I once called to get an estimate on why my AC wasn't working and Brian told me it totally depends on what they find that if it's something basic it could be $25 but if there was a leak it could be as much as $500. Do not take Foreign Cars here!!! My 2002 VW Jetta was hesitating when pushing on the gas and the check engine light was on. I knew Astro because it is only 2 blocks from my house. So I called to see if they worked on Jetta's - "Yes we do, bring it in we can look at it today". I brought it by, they said it was vacuum hoses on the fuel line that needed replaced. Total cost was $517 bucks. I said ok, they gave me a loaner car (90's Geo) and took a couple days to get it fixed. I thought this is great! Problem solved! Nice guys, loaner car, cool. I drive it for a week no problem, then take a 4 day vacation, come back and drive it, and guess what??? It hesitates when pushing on the gas...not once, but 3 times, almost stalling out on Alameda. So I call and say its doing the same thing as before! Not something different the same thing... Brian says to bring it in, I do, and I get the same loaner car, and the next day He calls to tell me they got it to stall out on them but they don't know whats wrong with it because they are not fully equipped to work on VW's!!! WHAT? Why didn't you tell me that to begin with? I would have taken it somewhere fully Equipped!!! Now I have to spend at least another $100 for a diagnostic Fee at a Fully equipped VW Auto shop. Thanks for the $517 bill and the same problem as before! Now I get to go have it looked at somewhere else and start all over with the initial $100 diagnostic fee. Unless you just want an oil change, take your foreign car somewhere else. read more

This place is amazing. Got my car in next day and after hours of work and many separate repairs my car was ready to be picked up the same day. I didn't even know that happened these days and expected to be taking busses for days. They called when they said they were going too and the price was much under anyone else's estimate and they also found things no one had mentioned to me prior. My car drove out of their shop better than the day I purchased it used. I will take all my cars to astro and recommend everyone else does as well! Took the car in for brake work. When they were finished, they gave me the bleeder screw from the front caliper and told me that it broke off when they were bleeding the brakes. I could be mistaken, but is it normal policy to destroy parts as part of a repair? I asked if they could put a thread repair kit in the broken screw and the guy at the counter told me it would cost too much in labor. Don' t use these guys. I've worked in auto repair for years and am too old to work on my own vehicles anymore. I can only imagine how often they sting less knowledgeable people. It is insulting to pay north of $300 for a repair only to have broken parts given back to me without any recourse for fixing THE PART THEY BROKE! read more

I have been going to Astro Automotive for over 10 years and have been extremely happy with their service. They do such a great job and their rates are very reasonable. I love going to a auto repair shop that does honest work and charges a fair price. They always call if they find something that needs my attention and explain what the issue is and how much it will cost to repair it. Recently, I took my vehicle in for an oil change. They called me to let me know that I had a bent tie rod. I was like no wonder it does not seem to drive that well on the freeway, it was pulling to the left a little. They were able to get the parts over that day and had the vehicle repaired by the end of the day. I have never found honest mechanics like Astro Auto has and I highly recommend them! read more

I am pretty skeptical of where I take my car to be repaired. As a woman, mechanics tend to talk down to me or try to oversell me, not knowing that I have a background in auto repair and am just too lazy to apply my knowledge. Astro has consistently given me straight forward information and has never tried to sell me more repairs than I actually need. I really like how quickly they get to my repairs and how well they communicate. For example, I get a email that tells me that I have booked an appointment and they call me as soon as they know what is wrong and when the job is done. Great service and a very convenient location. I recently brought my Toyota Highlander in for an oil change and because of a strange rattling noise on the under carriage. The team at Astro Automotive was GREAT! The work was done quickly and at a very reasonable price. I dropped my car off in the morning around 9, it was ready to go at 4. One of their mechanics called me to explain what they had found with the rattling and was very patient with me when I didn't understand all of his lingo. They were able to find a much more reasonable way to fix the problem rather than a costly full replacement (which I expected would be required). Overall, great experience and I will be back for my next oil change! read more

