I contacted Atlas Consumer Law seeking representation for remaining Fair Credit Reporting Act claims after successfully resolving my TransUnion claim through separate litigation. From the outset, I explained that I had already exhausted the dispute process with the credit bureaus and was seeking legal representation because those disputes had failed to resolve the remaining issues. Over several weeks the firm requested extensive documentation, including credit reports, payment records, dispute history, and documentation from Regional Acceptance Corporation. I spent considerable time gathering everything they requested, signed their credit authorization so they could obtain my reports directly, completed their intake paperwork, and even obtained additional documentation directly from Regional Acceptance after several attempts. Despite all of that, I was ultimately directed back to the very same dispute process that I had already explained had been exhausted before I ever contacted the firm. Rather than identifying what additional evidence they believed was necessary or providing a clear decision regarding representation, I continued receiving requests that either repeated information I had already provided or directed me to repeat steps that had already failed. What made the experience particularly frustrating was the amount of time invested without receiving a straightforward answer. If the firm did not wish to pursue the matter, I would have respected a direct decision. This guy asks questions that he doesn't understand himself so when you answer the questions, you then have to go back and explain to him what you mean. Run from this firm! They have 3 BBB complaints for not paying settlements and a third from me for the following situation. Danielle Chapman, their paralegal and Nathan Volheim an attorney and director at the firm are the most treacherous and unethical people I've ever met. From the beginning their attorneys acted as if they despised speaking to me and didn't care about my case. I spoke to Nathan Thursday, 9/28 at 12:29 pm regarding a conversation I had with Chad their employment lawyer about a demand letter for an employment case they were working on. After speaking with Chad about the settlement number, I had some questions and concerns and decided to speak to Nathan regarding filing under Title 1981. Please keep in mind, the document I submitted with incidents of my employment case to them, specified I'd like to sue under this title since it has no cap. Nathan then explained the reasoning behind the number but shortly after this explanation, I mentioned to him my reasoning for wanting a higher amount. I also mentioned it is important to me for us to be on the same page, since we were working together. Nathan proceeded to take a dark turn in his communication and indicated the following lies and unprofessional statements before deciding to end our client/attorney relationship. - He mentioned Danielle stated to him I looked up the firms BBB complaints. This is true, and mentioned to Nathan I do my due diligence on everyone I work with as not all firms are reputable. The claims made on BBB came up in a Google search for your firm I did not go directly to their website to look for it, it's public information anyone will find when they input your name. - He lied and said "you've looked all of us up!" This is a blatant lie and salacious. To make me out to be a stalker is dangerous language I will be reporting to the bar! No one looked anyone up except on your website which Wanda directed me to before being onboarded. - He mentioned "if you're expecting me to have passion for your case, I won't! I'll fight very hard for your case but I don't have the same feelings ". - He mentioned I was complaining about Chad again. Another lie, I merely relayed our conversation last week and asked him about other options for the settlement amount for my case. I have no issue with Chad at all! Nathan has been rude, arrogant, and disrespectful each time I've spoken to him. This conversation was the final straw. I'm a previous client on the consumer side and never had an issue with their firm until now. I've never had a bad relationship with an attorney, I have a few who have represented me for my business and we are now friends. This is the first incident I've had where an attorney has exaggerated situations and statements, made salacious claims, defamed me, and fired me for asking questions. I suggest you research a firm who won't treat you like a transactional case or do unethical things that can get them sued or disbarred! Oh and they will threaten former clients with lawsuits who leave bad reviews against them. You can check their Google reviews for that. read more

After obtaining their services, they said they would represent me with the National Labor Board but failed to update me or respond until the day before the deadline, and only after I had followed up with them on the employment matter they were supposed to represent me in. Furthermore, apart from causing me stress over this matter, they stated that unless I agreed to receive only $20,000--regardless of a contractual agreement where they would receive only forty percent--they wouldn't represent me anymore. Therefore, due to the stress they caused, the ultimatum given, and their withdrawal from my case, I give them one star. read more

I gave these attorneys referrals back around the 2010 housing crisis and they were very prompt to meet my client's needs. So when I had fraud committed against me by a big corporation that wrecked my credit, I contacted them. Their admin was prompt to send me to a legal retainer and instructions on where to send docs which were signed and sent within 24 hours. But weeks turned into months and then I realized that "my" attorney phone number on the retainer did not work and they were not working out of their office. Over 4 months past before I finally received an email from "my" attorney stating they were disengaging their legal services from me in summary because they were to busy and they didn't have enough help but would recommend another attorney but that recommendation was never given. My suggestion would be to read the retainer well before signing, try the attorneys phone number on the retainer and get something in writing as to how soon they are going to start communicating with you on your case without using Covid for an excuse 4+ months later. read more

