I had been a loyal patient here for years and even recommended my husband. Unfortunately, the experience over the past two years has significantly declined. Their billing practices have become unreliable, with charges being sent to collections without any prior notice. The quality of care has also dropped--treatments now feel rushed and poorly executed. For example, Dr. Joseph performed a crown on my husband that became and remains infected, and then referred him to a subpar oral surgeon. It now feels like the focus is more on upselling unnecessary treatments rather than providing genuine care. Overall, it's been disappointing to watch the quality and trustworthiness of this practice deteriorate. Do not go here. Do not recommend ! read more

Very unfortunate place. I been going there for years all of sudden I received a bill due to my insurance didn't pay. A year after. I called to pay and they told me it's been sent to collection only for $570 I believe. I wanted to pay which I will pay the collection no problem but why it was sent there ? They told me I probably never received previous notice due to their system change. And they did actually changed their system because I they couldn't find my appointment. I will never go there again and now I wonder why all my friends I recommended them they don't go there any more. read more

Yesterday I had a dental emergency, due to my own lack of better judgement. I discovered that not only are Dots a tasty, sugary, candy convection, they are also excellent at removing dental crowns. My long time family dentist had just recently retired from the practice and in a panic I called to see if someone else could help me. Without hesitation the receptionist asked how quickly could you be here? It took me a little over an hour to drive there and immediately upon arrival was seen. Within thirty minutes, the dental emergency was corrected. I am most appreciative of Dr. Salmon taking the time out her busy day not only to tend to my emergency, but to do it so quickly and making sure I would still be able to attend a graduation ceremony that evening. Pros: Dr. Salmon is great. Friendly, kind, and good at her work. Office staff are wonderful to work with. I love that Dr. Salmon walked me through all of the options for getting braces, Invisalign, or a crown to fix a gap in my teeth, and helped me choose the most affordable and best option for my situation. At other places, they would've just pushed me to do the most expensive thing. She didn't. She actually encouraged me to do the cheapest one! They also let me know what other services I should consider doing and weren't pushy about needing to do it right away during that appointment but gave me a timeline in the however many months or years I should take care of a dental concern I had. Cons: A dental assistant, a college kid, put in my temporary crown and it pinched, hurt, and swelled for a week. When I came back, I asked for Dr. Salmon and there was no big deal about it. Also, a COVID equipment fee but most offices are doing it now. Otherwise, great place. Will definitely make this my regular go-to place in Chicago. read more

I've been a client for over 10 years with various dental insurance plans. They have service plans for those without dental insurance at very reasonable rates. Dr Joesph and his staff will do everything in their power to help you keep a recommended oral hygiene regiment, with give preventive care and education to prevent other diseases. The oral hygienists are friendly and professional. I've had several and each one gave the same personalized attention you need, especially if you have any dental or health concerns. I had a first time patient visit and was billed for a follow up periodontal visit. it has taken 7 months for their billing department to correct their records. I've called numerous times and all I get is that they had a program conversion and the visits are being billed as out of network even though they are in network. I paid $210 dollars and no one in the office has been following up with me. This has been a nightmare. The office is completely unorganized when it comes to billing. My husband has been with them for 7 years and he will no longer be seeing them. As of today I'm still waiting for a call back. read more

I have been going to Dr Salmon for several years now. The location of the office is great - close to home, close to highway, parking lot, elevator, stairs, lobby, etc. I have never had any work done on my teeth besides braces.....no cavities, no fillings, no root canals, etc. so I speak as a patient who simply goes twice a year for a cleaning and a routine check up. I have always had a great, thorough cleaning done. I used to see Kinga but she is no longer there. I have had cleanings with "B" (Beatrice) and Kat and they are both so sweet and great! They talk to you and make it more entertaining without expecting you to respond while their hands are in your mouth hahaha Their office is open late during the week which is great for me if I have to come after school or work. I would definitely recommend Dr Salmon and her team. They are great for cleanings and check ups...not sure about actual procedures and treatments but I can't complain otherwise! read more

