This is the worst company I have ever had the unfortunate experience to have to use because I mistakenly called 911 after falling off the ladder. The paramedic who was an older woman was an absolute witch and I should have suer the entire company after it happened. And for all the abuse I had to pay over $2,000 for a 4-mile trip. More than 8 months after the death of my father this company charged us for wheelchair usage that we never requested for $173.27. They sent me 7 invoices in a two week period, wanting payment within 30 days while I was disputing the invoice. It was difficult to even get someone on the phone to talk to and they then threatened me with collections if we did not pay the bill. Horrible company and terrible customer service. Only giving one star since it's the lowest I can go. This company operates under deceptive practices and should be investigated immediately. I was transported by this ambulance service believing it was a volunteer/nonprofit operation. This made sense as all the "EMTs" were maybe 18, but I would guess definitely younger-like highschoolers that have an interest in medical volunteering type vibe. Please note this trip was maybe 10 minutes, and all that they did was wrap my wound and lay me on the stretcher. I was never told I would be charged, and I never received any billing notices before the account was sent to collections. This lack of disclosure appears to potentially violate the New Jersey Consumer Fraud Act (N.J.S.A. 56:8-1 et seq.) and raises concerns under New Jersey ambulance regulations (N.J.S.A. 26:2K-7). It appears maybe people have this issue as well Because I was not informed that this was a billable private service, I may have no choice but to escalate the matter if it isn't resolved. They are the most disorganized company we have ever dealt with. They are transporting patients and have no respect for time. My husband had to be transported to Dialysis from Rehab and every time they were late taking him and picking him up over an hour each way. Their scheduling is inefficient and making patients wait for so long every time is aggravating and unfair. Don't use their service because they don't care about their customers and don't even try to rectify the problem. read more

Atlantic Heath is in network for my insurance but apparently this Ambulance Corp. is not. Absolutely absurd that they Billed over $4500.00 for a 2.2 mile ride...Literally from one location to another on the same street. They did nothing but an EKG, Blood Sugar Test and set an IV in my hand but hooked nothing up to it. Insurance paid them $ 1275.00 for out of Network but now they are back billing me $ 3309.00. Seriously for a 2.2 mile ride and EMT's did nothing really. Shame on you for over inflating billing to people. This is disgusting! read more

This is the biggest cheater Ambulance service. They have updated incorrectly my health condition and also unnecessary put me into ALS 1 category which was not the case. I had just passed out on office floor due to Low BP and Fatigue, and they updated my case as seizure and my case was not so bad that i needed to be hospitalized. I was billed around $6000 for a case which was not at all necessary . They Send me the first bill of $4000 in May and another $1800 in Oct/Nov . The transportation for a hospital for a distance of 10-15 miles was 1800. Ridiculous!. I did not call for any ambulance service and in our absence the bill us for wrong reason. For over 3 months she has been trying to get the idiots in their billing office to issue a refund. Even though on the bill it had a trip number and showed the hospital they went to. amazing to take advantage of senior citizens in a time of need. the charge for non-transport in NJ is usually around $500.00. definitely expect to bother with your own bookkeeping. they ask me for different information in every email receipt I send them of my monthly payments - which they did not upfront tell me I needed to do at first - and all of this information they ask is information they should already have (name, address, trip number). In addition to which, they had no problem sending me all of this info for myself when I asked if my bill was already paid off. just nuisance after nuisance for an already stressful financial circumstance. rude reps on the phones, no way to check your balance online so keep photo documentation of every bill you have and again, do your own bookkeeping for what you owe because they certainly won't do it transparently nor show you what they have. no way for me to check my balance online but they have record of it anyway. infuriating to organize, communicate, and pay. i'd have been better off taking an uber to the hospital. read more

I just found out that my husband was put into COLLECTIONS because of a bill that we supposedly received for him in 2018 in the amount of $2400+ for a 3-mile ride in an ambulance to the nearest hospital! My insurance (top of the line at the time) paid them $513, a more reasonable, although still costly, amount. This company wants the remainder. Warning! Don't arbitrarily tell the police that you'd like them to call for an ambulance without asking what company they are calling for you. A three mile ride, people! read more

I wish to file a formal complaint against one of your drivers.  On Friday, October 21, 2022, at1:40pm until 2:25pm, at the medical building 300 Pond View Professional Park,Freehold, NJ., your driver blocked my vehicle which was parked in a handicap parking spot with his Transport Vehicle making it impossible to get out of my parking space.  We were blocked in for 45 minutes unable to back out of our parking spot.  We could not find the driver.  This caused us to be late for an appointment at another location. He had plenty of room to park in front of the walkway (entrance)rather than blocking other drivers in. This is total disregard for the safety of handicapped visitors to this medical facility not to mention being uncourteous to other people.  Your driver was not on an emergency call, but rather a "transport" call from the medical building to the Freehold Hospital,901 Route 537, Freehold, NJ, a quarter mile away.  We know his destination because we were behind him as we traveled the same route once he moved his vehicle. It was your vehicle number 6265, NJ license number OA-7993.  Attached are photos documenting this complaint.  Your drivers should show more respect to handicapped patients who frequent these medical facilities.  This shows lack of training of your employees.  And lack of courtesy reflects on the management of your company. read more

I know you really can't choose your ambulance company and when minutes count, you shouldn't, but if my life hung in the balance and I had a choice, I'd pick any other ambulance than Atlantic. They took forever to show up. My wife beat them from work. They charge exorbitantly for mileage. They charge you separately for the ambulance and the EMT crew. So I got billed for an ambulance with driver and the EMTs to go along in another truck, plus double the mileage. It was ridiculous. It's like if you bought a car but then charged additionally for another car that actually had the engine in it. If you have a choice, get your local volunteer Dept to come get you. Or your significant other. read more

The EMT's who work for this ambulance service are extremely unprofessional! There were two heavy set female attendants and I have to question whether they were really EMT's at all??? They were rude and flippant. I will say that the company was very professional when this was reported. I suggest they be more selective in their hiring practices. read more

Avoid! 1- Just received my bill. In addition to $300 for a "12" mile trip to the local hospital, there is one line item for $850. What's that? Total is $1,150 . My insurance only covered ~ $700, and Atlantic wants me to pay the remaining ~ $450. 2- No answer at the phone number at the bottom of the bill. 3- Also received a statement from my insurance saying, "... This claim has been paid at $350% of the rate established by the federal government for the Medicare program for the services provided..." read more
