Fish and Chips Forever. First review ever. Five Stars, fo sho. My wife and I have been stopping in at this place for years. (At least as many years as stars.) Let me name just a few of the noteworthy 5-star reasons to make this place a constant in the restaurant rotation. I put Fish and Chips at the top for a reason. I think it is the Fish Plate. I know this place is known for burgers, but the fish is extremely good. It is a good portion -- three large, golden-brown fried pieces of cod, with fries to fill, great pita/naan-ish bread and a side salad. Did I mention it comes with three pieces of Oh-My-Cod deliciousness? Do a squeeze of the lemon provided over your fish and add a dip in the tarter sauce for best results. (If tarter sauce isn't your thing, the fish is good enough without.) We have tried fish and chips all over Utah, from hole-in-the-wall to sit down restaurants. This is the best and keeps us coming back. Last time we were there the owner said he contemplated taking it off the menu because it isn't ordered enough, but promised to keep it for us. The place is always clean. The staff is always polite. The owner is always there and it shows. Is the place more expensive than most fast food fare? Probably. But you get what you pay for. The ingredients are better and consistently fresh. The fries are filling, but among the best around. The fry sauce has the perfect balance and they have it on tap right in the dining room. No asking for an extra little cup. The menu is large. It covers a wide range and almost any kid or friend can find something worth indulging in. (Fries with a twist cone or a shake is a good alternative too.) This has been our go to while we were dating, while we were engaged and right on through into marriage. Our kids are with us now too and don't even complain about the 30-minute drive to get here from Provo. (Shopping and errands in Salt Lake are built around Astro.) If there was a way to give 0 stars I would do it. I had never been to an Astro Burgers before, my daughter suggested it for lunch today. Never in my life have I been treated so poorly and with hostility. First, I understand the whole COVID-19 thing. The sign on the door ask patrons to wear them while waiting in line to order. There was no line, so I entered and began placing my order. The cashier stopped me in the middle of my order and told me I needed to have a mask on. I explained to her what their sign said on the door. She left saying she was going to get the manager. The man who came out was very inappropriate and unprofessional. I told him I would just leave then. Told him this isn't the way customers should be treated because there were MANY others in the restaurant that did not have masks on. He said I WAS NOT one of his customers. He was insisting he needed to call the CDC. I just walked out. He the said to me as I was trying to leave, "Do you know who I am?" At that point I didn't know who he was, nor did I care. He was being very aggressive to myself and my daughter. I told her to just get in the car as he still continued to follow us. At first he wouldn't leave from in front of my vehicle because he was taking pictures of my plate, I assume, then he was trying to take pictures of me. I promise this. Once again this place lets me down. They are so inconsistent in their food. Depending who is cooking it can either be one of the best burger joints or one of the worst. Let me give you an example. I went their last Saturday and the food was amazing, it would be hard to beat how well the burger and bacon were cooked and the fries were amazing (this was a to go order, I live a block away). Then I go there tonight excited for great food and j got a meal that was garbage, soggy fries, my bun was soggy as well. Let me remind you I order the same thing every time, just because someone wants ketchup and mustard only, does not mean you put triple the amount of ketchup and mustard on, it makes the bun soggy and the burger unbearable. We just moved here to Draper and were looking for a good burger place, and imagine my surprise when we found this little gem of a fast food burger joint. These have got to be the BEST tasting burgers I have ever had and that is saying something. My husband and I are from Texas. The first thing I searched for before visiting Utah was , what was Utah famous for. It said fry sauce and pastrami burgers. I asked my cousin to take us somewhere for those things and she took us to astro burgers. My husband is a big burger person and he thoroughly enjoyed his astro burger. I give this place props for accommodating allergies. I can't eat gluten or dairy and they make sure they take that seriously. For gluten free guests they do offer a gluten free bun if you like. They also have a dedicated fryer for fries which is nice. Most places will look at you cross eyed if you simply ask for something without a bun! The employees are very nice as well and they have a huge selection of food. It wasn't my most favorite burger, but