My fiance and I used this law firm to free her from her underwater mortgage and clear our path to get married. They did exactly that. They are great people and an outstanding law firm. Here's our facts: Her condo was underwater by about $75K. The first floor of her building had a condo owner that developed Alzheimer's and with his dementia, he also developed a hoarding habit. He hoards garbage from floor to ceiling. The building developed a pest problem and regardless of how often the condo association contracted an exterminator, the problem would not cease. For months we tried a variety of methods at the city, state, police, and fire department level to evict this owner but it became clear that the process to get him out had no end in sight. My fiance makes good money, she had no debt other than her mortgage, her debt to income ratio was ideal, she had excellent credit, and paid her credit card balance to zero every month. She's hardly the profile of a bankruptcy candidate. Short Sale wasn't an option because the property would appraise much higher than the sale price due to the hoarder (what type of sale price can you expect from a place that has notices of exterminators and roach traps in all of the common areas?). We wouldn't find a renter that would live in those conditions, particularly with a rent fee high enough to cover the mortgage. We needed to get rid of that property. We met with Sulaiman Law who very patiently reviewed each option we had and balanced that with our life goals. They didn't pressure us into anything and we felt like they had our best interest at heart. They designed a method that utilizes Chapter 13 bankruptcy to free you from your mortgage. It is a brilliant concept based on a US Sepreme Court precedent. The decision was a no brainer. Once we got over the taboo of filing bankruptcy, we went through with the Chapter 13. We made that decision because we didn't want to pay every month into an investment that would never pay off and we didn't want to be on the hook for $75K of equity. It was the easiest, the most predictable, and had the best case aftermath of financial future of any of the other options. The process was simple. It involved some paperwork, one visit to court for 40 minutes, and the attorney fee that was made back by not paying the mortgage after we were no longer required to pay. My fiance has received zero collections calls from her lender. Sulaiman Law was 100% correct on everything they said. These guys figured out a way to use the law to help people like us transition their lives. For us that meant buying a house (done) and getting married with a fresh start (January 2014). You can tell that it's very personal for them. I'm truly grateful, and it's why I'm writing this long-winded review. If you are stuck because of an underwater mortgage, they are worth a consultation. I haven't written a review on Yelp in quite a long time. After a recent meeting with Ahmad Sulaiman, I felt compelled to come write one right away. Let me start by saying that no one impresses me. I consider myself an extremely intelligent individual that can do a better job at most things, than the majority of people in their own profession. Ahmad was one of a handful of people, probably the second or third attorney that actually spoke well, was articulate and simply an expert in the field he works in. After a major change in income related to a diagnosis of cancer for my mother, wife being laid off of work, and both her parents and mine having financial troubles, we decided to come in and talk with an attorney about the options. We heard a commercial on AM radio and met with attorneys at Fish Brydges & Associates. Because of timing, they were hired right away and to say the least, they accomplished absolutely nothing, yet took payment for it. In the end, we started looking for another firm. Surely, I'll write up my experiences with Fish Brydges as well, which would get zero stars, if there was such a choice. Anyway, we met with Ahmad and explained the details of our needs, as well as those concerns of each of our parents. Not only did he give us very detailed answers, strategic thoughts and direction but he also suggested that after talking with us, that he recognized that we knew a lot more than most about the related laws that we were discussing with him. He offered to accept a retainer and explained how it would work going forward but that he did not want us to hire him. He said that he wants those who actually need him to hire him, and not those who don't, like us. He was extremely detailed in each and every point, with no need to reference anything but his own head. He talked about various strategies that no other attorney was even familiar with, but I researched what he talked about and sure enough there is supporting information on the web at various legal sites, but not one local supposed 'foreclosure' expert even talked about those options. What a Joke! Do not waste your money with their $150.00 consult fee, learn from my mistake. First off...this one's for you Ahmad :-) During our consult, he looks at me and asks, "did you see our yelp reviews"? I said, "well I tried but couldn't find any" at the time I met with him these reviews were hidden, I wonder why ;-) He then goes on to ask that I promise to review him on yelp, what a narcissistic personality. I went it seeking foreclosure defense and he bypassed my foreclosure and tried to talk me into bankruptcy., which by the way I don't presently qualify for. He wasn't interested in fighting my foreclosure which could have led to to a consent foreclosure or deed in lieu. He spent No time discussing options and The entire time trying to sell me on a bankruptcy. At one point, he acted like he had the greatest option/idea for me qualifying for a bankruptcy. He told me that because my foreclosed property had turned into a rental (it was residential at time of purchase) it would be wiped out in bankruptcy because it would be treated as as a business. Meaning...I would not be sued for 100k. I asked him how this could be, I specifically said, " wouldn't it have had to be a rental from time of purchase?" He replied, "no, we'll just tell the judge your situation changed." Well, I left feeling like maybe I had some light at the end of my dark underwater tunnel, until....a quick search online revealed he was....WRONG. And, my suspicion was accurate, the law clearly states for a property to be considered business it must have been purchased as a rental property and never used as a primary residence. For someone who was pushing bankruptcy so hard he didn't even know the law that seemed pretty simple and obvious to a laymen like myself. I purchased my condo in 2005 at the peak of the market in Chicago. I was paying a high interest rate due to some credit issues that I had years prior. I met with Ahmad Sulaiman last night for a consultation regarding strategic foreclosure. I went in to the meeting feeling defeated, and left feeling the complete opposite.
