Watching the sunrise from the patio was breathtaking.No need to drive anywhere. I loved the little laid back restaurant downstairs. The bartenders were friendly and they often had live music. They are also pet friendly. This is a family owned spot so don't expect the Marriott. But at the same time you get a pretty full kitchenette equipped with cups, silverware, plates and sink as well as the usual fridge and microwave. There was plenty of parking. If you can't find parking, there is another lot across the street. This spot is clean, welcoming and a perfect view. I will definitely return. The staff made me feel right at home.

Our stay at Sand Rose Beach Resort was just okay overall. We have stayed here for several years…read moremainly because of the location. It was great when it was La Quinta. The hotel is right on the beach, situated between Clayton's Beach Bar & Event Venue and Barry's International. It is also within walking distance to the South Padre Island Birding, Nature Center & Alligator Sanctuary and Sea Turtle, Inc. The hotel also offers a great free breakfast, and the staff is always super friendly. The pool was not that great for lounging around. Our room had a very strong mouthwash-like smell. The room itself was clean, although the baseboards needed a serious cleaning. The overpowering minty odor was noticeable every time we walked in, and there was also a faint sewer smell on and off throughout the hotel and in our room. We experienced similar odor issues last year as well, except then it smelled more like a strong cleaning product similar to Fabuloso. In addition, our key cards had to be rekeyed, and several other guests seemed to be having the same issue. Also, if you are staying above the first floor, be prepared for a very slow elevator. Overall, we enjoyed the location and friendly staff, but with the recurring odor issues, the pool area, and the maintenance inconveniences, we are not sure if we will stay there again.

To be fair she gave him 2 warnings and then the 3rd...you're out of there ha!! I liked she put him in his place after he started bothering me and continuing to talk about inappropriate things. A great spot to feel safe for my ladies since they handle their business well. Great crowd, very intimate and crammed between 2 other bars with a great view of the water. The bartender was able to do espresso martini and carajillos which are very hard to find. It feels like one of those spots you never knew you needed in your life but somehow you stumble upon this gem and can't stay away. The bar is a bit high up. So us petite ladies have to do the parkour to get in and out of the seats. But I'm game. Be careful petite and uncoordinated ladies on your step down when you leave. Make sure to ask for Kim. She knows many drinks that others won't serve in this area. I did see it get slower on service as the night progressed but I'm willing to wait for this place since I'm on island time when I'm here and staff/crowd was a blast.

My mom truly enjoyed the swimming pools and jacuzzi. The entire facility was clean, friendly and safe. The security only allowed for people with reservation to enter the parking lot. If you are ever planning on visiting South Padre Island I recommend staying at one of their properties especially the Saida buildings.

The beds were comfortable and the clientele was nice. Unfortunately this time we stayed the beds were less than comfortable. Our bed was sloping to one side and as hard as a slab of concrete. In addition to that the linens were threadbare. As we were leaving to the beach one day 2 homeless women checked in. At the pool there were families but they were smoking joints and blaring loud music. All in all I won't be back. I'll spend the extra money and stay at a VRBO. I'm attaching the copy of the receipt because we were charged a resort fee. A resort fee at a motel? Really?

We saw so many dolphins, and we're so close to them--one pod swam right up to the bow as soon as we left the docks. The captain knew all the birds and gave us a lot of info about the ecosystem and how humans interact with the coastal plains and marine life. We also went by the breakers to see turtles--apparently that's where this captain and others find and rescue any injured or trapped turtles. Why did we cancel the other reservation for this one? This tour respects the animals--no caged or cooler kept animals passed around like show and tell. This tour is eco friendly. As avid scuba divers, it matters to us that businesses don't abuse animals or natural resources for tourist profit. This is a clean operation that supports and defends the wildlife. Totally worth it--and we saw several pods of dolphins--win, win, win!
