We didn't need enough to get a "free" box or anything else so we picked what we wanted and left. These aren't expensive, but they aren't cheap either. What a fun place to walk around and look. This is an intimate restaurant away from the more touristy areas around the cathedral. The…read morerestaurant is open every day except Sunday and Monday. We arrived a bit early on Saturday evening and found it was still closed. We returned after 6:30 PM and found it was open. There are only about 8 tables in the restaurant. It seems to be run by a couple. The man/husband works in the kitchen, and the woman/wife works in the dining area. We are asked if we had a reservation when we arrived. We did not, but we were seated immediately. There was a board with the daily recommendations. The restaurant specializes in Alsacean fare. We began our meal with an apertif: one glass muscat and one glass cremant natural. For our dinners, we selected items from the daily board. We choose a salad that was prepared with grilled sausage and a 2nd meal which was oxtail salad (oxtail served cold with tomato, pickle, and egg). The oxtail also came with roasted potatoes that were prepared fresh. With the dinner, we shared a pitcher of Alsacean pinot noir. For dessert, we had the tarte prepared with local mirabelles, almonds, and a scoop of ice cream. The dessert was almost ruined though as one of the other diners in the restaurant had ordered a cheese dish and the smell of the cheese was overpowering for a short while. I have only nice things to say about the restaurant. The only negative I can point out is that the restaurant is small and when it filled with patrons, it was quite warm. I would love to come back here again when it is cold and enjoy the warmth of this place and the generous hospitality of it's owners. Also, given how small the place is, a reservation does seem like a good idea.

It's located on a small street in the old city and has about 50-60 varieties of cheese from around France. I love French cheese and they make amazing stuff. Brushing up on my vocabulary was essential to shop and taste here ;-)) Service is very friendly and prices are not too bad. If you are looking for great cheese in town, I would put this place on your must visit list. Can't wait to go back here again.

We selected a nice marzipan-filled milk chocolate log kind of thing & purchased a decorative box to bring back for family The marzipan log was okay - the almond flavor was very subtle & I am thinking the dark chocolate would have been a better pairing.....and they had that on offer so I'll put it to the test next time The decorative box never made it to the family - I just couldn't resist the cute houses, doggies and foiled chocolates in both dark and milk varieties.