it was okay. Since my last disappointed review, I've been back twice and it was good both times. That's more like it! That is why I've been back so many times! Although both times were at lunch time when the big boss (maybe owner?)was there. Apparently he should SERIOUSLY reconsider his choice in afternoon manager and probably cook! Whoever was in charge last time should not be in charge of a dust pan! I am happy with my food, all of it, and service these last two times. I will continue to go back. This was my first visit to Astro Burgers. I really wanted a hamburger and I hate In N Out. Didn't want to cross the street for Arctic Circle, so tried this place. Am I glad I did! The menu is quite extensive, with something for everyone. I asked for a recommendation, and the lad behind the counter suggested the Bacon Cheese burger. It was delish! And the fries were big and moist, not dried up things like at the first named place. The fry sauce tasted great and was in a larger cup than any fast food I've been to here in Utah. No extra charge. The dining room was more like a restaurant than fast food, with cushioned booths big enough for families. I will be returning if only to try other menu items. And the young man who helped me was very friendly. Thank you, Astro Burgers, for a delicious supper. I docked it one star only because I haven't tried anything else yet. I love the Bacon Cheese Burger! The Astro burger is great too! I am picky when it comes to my fries, and I love Astro Burger's fries! The only complaint I had was the fry sauce, I had to add some ketchup to mine because they had put too much mayo in it making it really light in color, which made it not as tasty. Astro is very delicious and quick to provide your food. The only thing I strongly recommend a change on is their cups and lids. They either don't go well together or they're defective. Every time I get a drink cup and put a lid on it, the slightest pressure I put on to the cup when holding it, creates a gap that makes it spill all over my hands, blow onto my clothes, and/or leak onto my car seats or interior. Management at this store is a disgrace to the Astro Burger Chain. The franchise should end their relationship with this store owner. I brought my frequent customer card to this location knowing I only had to purchase one more meal in order to get a free one. So my wife and I went and we ordered 2 meals thinking we would get 1 of them free. The store owner, at least he said he was the owner, said I needed to use it next time in a very irritated manor. I'm like what is the difference and plus we came to your store because we thought one would be free. I said I might as well go somewhere else so the store owner took my filled out card and ripped it up. So now I can't even use it at a different store. I would not recommend this place to anyone. Go to Astro Burgers at your own risk. Here is why : I'm buying a new set of tires for my car a block away in Salt Lake City and my wife and friend and I are deciding where to go to eat. I walk down the block and find Astro Burgers and decide to look at the menu to decide if we want to eat there. After looking at the menu I also needed to use the WiFi. And the employee told me how to log into it. So I took about ten minutes before walking back to my wife and friend to sit quietly at the booth and do that before I walking back to get my car and those I was with from Discount Tires. After about five minutes this older guy ( Whom I would later discover was the owner) comes over and stands over me. He tells me an employee sent him over. He says doesn't want me there and to leave. I ask who he is and he tells me its none of my business. I ask what employee sent him. He said he wouldn't tell me. I tell him I don't know him and to just leave me alone. Then he says if I don't leave he will call the police. I did nothing wrong and all I was doing is sitting quietly minding my own business so I get up to find an employee and her grabs me and I must push him off me and tell him stop touching me. The employees there watched and they could only tell me their manager was not there. They said there was no one in authority. But they did nothing to tell this guy to stop harassing me nor to stop his assault both physically and verbally on me for no reason. I asked for corporate number so I could complain and they refused to give me their number. Not being in a good situation I finished what i was doing and left within the next 4 minutes. When I got back to the tire place the owner has in fact called the police. It was then police who told me it was the owner harassing me. Although I was the one being harassed and assaulted the owner tried to tell the police I assaulted him. If pulling away when someone grabs you without your permission is assault we are in a sad world. So eat there only at your own risk. So we instead went spent our $50.00 at Arbies. Places like Astro Burger make Salt Lake City a miserable place to do business with. read more
