Cab driver called, said he had to warm up his car before he would head out for the pickup. That was AT the pickup time. I had called 45 minutes earlier to schedule the pickup. Then driver called again to say that he couldn't find the location. At that point, we were already in our car; late and fending for ourselves. As a result, the typical "taxi" is a vomit-soaked jalopy that looks like it's being held together with duct tape and optimism. Anyone who has used a real taxi has no idea what they're getting into in Athens. You're better off walking, hitchhiking, waiting for the bus or simply sleeping under a bridge. It's probably still safer and more sanitary than getting into one of these rolling wrecks. It's an embarrassment to the city, and the whole system should be torn down and rebuilt from scratch, but I'm sure somebody is paying off somebody else to ensure that never happens. Beware.
