Had an absolutely spectacular meal at Atelier a few days back! Was so amazing I forgot to take pix! So I guess you will just have to take my word for it: Atelier's still is rockin' it after all these years. Check it out when you're in the neighborhood (or even you're not!).

    Elk (Wapiti) w polenta

Checked this out for restaurant week. It can be easy to walk past but yes, it's there somewhere! I chose: tartare, wapiti (elk), and berries for my courses. The tartare was like, tangy. Almost like a salad that has a bit too much dressing on it. I've had tartare in Paris, so, I know the real deal. The elk was coated in a sauce that was (again) tangy, I'm kind of curious how it tastes without all the sauce. I don't get sauce on my steak, either. The meat was much softer than steak and lean. My chosen side was polenta and it was alright. I honestly have a really good Youtube video of a recipe and it's really really good and simple, too. The berries dessert was nothing but a few berries and some whipped cream. I was expecting something a bit more exciting given the prices at this place and how bougie they seem to be. I just don't get missed opportunities like this. I can go to a grocery store and get berries & whipped cream. It's just stupid to decided to serve something so basic and low effort in a high-end restaurant. Plus the blueberries were SO sour I couldn't even eat them. I'm shocked a vodka soda (no brand requested so it should have been the house vodka) was $16.50. Are you kidding me? When I was talking to a friend at the table about perhaps asking for a taste of two wines she was contemplating, the server seemed to get pissed off about that. Not only is this ok for customers to do, I ask for tastes in much more basic restaurants than this place, so why would an overpriced restaurant like this have a problem. I'm quite taken back by that and really didn't appreciate that choice of attitude. Oh and the 20% gratuity is already added, so it's not like she had to earn it, which is part of my problem with adding the tip. Now I can't choose what I feel is fair based on their service. My total ended up being $125 all-in for an average meal. Won't be on rotation for me.

I had been extremely excited about visiting this spot with driends. We ordered a Rioja which was splendind. The escargot appetizer was absolutely beautiful. It wasn't over-seasoned or covered in cheese, so you can actually taste the earthy flavors of the dish. We also got some smoked salmon and it was quite delightful. The entres we ordered were the Lamb, filet minot and chicken. The filet minot was wonderful! But the lamb I ordered was a wee over-cooked. The sauces on top were a little overwhelming and the lamb flavor was lost. The foie gras also did not meet my expectations. Our server, Krsitine, was very attentive and our glasses were never empty. I think next time I visit, I'll have the sauces of the meats on the side.

I ALMOST feel bad rating this place badly after 1 pre-fixe wine-pairing dinner with a winery that was largely responsible for the bad experience -- but it is what it is. For $150/pp, we got pretentious down-the-nose looks, the shortest pours I've ever seen at a wine event, sales pitches to buy more wine, and zero interaction with the wine reps (who were eating dinner together with the chef at their own table the whole time -- didn't speak to them once). I go to winery-sponsored dinners all the time, and this one was the most disappointing and least enjoyable. Stags Leap Cellars -- if you're wondering about the winery. The food was good, but nothing special. The chef may be "famous" and a Denver "institution" -- but I can see why none of my food blogger, influencer, or frequent diner friends have even heard of this place. Judging by the age of most of the guests, you gotta be part of the long-standing "in" crowd to come here. The only thing that saved the evening was the heartfelt, committed service of the restaurant staff itself -- or this would be 1 star.

    Lobster Ravioli

4.5. Came by for dinner during Restaurant Week and overall had a lovely meal. Service was a bit rushed, but that was understandable given the big crowd. We both got the lobster ravioli for the appetizer course and it was really tasty -- just wish there were more than one ravioli! For mains, I got the salmon with caper beurre blanc and my SO got the bouillabaisse. I loved the salmon! Not fishy at all, tons of flavor, and the lentils were delicious. I didn't try his bouillabaisse (allergy), but he said it was pretty good. For dessert we went with the tiramisu and the lemon zest cheesecake. The tiramisu was amazing. The cheesecake was very non traditional and unique. We also finished about three bread baskets and the house red. Those bread baskets were a game changer and allowed us to leave feeling full. We were seated at a table near the counter and a staff member working behind the counter, on multiple occasions, was staring at us, listening to our conversation, and then interjecting. The first time it just seemed friendly, and then it got strange. It was quite uncomfortable and put a damper on the overall ambiance. Besides that, I enjoyed the setting and the charm of the restaurant!