After a couple not so great experiences with other shops in metro denver I asked a friend who does all his own wrenching if he had a recommendation. He said I don't really need a shop but if I do Astro is where I go. He was absolutely right. I'm not going anywhere else again. These guys were awesome. Spoke to 2 gentleman on the phone both were friendly and helpful. Got my truck in and out in the same day with an appointment. They nailed it, and were honest with my on what I needed done and the cost. Which is not the case when I had the exact same work done previously. I brought my care in and paid the diagnostic fee. They told me I needed a fuel pump and it would be approx. 900.00 to fix. I got a second opinion from a street mechanic and I needed a sensor for the ignition. It cost me about 200.00 for parts and labor and my car has been running great for the past 9 months. Skeptical to refer them to anyone. read more

RIPOFF. They ('Brian') will try to overcharge you 50%+ more than the actual cost of the repair. Their labor rate is $102/hr. (average is $85) and they will exaggerate the labor hours needed for your repair (i.e. 3 hours for a 1 hour job). They also drastically markup the parts (to confirm this, shop around parts). Some markup is understandable as they have to guarantee the parts and possible re-installation labor but they go way beyond what's reasonable. After they inspect your car, they will give you a ridiculous estimate to see if you'll accept it. If you don't accept it, they may offer a substantially lower estimate in attempt to avoid losing your business completely (but at that point, can you trust?). Lastly, if you care about privacy, they will gather your VIN, plate number, and attempt to collect your personal information. Save your time, skip this place and get your estimate/repairs elsewhere. I was referred to Astro by a friend/tour bus company, and they have been excellent almost every time. I had several things I wanted the technicians to look at this time, such as shocks and AC/Heat, but they said they couldn't do anything for either. It's hard for me, as a small business owner, to plan time to drop my bus off, and get pick-up/drop-off back to my office. If they would have told me in advance that they don't know how to work on either of these for my kind of bus I would have taken it elsewhere, but now I have to find another time to drop it off somewhere else. That's a big thing for my company, but having said that, Tim and the front-end staff were very friendly, as always. Unfortunately, next time when I want my bus to be looked at I will probably go straight to the company they referred me to. We have to be efficient, and we need someone who can solve our problems the first time. I hope you guys get better at these things, because I prefer using your services otherwise. read more

I will get to the quick and dirty of it. Ignition lock wouldn't turn, walked next door to Astro Auto and got a quote for price and labor, which was $450. So I went home and ordered the price myself for $60 delivered. Went in the next day and got a quote for just a remove and replace of the part, I was quoted at $140. I again declined, I went home and did a little research and quickly realized this part was so easy to replace I could do it myself, with a simple Phillips head screwdriver, and being a complete amateur who can't even replace my own oil, fixed this within 15 minutes. The fact that these trained mechanics wanted to charge 140 for something that took a complete amateur 15 minutes to install correctly shows how they are out to squeeze every dime out of you and are scam artists. I'm not saying every situation will be as easy as mine, but I am saying go to any other shop besides this one, who are head and shoulders more expensive than any other shop. Also, completely nice and polite staff, I have to say that, but the best scam artists would present themselves in such a way. read more

i recently had my oil changed at a quick change place and they asked me if i wanted to have my ac charged ?my truck has 150 k miles and in the past i never had an extra 120.00 to do it, and now i did so i had it done,the guy at oil change place said the compressor must be bad because it wouldn't take a charge,he said it happens...... he gave me the name of a couple places to go, i choose astro since i could walk home from there the estimate was a thousand dollars as was the same from other shops,i set up appointment with tim there,dropped the car off by 8 am it was going to take all day thing at best,by 10 am tim called me and said it wasn't the compressor but that some other factors were preventing the ac from operating ..and that the car was ready for pick up the charge was in stead 248.00,, the ac works great and i was surprised by the honesty they could have easily charged the thousand and i would have never known the difference.....guess where I'm going back to in the future???? incredibly professional !!!! and a total pleasure to deal with....thanks so much !!!!!!!!!!!! read more
