As my dinner arrives, the bell goes off from the cathedral, the pigeons flock away, the light on the cathedral lights up.. ooo-la-la... if I had only brought a date.. I would have totally scored.. Its just magical! I don;t speak much french but the madame was very helpful. I had the duck in orange glace and a demi bottle of red. Both are excellent. Ate here the second time, this time inside and upstairs and it is equally charming. Lots of leather, wood panelling, Tiffany lamps.. french speaking people.. I had the Guinea Fowl in some herb cream sauce and it was ammmmmaaaaaaaaazing.. I did not see the pigeons anymore.. so.. was it Guinea Fowl.. or did I just eat pigeon..

It turns out that everyone enjoyed eating here more than anyplace else on the visit to Strasbourg, including a couple of Michelin-star stops. The burger (topped with ham and cheese) was juicy, well-seasoned and delicious. It was served with very good fries and a fresh green salad. The steak tartare, served on top of crispy hash-brown potatoes, was met with high praise. In addition to main courses, the restaurant has a showcase of beautiful desserts. Due to time constraints, we did not stay for dessert. Service here is excellent. The food came out quickly, and the servers were extremely attentive. When we were ready to leave, they were quick with the bill. They seemed to understand that you may have limited time, so everything moved at a relatively fast pace.

On this day they had specials and my husband opted for their beef skewers. The meat was filled with fat and veining, almost rendering it inedible. I had The Asian appetizers and it was all fried. Wasn't expecting that, but of course it's going to taste good if it's fried. My sons chicken tenders were all white meat, so at least there's that. And it was very juicy. I would go just for the decor and drinks. They don't rush you and apparently you can stay at a table all day and not even have a drink. So...

However, once a chicken burger I got had less meat in it than a 1 Euro chicken burger at McDonald's, and another time my friend's chicken wasn't fully cooked... If it weren't for that, I would give this place 4 stars. The internet where I lived wasn't very reliable and many websites were blocked, so my neighbors and I would often come to Au Bureau for the free internet. The staff was very patient with us and let us stay as long as we wanted, even though we often didn't order much. Sometimes the music was a bit too loud, and the food was kind of expensive for what you get, but overall it's a good place.
