misheard me and prescribed the wrong dose of a medication that I was already taking at the time. Throughout this first appointment, he appeared underconfident, saying things like "I always wanted to do something creative. Medicine is pretty rote." When I called to get a prescription refill, Dr. Saftchick was on vacation and was using an answering service that told me the doctor on call would return my call in order to refill my prescription, but I never got a call back, even though I spoke with them multiple times. When Dr. Saftchick returned from vacation, he sent my prescription to the wrong pharmacy. His receptionist told me that she would take care of having it sent to the correct pharmacy, which she never did. When Dr. Saftchick finally got back to me about the mixup, he said the receptionist never told him about my message and when I said "oh, weird" (because, I don't know, what do you even say?) he said, rudely, "no, it's not weird, the receptionist made a mistake and we're understaffed in the middle of a pandemic." He then told me HE DID NOT KNOW HOW TO SEND A PRESCRIPTION TO A DIFFERENT PHARMACY. So I called the pharmacy and figured it out myself.
