Stayed at Safety Harbor Resort and Spa and made the mistake of walking over here after hearing there was a 15 minute wait at the hotel restaurant. We were able to sit down right away and noticed they were busy so there would obviously be a wait for food. We received our drinks within a reasonable amount of time although we waited 1 hour and 30 minutes and noticed 4 other tables served their food before us even though they sat down well after we did!!!! There was a solid 4-5 empty tables by the time we left along with other frustrated patrons After NOT getting an update from the Server when we were asking the ETA on the food or even if the kitchen was working on order yet. We became frustrated and discussed leaving without food. Shortly later, we're hearing the staff arguing amongst each other. We just left without food and just had to drop cash for the drinks. HORRIBLE service. We walked down the road and stepped into Ben's Paradise Restaurant and they were just as busy, if not, busier. I reluctantly had the Mediterranean omelette, wondering how it would be with lamb in it, but it ended up being the best omelette I ever had! And I love the prices at this restaurant. I don't have many places I go to eat because there are few restaurants left with decent prices, and now I have found a place I can add to my list! Servers are also friendly. Really good breakfast spot right on Main St.

I can tolerate bad food when the service is good. When the wait staff is rude AND the food is bad, this restaurant has no redeeming qualities. When I ordered my food, I added a side of home fries to my meal and the waitress said "you're gonna eat ALL that?" Her rude comment literally made me want to leave the restaurant. When the food came, it wasn't even good. The strawberries were mushy and had no flavor and the bacon tasted like dog food. When I didn't eat it, the waitress proceeded to tell me that I ordered too much food and she knew I wasn't going to eat it all. I will never be coming back here and unless you enjoy being shamed for the food that you order, I don't recommend anyone come here. read more

A family owned restaurant with owner Raya and her sister Debbie serving the best breakfast food in the area. Large dining areas, so I have never had to wait for a table. There is a water bowl out for the animals.the servers are all friendly..one even brings dog treats out.its a friendly cafe in a friendly envitonment about 3 blocks from the spa and water.nice area to walk and stop in while shopping in the small shops along the street..there is inside dining and cafe style..there are outside small tsbles on the sidewalk about 5..we usually order the countryfried steak eggs and biscuit gravy for $6,75 its a nice little day out.. read more

I have been here many times in the 25 years I have been living in Safety Harbor Florida. The food has always been just adequate, but a friendly, hometown atmosphere. Today, as Pinellas Co. reels with the Delta Covid surge and hospitals and ERS are full, they refused to wear a mask so that I and my family could eat safely outside. I was told,"Our governor says we don't need to wear masks, so we do not wear masks." My response - "If you don't are about my safety, I will not eat here now or ever again." read more

On vacation for a wedding in Safety Harbor we were looking for a decent affordable breakfast. Athens didn't disappoint. We ate here everyday except 1x as we were headed out early and didn't have time for breakfast. Eggs cooked perfectly, coffee was hot, bacon was crispy. They butter the toast for you so if that's not something you like let them know. For 4 people to eat our bill was $30. Can't beat that! read more

Everything came as ordered and tasted wonderful. The server was very friendly, as was everyone else working there, and always timely with the coffee warm up. I noticed quite a few local regulars. Only one bad experience when there was not enough sausage gravy on the steak and biscuits and when asked for more told no but table next to us got extra. Fries are hot. Most staff are friendly. Watch out for hidden service charge on your final bill. No idea what that is for. Assume a hidden tip but may be wrong. read more

The servers were ok...reading some of the other reviews...I agree they are not super friendly hover over you....but the are nice, quick, and what I would say is diner friendly. I ordered the Greek feta omelet and home fries. It came out quick snd hot. I think the taste was ok...but a little bland. I gauge blandness if I need to add any salt and pepper. The omlete needed a little extra salt and pepper. The home fries needed some crystal/tobasco sause. I will go back again. read more

Some of the reviews about this place are really dumb. They don't get that this is a bonafide Diner. It is inexpensive, good and amazingly friendly. One review said they were disappointed with dinner. Athens isn't even open for dinner. Another review said no one was there- a bad sign. That is because the place isn't necessarily known for lunch (although their cheeseburgers are great), and the obviously missed the crowds that descend upon it for breakfast. Another lame brain review said it was time for a brand refresh. This isn't Cracker Barrel- it's a family owned diner. The best way to describe it is this- if you are on vacation, you probably are looking to spend big bucks on the seashore for breakfast. Its a shame that I feel I have to write such s negative review however, here I am. When walked in & were seated. It was very busy in there this was clear. After about 10 minutes, I walked up to the counter to see who our server was... Then a server came up and confronted us very abruptly stating that "I'm sorry guys but as you can see we are very busy". We said we understood however, I did say "wow" as I was shocked that she would speak to us in he manner that she did. She confronted me due to my remark and j told her that I understood they were very busy and we've been severs before but she didn't need to speak to us like that. She then continued to arguing with me so we decided to leave. She said "good!". Who says that to a customer. When I approached the counter to speak to the manager I was informed by the same server that she was the manager AND owner!!!! This is how she treats her customers?!?! Unfortunately, she lost 4 - 8 customers by her actions and will not recommend this establishment. read more
