For once I did some competitive bidding for what I expected to be a fairly costly job - tearing up both tile and wood floors in my downstairs and replacing with vinyl tiles. I invited A1 to bid because I received a flyer from them some months earlier and they touted their variety of flooring options. The second invitee has done work for me previously, quite satisfactorily. The third had worked for my neighbor who highly recommended them. After an extended bid process, I chose A1 despite the fact that they were the middle-priced bidder. The reason was that Carlos Delira, the owner, made 3 visits to the house to asses the job and develop the bid. His attention to all anticipated details gave me confidence that nothing would arise in the course of the work that would lead to additional, unexpected costs. The other bidders merely measured the square footage, did some voodoo and came up with a number. As for A1, the costing calculations were fully transparent, ie, demolition was $X/SF, installing wood would be $Y/SF, installing tile would be $Z/SF. Repair of damage to subflooring would be additional at a set cost. Because I was undecided as to how much of the existing flooring to replace, the A1 approach allowed me to sit alone and calculate how each potential configuration would cost me. I frequently texted Carlos with questions and he always responded same day. The job was scheduled promptly upon signing the deal and it was completed within the stated time frame. The demolition was done by hand instead of machine, keeping the mess to a minimum. The installation was perfect. The detail work (baseboards; quarter round; paint) was done carefully and quickly. To get through with a minimum of delay, Carlos came by on a Sunday to touch up. There have been no punch list items. Unequivocal recommendation. read more

Very sad company. I tried to order tile. The woman didn't know how to do it on the computer or have a real form for me to fill out. So I wrote info on a sheet of paper. My name, phone, the tile, color, size. What I assumed was the info needed. She would call me with the order. No call so a couple days later I went back in to check. She couldn't find the sample number. So again she'd call when she got a quote. No call. A week later when I dropped by to check on my order she had lost her tile board, couldn't find the sample number, and couldn't contact the company to order. I calmed her down, found her board and her sample number, rewrote everything out for her and had her call the company right then. Turns out her estimate was $9 sq/ft off. Pretty huge. So needless to say I didn't order from her and consider myself lucky. No idea how long it would have taken to get installed. read more

The installers were good and personable. But their scheduling needs some work. The molding around the fireplace has decided to come loose and needs to be replaced and glued. It took seven months to get warranty repairs done. I installed floating Bamboo flooring, not laminate. I will do this one myself. read more

Aside from problems with the scheduling, I love their work. Had them install laminate floors in my condo. The guys who did the installation worked hard and were good to be around. They were even nice to my dog. My only complaint is that they are really bad at scheduling. The estimate was done on time, but both delivery and installation had to be rescheduled by them without explanation. But the floors are in and look great. read more

I would not recommend Athens Custom Flooring. After they installed our bamboo floors, I noticed cracks in the transitions the same day. I contacted them and they said we would need to contact lumber liquidators for a replacement (as if the wood was bad). They were in good shape when we bought them. I believe it was an installation issue. A few months later I contacted them via email about gaps and spacing issues in various places. No response. I contacted them again weeks later and they responded that they'd get back with me in the new year when things slow down. They did and sent out a technician. He said it wasn't an easy fix and that he'd get the manager to call me back. I never heard from them. I am going to continue trying to contact them but I don't have high hopes. Bottom line: they don't stand by their installation. read more

i got into a car accident with their company van and their driver is not insured. Carlos Delira the owner of this company told me he is going to pay for the damage because their insurance wouldnt pay for it. couple of weeks later he stop answering my txt and my calls. he keeps on lying. i wouldnt trust this company nor the owner. read more