I'd like to start off by saying that I have been seeing dr Joseph since I was a child. He is incredible and the BEST dentist I have ever had. I highly recommend him to anyone!! The poor review is for dr Salmon (however you spell her name) and the staff at the desk. About a month ago, I scheduled a cleaning with this office and specifically request dr Joseph. I came in for my appointment to find it had been canceled without anyone contacting me prior. I took a day off work to come. Not a phone call, email, text nothing! I apparently had a bill that was not paid from dr Solomon. 9 months after my initial terrible experience with her. Now let's back track. I had an emergency root canal with dr Salmon. I had to go back months later to finish the root cancel because it apparently wasn't finished (why do I need two appointment for a root canal? I should just need a crown after?) and she decided in that visit it made sense to pull my wisdom tooth that was RIGHT NEXT TO MY ROOT CANAL TOOTH. I was sent home with NO MEDS FOR THE PAIN and the worst part was I had to go to THREE different Walgreens to fill my prescription because the dose was so high. For four hours I screamed bloody murder in pain. When I called dr Solomon on her off time to explain to her how AWFUL IT HURT her reaction was for me to calm down and ask if I needed Xanax. Back to my canceled appointment, the staff at the desk suggested I see dr Salmon again for my cleaning. I let them know absolutely the hell not. I will NEVER let that woman near me again. She extremely full of herself and is very rude to her staff. She made me feel rushed and I did not once feel comfortable in her chair. I have not written a two star review in years. The office just called me to offer a cleaning with another dentist. No thanks. You lost this customer and I will Be referring everyone I know to the dental salon on north ave. Dr Khana is exceptional and I am so grateful To have found them after this horrific experience. I truly hope this review does not in anyway reflect against dr Joseph. Stay far away from Linda Salmon. She was done very quickly, was polite, and explained each step of the way and what she was doing. She was also very pleasant and nice. The dental hygienist, Kat, was also great. 5 stars all the way. I don't post reviews often, but thought it was important to share experience so it could help someone else avoid future pain and aggravation. This review is for Dr. Salmon specifically. I have been going to this dental office since college and seeing Dr. Salmon for at least 10 years, twice a year for regular cleanings. I recently visited the office for a routine cleaning and saw Dr. Joseph since Dr. Salmon was on vacation. In that visit, Dr. Joseph informed me that I needed a root canal. Why would I need a root canal if I come in for regular cleanings/xrays and not once was a problem identified? Dr. Joseph was perplexed himself and looked through my xrays and found a small cavity dating back to 2010!!! How is it that a cavity is missed twice a year for the last 9 years? When one Dr. found it within 5 mins? This could have all been avoided if Dr. Salmon looked at my Xrays and properly did her job. I'm now working through the ordeal of finding another specialist to perform the needed work and have been advised that may possibly lose a tooth! It's unbelievable. Since I have been going to this office since I was a young adult I never thought to look at reviews or consider changing dental practices. It was close to home, had late office hours and they seemed to do a good job. But not surprising, there are other negative experiences here for Dr. Salmon. If you are looking for a new dental office/dentist, I highly recommend going elsewhere. read more

Many years ago I first went to Dr. Joseph because his practice was nearby and I thought I would check him out. While the odds of finding someone good without having gotten a recommendation were probably not great, Dr. Joseph has turned out to be great. This is noteworthy because from my first visit, my own dental situation required a good amount of attention. But I found Dr. Joseph to be exceptionally skilled in all dental procedures, and this skill, knowledge and application of best dental practices has resulted in my having healthy teeth with no hesitation for a ready smile. He and his associates and staff at Associates for Dental Care are very accommodating, and in cases of an unexpected dental situation when Dr. Joseph is not in, I have been seen by one of the other excellent dentists. If you are going to be a patient of Dr. John Edgar, go ahead and relax. He is beyond competent, patient and most of all, makes sure this is pain free. Please avoid seeing Dr. Linda Salmon as she is competent and thorough but at the expense of the patient's comfort. I admit that my procedure was difficult, but being admonished that "your novacaine wears off more quickly than anyone I've ever seen" gives you a hint of what you can expect. She was a perfectionist at my expense. She would have finished no matter how much discomfort I was having. Why did I go back? I thought that being fitted for a finished bridge would be simple. It would have been except she left me for half an hour. The cold air on my teeth left me sitting in the chair with tears streaming down my face. read more

