I asked him if the problem was a fungus disease, bag worms, spider mites ect. He barely looked at them and told me they might need some "collar" surgery. I asked why only 5 feet were distressed and slowly dying. He told me that they need to be fertilized. Childress tree service clearly states in their website that they are a registered arborist. I assumed the guy they sent out had knowledge. I agreed to pay Childress $525 to service the collars and fertilize with a fermented green tea fertilizer. Two guys showed up in an unmarked vehicle, no company logo. One guy crawled between 4 arbs for about 3 minutes each. The other guy mixed the green tea fertilizer in a 5 gallon bucket. My research says the tea must be fermented over a period of days. He told me it doesn't matter and dumped some at the base of the plants. Two guys, 35 minutes. Needless to say that wasn't the problem. They had a fungus disease that I researched and figured out myself. During this time my arbs died in a two foot width. Several months after the service, I called the owner Ezra. He came over and explained that during the time my arbs were done, he was "away" and another guy was running his company for his extended absence. He said he had fired the guy upon his return and that the guy had stolen from him. I asked could he make it right with me by trimming the arbs and my trees that were trimmed two years ago for what he told me would be a smoking hot deal. I have had these arbs topped and my trees trimmed 3 times previously. It took the last guy two years ago 5 hours to trim all three of my medium size trees and the arbs. He did that for $700. Ezra finally gave me a bid for $1200 to make up for the poor service I received. That's his smoking hot deal to remedy the situation that happened while he was "away". Not impressed. Next is a complaint with the better business bureau.

No issues with their work. After a couple weeks when I got my end of the mess all cleaned up, I noticed that after the stump grind they had not quite gotten all of it below grade and called them, their response was quick and poitive, scheduling the grinder back to my home at no additional charge. I am very satisfied with their work and would be happy to reccomend them for tree removal work anytime. The cost was reasonable and they were available within a few days to start the work.

It was raining slightly that day, and owner called 15 minutes before he was to be here and said it was too rainy and wet. (that was never a problem before - I have pictures of them working in the rain). He wanted to reschedule and if I didn't want to reschedule he just wanted to cancel it altogether. So we rescheduled to a week out and I finally called him at 10 AM to see if he was still coming. He said Oh, ya - just need to get gas and unload chipper. Be there in an hour or so. When he showed up and we made a comment that it would have been nice if he called to let us know he was going to be 2 hours late - as a courtesy. Good business practice. (He now works alone - does not have a crew anymore like before). Well, he took offense and said he didn't think he wanted to do this job because of our comment. We told him we like his work, just let people know if your going to be real late. So he stood there for a minute and walked down the street, got in his truck and left. No sorry, no goodbye, no nothing - just left He would not answer my phone call either. I real immature man. After all the business I've given him and referrals - no more.

Plants were completely smashed, branches were everywhere, and a huge limb had been taken out of our old growth apple tree. What blew my mind is that they didn't clean anything up, appeared to take zero precautions to protect our tree and plants, and couldn't do so much as leave a note or try to contact us. I'm mad just thinking about it. They didn't even tell our neighbor! We had to show him what they did to our yard and he was surprised. We are so disappointed that our apple tree is ruined and that this company has such poor values and ethic. Hire anyone else.

And now, they rescued my favorite apple tree which FELL OVER last year. They gently pulled it back straight (with some amazing Army rigging!) then supported it with lines and props so it can resettle in its proper place. I will put photos below....