I'm already planning my return to this wonderful restaurant! I tried their food with a friend for restaurant week and was amazed by the quality, portions, service, and overall value. Everything was delicious and a slightly unique variation of classic French dishes. I particularly loved their soup of the day, the foie gras with citrus jelly, and lobster ravioli.

Overall, I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a quality French dining experience during restaurant week. There are plenty of other restaurants in the area that offer better food portions and offerings. Our group of 8 partakes in several locations during restaurant week. This one is the weakest in terms of portion size, drink menu, and offerings. When they say ravioli, they really do mean that in singular term. The food is good, it's clear there are talented chefs here.

Wonderful French inspired dinner at Atelier. My parents are regulars to this restaurant and I finally tried it tonight for the first time. The atmosphere was casual yet classy, and the service was friendly and attentive. We split the mussels as an appetizer and ordered meats for the main. The mussels were delicious in a savory garlicky tomato broth, which paired perfectly with the delicious bread. For the mains, we tried the elk, lamb chops and pork chop special. All three were served with broccoli rabe, kale and a starch (potato gratin or grits). Of the three, I was most impressed by the Colorado lamb chop, I felt the pork and elk were a bit on the salty side (maybe because of the demi glace?). We concluded the meal with coffee and warm chocolate cake. Overall a terrific meal that I would definitely try again.

I was so excited to hear my husband had reservations here for my birthday after knowing how much I wanted to eat here. It has been on my list of restaurants I wanted to eat at for years. We walked in on windy Wednesday, on the news said there were hurricane force winds that went up to 100 mph in some areas. We walked into a nearly empty restaurant where we were told our seats were outside because all the reservations were taken. When we said we had reservations and arrived a half hour early, we were firmly told all the tables were taken. They sat us in the corner, closest to the heat lamp where our server turned it on and said this was the best she could do. While the outdoor seating area was covered with a weighted tarp, it wasn't one that could zip or keep the wind out so all the dirt and leaves blew in with every wind gust. The 15 minutes we sat there looking at the menu in the dim lighting, there was already an ankle high pile of leaves by our feet while the wind kept smashing the tarp into the building causing a loud clashing noise of metal. The people who would walk in after us, and still got a table inside, gasped in fear at the loud noises every-time the tarp smashed into the building. When we told our server that people who came after us got tables inside, but asked why we were seated outside, she simply said "you can go somewhere else if you like." Had we not been in the middle of a pandemic and restaurants accepted walk ins, this is where we would have left. However, booking this reservation weeks out, there were no same day reservations available anywhere. Our server comes out again and said she found a table for us and eventually moved us inside. What an awful start of an experience! But once we got situated and ordered, we were having a better experience. The food was phenomenal! We ordered a couple appetizers like the escargot, the veal tenderloin for dinner and everything was cooked to perfection. The portions were decent, the meat was tender, each dish was so flavorful, and I couldn't say enough good things about the food. Honestly, it was one the best meals I've had. Unfortunately, the rude service we had inside, which we had a different server inside, and our experience when we arrived, took away from our overall positive experience here. When you're going to a nicer restaurant you're wanting great food AND great service and I cannot say I found both here.

I don't throw around the word "franchise" lightly. But I walked out of Mango Mango Dessert on Colorado Blvd genuinely researching whether I could open one in centennial or south area. That should tell you everything. The crepe cake is what got me. Thin crepe after thin crepe, stacked with cream, and somehow light enough that you don't feel like a monster for finishing it. We also grabbed some to bring home... which lasted about 20 minutes if I'm being honest. Perfect end of night dessert. Here is the thing though... this place doesn't feel like it was built for an American audience. It feels like someone picked it up directly from Asia and just set it down on Colorado Blvd, completely intact. The flavors, the presentation, the whole experience... it's the real deal. Not a watered down approximation of what Americans think Asian dessert tastes like. The actual thing. Now the lines. They are long. At all hours.
