Regardless, it was worth a visit. The barman was very friendly, and impressed me hugely when he got us sniffing the various types of dark rum on offer! I stuck with the Sailor Jerry, but there was a good choice, as well as tequila shots for a pound if you're so inclined. I didn't get any of the Mediterranean food on offer in the restaurant but would definitely go back another time - really good service and atmosphere.

Mainly due to the fact that they would consistently get over 20 people together for good times. This was also the first place I tried the shisha or hubbly bubbly to some people. It was quite novel and I haven't seen any other place do this before. Friday and Saturday nightsare definitely the best times to go but I would wonder if we hadn't been in such large numbers whether it would be as much fun. With a huge amount of different drinks on offer it would be a good place to stop in if you were on a pub crawl for sure. However, I couldn't see myself spending all night here.

The show I saw was Shit-faced Showtime: The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, which was hilarious. Great way to cap off our trip to Brighton!

Once you have conquered that particular hurdle, you'll find a modern style cosy pub that pumps out crazy videos and pumping music at non obtrusive volumes, allowing you to have a conversation bellow shouting volume. Drinks are a little expensive, but are probably representative of the trendy atmosphere. Apparently one time my friend came downstairs and their was some kind of sex-dungeon party going on with loads of naked people, although when I went in it was empty. It's quite grimy, and there is just one small bar. It's not really the sort of place you would go for a nice quiet drink, but it's got a lot of character. Plus, in spite of the aggressive décor, the barman was very sweet.

A Brighton institution, The Dome is one of the city's leading gig venues platforming everyone from…read moreestablished rock, pop and funk bands to world music artists from Europe, South America and beyond. In complete contrast to the nearby Brighton Centre, it's a picturesque venue with a grand ceiling, a beautifully arched stage, a generous standing area and two tiers of comfy seats. The sound and sight lines are also top notch. I've seen The Drums, The Macabees, Bombay Bicycle Club, The Gossip, Pete Doherty, Bon Iver and Richard Hawley here in the last 18 months and the atmosphere was incredible at every single gig. Pete Doherty poured his drink over a heckler, Beth Ditto flirted with the audience and Bon Iver shocked everyone by doing a heavy rock number. My favourite memory of a show here however, has to be the Halloween party The Go! Team threw a few years back. They adorned the stage with pumpkins, dressed in weird costumes and had spooky films playing behind them. It was a magical evening and I danced so much, my legs ached for hours after-wards.

This Grade-I listed complex is both a highly original performance venue (with 3 performance areas,…read moreactually), and an historic building with a fascinating past. History The Dome was originally built in 1803-05 for the Prince of Wales (later George IV) as a stable block, adjacent to his then rather modest Brighton seaside villa. The architect was William Porden, and it was he who chose the iconic Indian architectural style (technically Indo-Saracenic) and designed the huge dome - originally covered in glass, 24 metres in diameter and 19 metres high, to cover a circulating area for the horses. Once completed, the new buildings so overshadowed the original villa, that the Prince instructed that they should be revamped into the iconic Brighton Pavilion we see today. The complex was sold to Brighton in the 1850s, and the Dome was developed as a concert hall in 1866. A major refurbishment in 1935 saw it modernised and given an Art Deco interior, and the Pavilion Theatre was added on the site of Mrs Fitzherbert's stables. Over the years it developed an enviable reputation as a Concert and entertainment venue for both classical and popular music, despite its notoriously poor acoustics. Famous names who performed here include Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix and the Rolling Stones, and in 1974 it hosted the Eurovision Song Contest, won famously by Abba, singing 'Waterloo'. However, both the interior and exterior were crumbling and a major refurbishment was begun in 1999, costing £22m and taking three years to complete. The revamped complex now houses 3 venues: the 1,850 seat Concert Hall, the 570 seat Corn Exchange (which also hosts non-seated events on its sprung floor) and the 220 seat Pavilion Theatre. The exterior (together with the Museum) provides a suitably exotic backdrop to the Pavilion itself. Events The Dome hosts an astonishing variety of events, from concerts, conferences and performances in the main Concert Hall, to more eclectic drama, comedy and dance in the Pavilion Theatre. I've mostly attended events in the Concert Hall, and I'd agree with others that it's a great place to visit: the seating is comfy and spacious, the acoustics are hugely improved and the unusual shape gives it an intimate feel. Practicalities It's a ten minute walk from Brighton railway station, and just about every Brighton bus route passes close by, either on North Street or the Steine. The venue has level access throughout (and specific spaces for wheelchairs in the auditoria), disabled toilets, hearing loops and printed material is available (on request) in large format. Disabled customers can apply for a complimentary ticket (one per booking) to enable them to bring a companion or access assistant with them free of charge - phone for details. Well worth a visit.

Hanover is famous for its pubs and when you wander into the Greys you'll instantly see why. With low ceilings and intimate little tables and booths, the Greys is the perfect place to snuggle up with friends or a special someone for a glass of red wine in the winter. In addition to the cosy indoor seating, they have a covered, heated patio at the side of the building and a few tables and chairs out front. As well as an impressive array of the usual ale, lager and cider, the Greys boast a fine selection of Belgian beers with very distinctive flavours...the raspberry and cherry are especially tasty. The pub is a hub of beer-drinking activity during the Hanover beer festival and is my favourite of the pubs involved. This pub is also great for live music...I once happened in on a beautiful folk singer. They quite often feature local and international musicians of all varieties, but they do seem to generally favour bluesy and folksy bands, which is fine by me! They also do a monthly music quiz, which will especially appeal to music buffs.

Outside the patio is heated so you can enjoy a cigarette without coming back in with frost bite. We had a Sunday lunch there which, at £9 I thought was a little over-priced. It was really nice but there's a lot of other pubs that do it better for a lot less in my opinion. I'm definitely going to head back there on one of the blues nights though as the staff and locals really are fantastic here.

It's a real locals pub as it's tucked away in a residential area not far from Aldrington station. This makes it all the more friendly. It's just so welcoming, friendly, good decor and great food. What's not to like about it !? It has a great range of seating areas from tables of various sizes, to comfy sofas, cozy booths, and an outside seating area (both front and back). In here I have eaten the best roast dinner I have ever tasted. On Sunday I think they only serve roast dinners and you won't be disappointed. I am also a fan of their bangers and mash range. A wide range of fancy flavoured sausages with a choice of mash types and gravy options. I am in heaven!!!! Other friends have eaten the fish dishes here and burgers and everything is really good quality. The perfect place to hang out for a drink. Try out the quiz (on a Monday I think), listen to live music (Friday and Saturdays I believe). The music isn't too loud so you can't hear yourself speak, just a good atmosphere. If you've not been to this pub you have to go. Simple as that!

That said, watching boats bob up and down on waves while supping a pint of Guinness is not to be sniffed at, and makes for a fine way to enjoy the sun. Just a little away from the majority of the shops, and nestled alongside the swanky looking flats that border the water, it makes for a fantastic little nook to tuck a pub into, and there is ample outdoor seating to enjoy when the weather is warm. I haven't got around to trying anything on the menu yet (as I tend not to stray over to the mariner all that often). But the pub looked clean and well maintained with friendly staff ferrying away empty plates from satisfied faces, so I can only assume the traditional menu is a well received menu. Not worth going to the Mariner for per se, but certainly one of the best ways to spend your time there.

Th interior is has a really homley feel with wooden panel walls and open fire. Its a proper family pub which makes a change all the uber cool pubs that Brighton is littered with. They serve local real ale and the menu offers pub grub and has something to suit the whole family.
