Exceeded expectations - rabbit pappardelle, cooked from the heart served in a small intimate space with real atmosphere. We were visiting Chester for two nights and knew in these Covid times we should book a place for supper. We Googled and consulted YELP and the Atina kitchen had as we now know excellent reviews and sounded interesting and personal. From the moment we walked in and Hannah came to our table our expectations were exceeded. The pappardelle rabbit pasta was a delight and the sauce we guess had been cooked for hours. We followed our simple but brilliant pasta with afogato a dish I have not seen on a menu for decades which had fantastic espresso and a scoop of raspberry ripple again not seen this on a menu for decades and vanilla ice cream. The staff were all very personable and the chef/owner we deduce not only still enjoys cooking but also runs a brilliant individual restaurant in a city of many choices. Popped into this cafe on the spare of the moment for an early lunch. It was a raceday at Chester so everywhere was going to be busy. Despite this, they had tables available and we were promptly seated. I ordered a 3 egg omelette with mushrooms and spinach served with some sweet potato fries. I can't fault the food at all, everything was tasty and ingredients seemed to be of high quality. My friend had a burger which was nicely cooked and presented - with a steak knife holding it together like a dagger. They brought us a bottle of chilled tap water for no charge, and I also had a filter coffee which was pleasant enough. Almost a five star venue, just a couple of failings prevent this. I had to ask for the bill and the card machine a few times, service was slightly patchy in this regard. I would also expect a venue of this type to have wifi - and they don't! read more

After only living in Chester for a few months, I´ve somehow walked past this place several times with much curiosity. It´s one of those places that you just can´t quite put your finger on. The decor is an eclectic mix of italian bits and bobs and their posters outside offer ¨theme nights¨ which is normally something that I steer clear from... But Atina is a place that came up time and time again on several internet searchs for a decent brunch in Chester. So with the reviews of many, and my love of breakfast in the afternoon, I gave Atina a go. This has been one of the best decisions I could have made as a new resident of Chester, because I now, have a new favourite restaurant. I opted for the French toast with maple syrup and bacon, my other half went for the full english with an extra portion of haggis and black pudding. They were both amazing, and I have to give a special shout out to the french toast in particular, which was so delicious that we went back the following week to eat it again. I also have to thank them for serving the french toast with back back bacon as it seems much more fashionable (and my personal opinion, much less delicious) to serve the crispy streaky bacon. My only possibly gripe is that there isn´t enough maple syrup given, and when I asked for extra there was an extra charge on the bill. The staff were great and very attentive but not overbearing, and even though the decor is not my personal taste, the outside courtroom at the back of the restaurant is a hidden gem of it´s own. Staying in Chester for the weekend, we decided to walk into town and get some "brunch" - but we're keen to eat healthy so these days this can be a challenge! Not here tho, the Atina Kitchen is a 5-star jewel in the crown which we happily stumbled across. But next time, we'll make sure we come here on purpose. From the warm welcome we received, to the quirky menu (enclosed in a National Geographical Mag!!) and the excellent quality of food, everything was fab. Just one point, you might need to book ahead during busy moments. Fresh coffee, orange juice and a good plate of food for brekkie - yummy, and all for around £20 for two people, what's not to like..? read more

OK I'm shocked with myself that i have somehow not written this review until now. This place is hard to beat. The food in one word is "Awesome". I have eaten in here numerous times and brought many friends in to eat too. They run an all day breakfast menu with everything you would expect including haggis and waffles. The main menu has what I feel maybe the best pulled pork 'Manwhich' I can recall ever tasting. Prices are average for a Chester city centre cafe/restaurant but quality is far superior. Staff are all amazing a chefs are very knowledgeable and inventive, creating new and interesting concoctions to add to their menu. Give their hot sauce a try if your feeling brave. The serving staff always seem happy and are great at giving recommendations off the menu. The interior is modern and relaxed, always clean and very welcoming. I cannot sing the praises of this place any more just visit if your in town and enjoy. read more

Wow! There is a special kind of arrogance from the waitstaff. The food is going to have to be extraordinary to make up for the attitude.

We had breakfast. I had the Atina. It had a little bit of everything, actually a lot. The food was cooked perfectly and taste was amazing. Certainly a five star place in my book. Staff was busy but very nice and polite...seems to be standard in England. Don't walk by...it's worth the stop. read more

Stopped by on a busy Saturday night with no reservation and was promptly seated. Ordered the hummus while we decided what to eat and it was nothing short of delicious only gave us one sliced pitta though between two. I had the pigeon to start and my wife had the ramen he pigeon was cooked perfectly but the ramen was like noodles in watery soy sauce. Apparently my wife was the first person to ever order it and they asked us for our feedback. For our mains I had the lamb which came medium rare I was told this could not be changed but that's how I like it anyway so not really a big deal for myself however I know all people do not like there lamb slightly pink. My wife had the chicken which was exquisite to be fair cooked perfectly. I would recommend this place the staff and atmosphere were amazing. It is very reasonably priced also. read more

This coffee and tea room has got a prime location in Chester city centre near to Argos and Woolworths. It has been a round for a good few years now and is frequented by those who like good coffee and good food. My favourite here is the brie and cranberry baguettes but I've been here for breakfast too and it serves a good veggie breakfast if you are that way inclined! I've been here when thee just isn't any space to sit but it's worth a shot as you won't be disappointed. It's called The Gallery of course as it has its wall adorned with local artists' work which is for sale. There are plenty if different styles displayed here but nothing's suited my taste or budget just yet! read more

Its really nice in here, it's a nice quiet relaxing place to sit and have a coffee and a bite to eat, it's always full every time i go in or walk past. There is additional seating located upstairs.
