On a…read moreSaturday evening in May, the building was pretty quiet save for a flutter of activity for the open studios and artist showings in this building. The theater is on the 3rd floor if I recall and there's an elevator available. Upon entering the door, signs lead to a small foyer area with a merch/flyer/marketing table, then on the left it opens up to a lounge/lobby with concession stand. There were a handful of tables and about a dozen seats. A schedule of activities was listed at the foyer area and in the lounge was a booklet with total exhibits available for the Arts Open at a number of different buildings in the immediate LIC neighborhood. Because I arrived late, it wasn't immediately apparent where to enter, and there weren't any staff immediately discernible outside the attendant at the concessions stand who didn't seem to interact with anyone outside those purchasing drinks or snacks. Thankfully one of the other attendees of the event pointed me towards the closed door on the right, when he saw me looking confused. Inside I realized this was a black box theater*, seating was in the form of stackable chairs placed on wooden risers. I climbed around the side and found a seat and enjoyed the rest of the short films. The configuration was sufficient for about 70 seats. Afterwards as our part was exiting, there were a couple friendly staff or volunteers thanking people for attending. On the same floor the theatre space was encircled by other class rooms and studios, and I wasn't sure if those were part of the same organization or just sharing the space. All in all, I'm glad to have had the chance to visit, and glad that small theaters like this exist, to nurture growing talent interested in performance and visual arts. *meaning simple, adaptable and intimate performance space, usually a rectangular or square room with black walls, where seating and sets can be reconfigured to the needs of a creative vision. Generally fitting less than 100-200 people.

By what I researched , it was created to give opportunities for artists ,which is great and also for the ones who are already in the industry to show and expanding their talent . From time to time this place comes with this wonderful Shortplay Festival . It is so exciting and so promising for the actors, directors and writers .However the competition ,turns in disappointment to see excellent work of the participants overlooked. The voting system is led from family members and friends. This current method is unfair to talented actors, writers ,and directors who give their best, but unfortunately the results depend on personal connections instead of artistic merit. A system led by qualified judges would make the festival stronger, fairer, and more true to its mission of supporting learning and creativity. Please reconsider it , to be an excellent place with fair judgments for all artists . If it continues like this ,I don't see the point of artist go through it.Thank you.

Each…read moreact had its own unique theme and atmosphere, and I was surprised by the diversity of the performers. Between the main acts, the ringmaster performs smaller tricks and brings audience members on stage; while these segments felt a little long, they were cute overall. A few tips for your visit: - There is only one general entrance (plus VIP), so expect to wait outside. This can be tough if the weather is freezing. - There is a bar & plenty of snacks, but lines get long right before showtime. Be warned that the seating is very tight. I actually regretted buying nachos with cheese because I was terrified of spilling cheese on my neighbors! - The tent was very warm (sometimes too warm). Again, the seats are super tight so I had a hard time juggling my layers, bag, food, and drinks. - Most people say every seat has a good view, but for the best perspective, I'd recommend aiming for the center middle or upper rows. - Our 6:15 PM show ended at exactly 8:25 PM (2 hours and 10 minutes), which is helpful to know for dinner reservations. My only real disappointment was the audience. The performers do incredible, dangerous stunts, yet the applause was so weak! I felt bad for them- they deserve more than a polite "clap clap" for the level of talent they show. Overall, cute and great for all ages. Highly recommend!

We sat in the 3rd to last row and we were able to see every act perfectly fine. THE NOT SO GOOD ---------------------------- - The light up toys that were sold in the Concessions area were $20 each! Talk about price mark up. Not only were they extremely expensive, but we noticed that they stopped lighting up for some people halfway through the show. - Supposedly, food and drinks are not allowed in, however, it's possible to get it in depending on how thorough security is with checking your bag. MIXED THOUGHTS --------------------------- = Nada. RANDOM OBSERVATIONS -------------------------------------- = Make sure to enter the big top through the gate assigned to your ticket as they will not let you in if you're trying to get in through the wrong gate. = Have your camera ready at ALLLLL times to record the action and take pictures!

The band had embarked on their North American tour from their native South Korea. Since I had never seen the band before as well, the adventure to a new space for me made the whole thing more interesting to me. Now I travel via the MTA, and from Bay Ridge this event space is a bit of a hike. It's the R train to the N to the 7 to a fairly decent walk. Those who are driving or taking an Uber might have a little better trek experience than I did but that being said once I made it past the famed Unisphere and over to New York State Pavilion, it was time to go into the Queens Theatre. When I arrived there were already about 100 attendees lined up because the band was doing all sorts of VIP things with them. A cool part of the agenda for sure. Inside the theatre is a spacious lobby area with seating all around near the windows. There are concessions there but I only saw drinks being sold when I looked. There was a small merchandise table for the band set up and I imagine that when other shows happen here this will be their space as well. Right off the bat I connected to a complimentary WiFi signal which was good but seemed to go on and off during the course of the performance. Once I was in the actual performance space I was quite impressed. The stage is sizable which was great because this was a five member band with a full backline and the seats were oh so comfortable. Yes this was a Rock Show and people would likely be standing throughout the performance but when it was time to sit you could do so in comfort. I positioned myself in the eighth or so row on the aisle since I needed to shoot photographs and I was happy to report that there were no bad sightlines in the theater. The sound was also clear and impressive which was partially a testimony to the bands team on the tour. While I didn't get to explore the venue all that much outside of the show, I did see one of the spacious side rooms which I guess they do talks in or smaller events. The band has set up their meet and greets there so it was in and out in terms of time to examine. There was a complimentary WiFi that I did find to be spotty at times but I feel this was based on the amount of people choosing to live stream the show. There were obviously restrooms and while I can only speak for the men's facility it was quite clean which is always a pleasant find. Overall this was a great experience for me but I cannot fathom when and if I might make a return based on the logistics and scarcity of what most interests me happening here. I will be keeping tabs on their calendar for good measure just in case and maybe some other localized Hard Rock bands can look into it or even local promoters who wish to do something that is no too crazy.

We had a hard time finding parking as the show was about to start and the park is always busy. There were two small lots nearby that were full. Upon entering check in was easy. They had a small concession stand. The seating was great with no obstructed views. The play itself was kid friendly and told the meaning and traditions of the special day. It was very informative and entertaining. I enjoyed the different styles of dances performed, the colorful outfits, the creative scenery (which was simple but effective). I thoroughly enjoyed the experience and look forward to visiting again.
