Athelstone Uniting is a really friendly church - when we first went there both my wife and I were happy to find them inviting, without being pushy and trying to get us 'in'. There's a morning service, and a more casual youth oriented service in the evening on Sundays, a kids club on the last Friday afternoon of the month, community lunch on Thursdays, and a whole range of community oriented events, including the Christmas tree exhibition, an annual flea market and fete, small group studies, and the famous International Dinner which see's people visiting from all over Adelaide to participate.
Athelstone Uniting Church, as a congregation, really reaches out to the surrounding community in so many ways. Recently they have developed a structured garden for passersby to rest in, and have been regular participants in the Adelaide Christmas Lights competition. The minister, Reverend Bob, is easygoing and a pleasure to chat to, and gives uplifting sermons that share his good sense of humour.
