Efteling, situated in a forested area, and with a non-commercial essence from old fairy tales, was magical. It brought out my inner child. it was clean, mostly uncrowded, relatively inexpensive and fun. A few rides were totally unexpected and inventive.

Tickets are very cheap (5 Euro). You can get for another 3 Euro a fancy country style trolley to carry a stuff and kids together. My daughter asked me why they don't invent it in UK theme parks? There are no electronic rides, it's all about old fashioned water fun or pedal objects & slides. The highest slide is a real thrill even for adults!!! The area is huge and queues were small, so we spent all day and didn't manage to do everything. Kids just ran wild and had heaps of fun. We ate food there which was extremely cheap, Frankfurter & Chips for 1.50 Euro, Coke/Fanta all 1.00 Euro etc. I think for the price, you'll be hard pushed to get any better value! Best ages for kids would be 5-13 I guess. Try and pick a nice day and bring swimming trunks and towels as you/they will get wet! I was burried by my kids under tons of dry corn, we made our own water feature out of guttering, and patted are a few small animals too. Everything to make it enjoyable for all children. My top tip would be to bring your own food to BBQ as they have BBQs everywhere you can make use of for free. You can rent a little cart for 3 Euro deposit to put everything in and pull it along. This park is kind of a Universal Studios knock off. At least that what it reminded me of. They are open seasonally and do change some attractions for Halloween and Christmas. For what you get its quite expensive, 2 adults, 2 children will set you back around € 120-140 depending on how early you book the tickets. Fast pass is € 39 per person which you definitely need if it's packed. Else waiting time for the rides easily gets to 60 minutes. The rides in general are too old. Although they add new ones every now and then, they keep some from 20 years ago. In addition they're not exciting enough anymore for today's standards. The there those antique arcade games in the Wild West and you even have to pay for them, crazy. In general they charge money for many additional games. They have a good action stunt show but it shows only twice a day, ridiculous. The fast food here is bad and expensive, 3 x Pommes and 3 Softdrinks set you back € 20. There are no better choices in this area so a lot of people still come here. The next one would be the Phantasialand near Cologne.

Though the roller coasters are top notch. Mamba is aweeeeeeeweeeeeweeeesome. And don't rule out Colorado Adventure (train roller coaster) the turns and the gravity spins are top knotch. The shows are interesting. The sport show is cool with some nice stunts (the do this light show that I still can't understand why....Germans!). The Ice Dance show is really good too. They do some interesting things on a tiny ice rink. The fun house is truely thought provoking, They did a lot of work on it and it has some interesting parts. We didn't get to see the China Acrobatic show...they were setting it up while we were leaving to go eat. Food is okay, we ate at the Tapas restaurant. Not really worth it, and they don't serve Tapas! Just main dishes. We ate at the buffet in the restaurant. Interesting mix, got to try some different meats (kangaroo, rabbit, zebra). Slightly expensive, but tasty stuffs and great atmosphere. To get to the hotel buffet you have to leave the park and walk around the outside and then enter the hotel, then go through the lobby to go outside. Definitely will be going back.

The park itself has a beautiful design, fun roller coasters, pretty tasty food & drinks, and has been enjoyable to visit. The restaurant & hotel are another story.
