I live in a small HOA of 8-homes. Every 3-4 years, we have our clothes dryer vents cleaned out of the lint residue from the vent. That's the vent line from the dryers' wall opening to the exhaust on the roof. It tends to accumulate, so cleaning out the vents is for clothes drying efficiency and a fire preventive measure. Our HOA hired prior companies in the past. I decided to research for other companies with positive and high customer review ratings. Prior companies cleaned out the vents within the homes and not the roofs. Other companies, the roof and not inside. Attic Cleaning Services provided both inside and outside cleaning, which took a little more time. That's from providing both cleanouts. They came on a Saturday, no additional weekend cost, a group deal, being 8-homes on one visit. The 2 team members were friendly, professional, detailed, immaculate cleanup, even offered advice to one homeowner. With his camera, he took a pic for the homeowner's vent from the inside. It showed a partial dent in the vent, which was the reason she also spent excessive drying time. She was going to purchase a new clothes dryer. But the replacement would resolve the excessive drying time. Less expensive than purchasing a new dryer. Even more improved clothes drying efficiency, and a lower PG&E electric bill. Just wrapped up a project and I couldn't be happier. Despite being in Fresno, Attic Cleaning Services popped up as the top recommendation for the job. I reached out and Cristino set up an appointment to come see the space the next day. He arrived right on time despite coming from Oakland to provide the quote and was very competitive with the others I received. Based on the reviews here, I figured I couldn't go wrong so I scheduled the work to be done the following week. The team was great and included Juan, Chris, and four others who came out and removed all the existing insulation (and rat droppings), cleaned the inside of all the ducts, replaced one duct that was majorly damaged from the rats, sealed with spray foam and wires to keep the rats out of the attic and unwanted air leakage to/from the house, removed an ancient whole house fan and patched the hole, and blew in all new insulation. It was a big job but the crew of 6 knocked it out and they were at my house from 9:30 am until 8:15 pm. Even though the job ran long they painstakingly made sure the house was clean. Luckily, they took such great care in the prep and tarping everything off that cleaning was actually pretty minimal. I responded that we wanted to do the pest control/attic cleaning along with new furnace ducting with asbestos removal and a vapor barrier in the crawl space. They came in and put up plastic everywhere to protect our house. They spent hours in our tiny flat roof attic cleaning and removing everything then put in all new ducting. I reached out to Christino last week and asked him about duct cleaning for my bathroom vent that was having ventilation issues since other contractors who were going to try to install it said they couldn't guarantee that they could clean the ducts since we dont have attic access. I decided to get the two bathrooms done that have showers since I figured it would be good to improve ventilation. Christino and I discussed what I was hoping to do and he asked if I had any other work to do to make it more worth it for them. I said there wasn't at the time. After learning my location was in the south bay, he was still willing to help me out even though I wasn't giving him too much work. Other people quoted me 4x the amount he did for the same job. Juan came and did a great job. He was very thorough in his inspection and explained to me what he was doing. Really put me at ease. He recommended I get the duct cleaning first before trying to replace my bathroom fan to see if it would improve. And the good news was that it did. I had to run it about a hour before the condensation on the mirror would clear up but now it takes about 30 min. Juan said most likely I would need to replace the fan as it wasnt strong enough to clear moisture but he stated you might as well see if the duct cleaning will help before you try to replace the fan since it would be less troublesome. He was right in all regards. Im happy I waited to see if the duct cleaning would help because it did. But it just wasnt enough to clear the moisture. When Juan showed up, i thought of a few more things for them to do and they were able to give me a great price for it. My only complaint is that there was some dirt that kept coming out of the bathroom vent after cleaning, I texted Christino and he said it was normal and keep the fan running. I decided to not make a huge fuss because ultimately i had to replace the fan. I replaced it and it clears the moisture and has some cleared to ducts to push that air out through so i'm happy. Still deserves a 5 star because Christino is really someone who is trying to help people while also making a living and I cant fault anyone for trying to do that. Guys/gals. Just stop looking around and hire these guys. They truly deserve their 5* rating! To begin, they were the ONLY company that came at a moment's notice to give me a quote. They drove an hour plus in Friday afternoon traffic to get from Oakland to where my house was. They gave me a very competitive quote and started the next day--on a Saturday. They said they'd work on Sunday if I preferred. In comparison every other top rated company could only fit me in the next week for an appt. and were hesitant to give me a quote over the phone, which wasn't the case here. The Job: They showed up at 8AM sharp with a big truck and a giant vacuum that could suck a cat in. By 12PM they cleared up all the messy junky crap from my attic. SO CLEAN you can eat off of it! By 4PM they installed top rated Dow Corning R38 material (not every company uses top shelf insulation in their quotes)...so thick you couldn't see the rafters. i could sleep on top of it! On Monday, they came back and added Radiant Barrier material, again at a very fair price. They took their time to do a great(!) job with it too. Now my attic looks like a lair for Barbarella (Jane Fonda movie) with the pink insulation at the bottom and silver lined roof. It looks like a space ship for an elite. LOL. I have an eye for detail, and saw they were perfectionists like me. They were real hard workers and humble. Plus they made sure not to damage your entry or walls with their giant hose. Out of all the subcontractors I've dealt with or am dealing with for my remodels, this was in an exclusive tier of pro level perfectionism that is very rare to achieve. Now my house temp has DRAMATICALLY improved!! I have a Ridge Vent for my roof (absolutely MANDATORY for rising global warming temps and roof shingle longevity--get it done with a roofer BEFORE insulation install) and the radiant barrier aluminum takes all that hot air that gets thru the roof shingles and gets BLOCKED by the aluminum. Since hot air rises, the hot air get shifted up to the the ridge vent above, dissipating out. If you put your hand over the the aluminum you can feel that warm heat being blocked. Any residual heat left over in the attic gets blocked by the thick insulation. read more
