I loved The one with mango and cucumber the most. We also had a Octopus appetizer, served cold in rice vinegar. Wasn't that impressed because it was so chewy. Tasted great just the texture was too much for me. pros: BYOB, great sushi, a lot of different menu options that you don't always see in this area, clean. Cons: the space is very stark/cold. Literally cold - do not sit by the door as there are flashing neon lights and a bad draft. The music is very low so everyone can hear you talking and well, when we there it was kenny G. There is literally an echo because of the lack of warmth in this place. The food makes up for it though. Our waitress was very sweet and everything was delivered nice but it took a while! I do like that sometimes though so it's not necessarily A con. When we left (9:30 pm on a Saturday night) we left an empty room. I mean we could have walked out with the cash register. Nobody there. It was a little weird like we were the last of the night?! I think it's just the location is bad. The food is good! Really good! Solid take-out options for work lunches if you're sick of hoagies, pizza or salad. And they deliver! Great value, especially with their lunchtime bento boxes. Most recently I needed to organize a work lunch for 8 people. I faxed over my orders the afternoon before and they called to confirm the timing. I had to add an extra order the next day and still, everything was perfect. I have also eaten there at lunch time and it's a nice quiet place to have conversations. Great little sushi spot located on a quiet street with a huge menu and great sashimi! I ordered the sashimi appetizers, edamame, and two special rolls. The food was ridiculously cheap for how good it was. The sashimi appetizers was around $8.95 for 12 pieces of sashimi (tuna, white tuna, salmon, and yellowtail). The two special rolls were very tasty, but I didn't enjoy the sauces on them. The banana tempura/spicy tuna roll in soy wrap was fantastic. Huge roll for only $6.95, unbeatable. I've been to many sushi places over the years. A few were really high end sushi restaurants in Philly and NYC. Asuka is my go to local sushi place. My family sticks with rolls, we do some raw fish and some tempura. Asuka has always provided fresh fish and never had a bad experience. The tempura is fine. I guess compared to the hi end places the shrimp and batter aren't as good but I'm not complaining because I'm not paying as much. The food quality is 4 star but my experience has been that even though I'm order ahead for take out I always seem to be waiting for the food past the time they said it would be ready. So if you order take out and aren't starving go for it. The sushi roll selection is creative and has something for everyone. If you want faster service maybe not. read more

This is my weekly go to restaurant for sushi. It's in a small hole in the wall location with very little seating, but the sushi is fresh and outstanding. Price is very fair and you can easily enjoy sushi on the half off menu side vs the specialty rolls menu. This place by far makes the best California rolls. read more

My usual sushi/sashimi "goto" is Yokohama in Maple Shade, but I did not have a ride this time, when my fix for raw fish manifested, so I looked up the available options on Uber Eats. As such, this might be cheating, but I'm just going to go ahead and copy/paste my review of the original restaurant, which now comes up as CLOSED. ***** A coworker and I went to Akira for lunch today. We each ordered a bento box, which included miso soup, a choice of entree (chicken teriyaki for her, shrimp teriyaki for me), white rice, a salad with ginger dressing, a California roll and two shaomai. Boxes were $8.95 each, which I think was a great deal for the amount of food. (Except weirdly, I only got 3 shrimp. Is shrimp that much more expensive than chicken? Because my friend got a pretty decent sized piece...) Though I thought the food was good, not great, I did really enjoy my meal. It was speedy enough for us to get in and out in about 35 minutes, it was hot, it was filling. Despite the skimp on the shrimp, I will definitely go back. Update: The last couple times we went in on our lunch break, we called in our orders ahead of time, and our food was waiting on the table for us when we got there. Also, I just found out today that they deliver for orders over $10. Amazing sushi rolls for a great price. Try the shooting stars appetizer, you will not be disappointed. The rolls are by no means skimpy. I was worried the 50% off rolls would be small and bland but I couldn't even finish my meal there was so much food. This is a must for sushi lovers. Some of the best sushi I've ever had. We are obsessed with sushi and extremely picky and I refuse to order it from anywhere now but Asuka. Sushi is fresh and SO tasty (we always get spicy crab and shrimp tempera). Ramen is delicious and you get your option of broth. Hibachi is great too. They give you a lot of food and package it so well. Stumbled into this sushi place after finding out our usual place closed. Asuka is located in the larchmont shopping center by the 711. It is a small place with a few tables, and an open sushi bar. At first glance we were a little hestitant on staying and eating but I'm super glad we did! The prices were phenomenal, I got gyoza, a spicy salmon crunch roll and a spicy crab avocado roll for under 20 dollars. The food was excellent and came out very quickly. Although Megu used to be an overall decent sushi experience the quality of the sushi and their food has gone down considerably. I have only tried this place for pick-up but I can't wait to try their dine-in. They have great lunch and dinner combos of sushi and other japanese meals at a great price. Their fish is fresh and their rice and overall sushi and rolls quality is great. Although I have only been there for pick-up the ambiance is modern and clean, while the staff seems attentive and cordial. We have been to this place several times. Usually, it is very quiet. The staff are always nice and the food is very good. The spicy crab salad was well received by my brother in law. We always get the beef negamaki which is very good. There are several rolls, like the casino roll, which have been great each time. The presentation is very good. In fact, it's excellent. There are lights and flowers and artistic drawings on the plate. The dishes come in varying sizes and shapes which helps with the presentation. Wish I could give zero stars because that's what they gave me - nothing. Have been a loyal Wasabi patron since they opened about 7 or 8 years ago. But my wife recently had a few friends recommend trying this place. So for our normal Friday sushi night we figured we would give it a try. Was pretty excited to try some of the interesting rolls on the menu so called in the order. They told me 15-20 mins till it was ready. Had my wife stop there about 20 mins later on her way home and she called me asking if I was sure I called that place. Told her what I ordered and they said "oh yeah, we have that order but didn't put it through yet. Do you still want it?" Reluctantly she said yes, I'll come back for it in a little bit. We met and ran an errand and all went back to pick up the order. When I went in the girl said we haven't put it through yet but do you still want it? I don't know if I'm more upset that they seemed so flustered and incompetent to handle the simple process of taking and making an order (which is what I thought is really the only process in a restaurant) or that I was excited to try something new and instead ended up with no dinner. Either way, I have learned my lesson: Wasabi rules and they are they only ones in town worth the business. read more