Dr. Linda Salmon is the best! I come with a lot of personal dental experience. I've had braces, oral surgery and one back dental experience that kept me out of the dental seat for 3 years. Then, when I cracked a tooth (surprise?!), my friend suggested Linda and I am thrilled. She got me in quickly, and has since addressed that cracked tooth plus some other issues and I've even whitened my teeth and have received tons of compliments. DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU VALUE YOUR HEALTH AND YOUR TEETH!!! I'll preface this by saying, I have always had problems with my teeth. It seems that no matter how much I brush and floss, I can't stop cavities from forming. I had a tooth break, so I went to Dr. Salmon hoping to take care of my dental problems once and for all. She seemed nice on the first visit and I left feeling confident that maybe this would work out. Then the horror began. I was in absolutely NO pain going in. She told me I needed three root canals. I said ok, you're the expert, and let her do them. During the procedure, she did not use a dental dam (which I later learned is standard of care). Neither Dr. Salmon or her partner in crime had their masks covering their nose, and I'm fairly certain at one point, the assistant laughed and some snot fell into my mouth. She also dropped a file on the floor, and I'm assuming they didn't use it, but after what happened, I have no idea. One root canal was on a molar, and she nearly missed an entire canal...she only found it because it was connected to a canal that she had found and she kept being like "hmm, that's weird" so drilled some more. I didn't have much pain during the root canals themselves, but two days later I was in excruciating pain. I called Dr. Salmon and she saw me the next day, said everything looks great, gave me some antibiotics and vicodin and sent me home. The next day I woke up and the right side of my chin/bottom lip was numb. I called her again, and Dr. Salmon tells me "you must have a medical problem, this can't happen from a root canal, you should probably see your doctor." Are you kidding me? First of all, I am a fourth year medical student with ZERO medical problems and fairly aware of what can cause numbness. This was obviously because of the root canal procedure, but to humor her, I did call a doctor, who verified it was a dental problem, gave me more appropriate antibiotics and said I need to have follow up with a dentist soon. So I go back to Dr. Salmon the next day. She does some xrays and finds out pretty much everything she touched is now infected. She still refuses to believe her root canals were the culprit and says she missed some chronic badness on another tooth that I wasn't having any problems with, so sends me to an endodontist she knows. I'm still in excruciating pain, and the numbness isn't subsiding. The endodontist says "we'll just wait and see...," charges me 40 bucks and sends me on my way. Now I've been sent on my way with zero follow up appointments, nerve damage, infection, and the pain isn't subsiding. I give it two more days, and am getting worse instead of better, so I decide to find my own endodontist. BEST MOVE I EVER MADE. This guy (Dr. Sim in Lincoln Park) was amazingly helpful. He said the root canals were overfilled and infected. He gave me more antibiotics and said if it doesn't clear up soon, I will need an oral surgeon to drain the infection. Well, the antibiotics didn't work, and the numbness and pain were getting worse a few days later, so I had to have a drain put into my jaw by an oral surgeon. At this point, I've dropped like 5 grand on failed root canals, specialist appointments, medications and surgery. I also missed/had to reschedule multiple residency interviews. Keep in mind, I felt absolutely fine before Dr. Salmon touched me. Now it's over a month since this began, and I just had a follow up with my awesome endodontist. EVERY SINGLE TOOTH she touched is questionably still infected. I can't get crowns. I can't chew. I'm still in mild pain and constant discomfort. If this doesn't heal on it's own at this point, I either have to have the teeth pulled or repeat root canals on all of them. I suppose there is a chance that this could have happened with any dentist. But root canals have a 90-95% success rate. She did three, two definitely failed, and one is still questionable. That's like a 0% success rate in her hands. Also, she totally blew me off when I kept pushing that I still was having pain and now had numbness. I clearly did not have a medical problem. I had a root canal. Stay away from this lady. read more

I'm sorry to see some negative reviews about Dr. Salmon because I think she is terrific. For years I had been going to that practice under the care of Dr. Edgar. As he started spending more time in his office in the suburbs, my husband suggested I go to Linda. Due to long-term usage of ace inhibitors for blood pressure, I have a rare side effect causing permanent nerve damage in my lower mouth. I spent a few hundred dollars going to a so-called orofacial pain specialist, but all he did was talk to me and never prescribe anything. In my opinion, Dr. Salmon really listens to the patient instead of disregarding complaints. (As I am a retired registered nurse, I believe I am qualified to make a valid judgment on quality of care.) She came up with new things for me to try. She researched and found a specialty pharmacy that furnishes the most effective topicals I have ever taken. These have allowed me to get off an oral medication causing side effects. When I asked for a lower mouth guard, which I expected to cost around $350, she made me an effective substitute for $50.
