I brought in 4 different types of video media---an entire box of it. Astound Video was very professional and upfront to break down the cost and timing. They were fairly prompt to transfer all of my various media onto one memory stick. I was happy with the quality of the work and felt the cost was reasonable. It was such a relief to finally get all the old media onto a memory stick. Now I can throw away all the old media and upload the videos in the cloud and on my computer. Stopped in the store to obtain more information about getting many VHS tapes transferred. The customer service was awful and I was treated very rudely. It was very clear to me they did not want my business. Would recommend them hiring someone who has people skills with clients/customers. I will not be returning! read more

I'm very happy with my first time contact with the knowledgeable staff at Astound earlier this winter. I brought in a 60 year old audio tape (reel-to-reel) that was of great sentimental value to my family; I had no idea if it was possible to retrieve and duplicate the hour long tape - I was assured that the staff would do everything possible to recreate the memory onto a CD. Within a matter of a couple weeks the transfer was completed and the price was what I expected. The clarity of the 1959 recording is exceptional and I'll continue to use Astounds services. I could of searched for less expensive sources to duplicate the tape but I chose to rely on Astound because of their reliability preserving one-of-a-kind recordings. read more

The digitizing was well done but the customer service was disappointing. I thought film conversion meant that all the film I gave them would play back right-side up. I brought in some 8MM reels that my dad had spliced together decades ago. I was told when I picked it up that some of the video would play upside down because it'd been spliced wrong. Having already spent $300 on the conversion, I asked if they could fix it. I was told that they don't correct the inverted ones because "some people like that." It was just policy, they said, and they couldn't fix it unless I paid another $49. It was disappointing and I won't be returning. read more

Honestly, I get that the young man who waited on me was rude to me when I asked for clarification on the current sale - it was as if I had interrupted him. When I spend almost 100.00 getting three videos transferred I think it is realistic to expect that the customer would be treated with respect. read more

First time using this service, had an old 8mm film from my son's 1st birthday (1984). When I dropped it off,they said they would contact me to let me know what was in the film. They did not. Disappointed to find no audio and short video. For the $45 total, I would have chosen not to continue with the transfer. When I called about it, pretty much was told that direction( to call), was not there and sometimes those films don't have audio. Am I suppose to know that?? I discovered a VHS tape of a 1985 interview of my grandfather on the history of their small town in Kentucky. I took it to another place (large warehouse store that you need a membership to shop there) to get it transferred to a DVD and was very disappointed with the results. It was horrible quality video and audio, and much worse than the actual VHS tape. I took the same VHS tape to Astound in Coon Rapids to see if they could do better! Matt was very helpful and said he'd check the quality before he started and let me know if he didn't think they could do a good job. A few days later I got a call that the DVD was ready. Not only did they do a much better job than the first place, but I truly believe the quality of the DVD is better than the original VHS tape. I will definitely use them again, and am happy to refer friends and family. read more

They charge $29.99 sign-up fee which is not credited to the amount of your service. 3 8 mm movies would have cost $170+. Easily can get it done elsewhere for much less. Didn't use them after hearing the cost. read more
