Ironic that one of the best restaurants in Bordeaux is not French, but Asian, is it not? This is not a fancy decor, nor is it particularly inexpensive, but the food is outstanding. The wine list is good and relatively inexpensive. You can also bring wine, I believe, check this with them, to make sure. There is a "discovery menu" which will make an evening special for you and yours. They will ask you what your preferences are (meat, fish, etc) and make up the menu at your table, course by course. You will taste seven dishes. Excellent! The only sour note is that there is a musician playing and singing French songs (for tips) which doesn't really go with the Asian vibe and frankly, diminishes the experience rather than augmenting it. Fortunately, because he goes from table to table, that part doesn't last too long. My advice is to go as early as possible, that way you'll miss most of that distraction. read more

I'm a Chinese, and I would like to say: this is the worst Chinese restaurant I've ever been in France! Despite the mad price( 25€ for a normal dish, and we spent 70 for two persons which is 490 Yuan and in China you can eat a fck ing delicious and health meal with that money), the quality of foods are so disappointing. A normal restaurant in any street of China could give you a far more good experience. And we waited for meal in more that 45 minutes total. In a word , worst of worst, pls go to China to see what is CHINESE FOOD! read more

This is the best Bordeaux Asian food and it's a choice we make every time we visit. It isn't cheap, but the full tasting menu is always a delight. The decor is modest, and I'm not thrilled by the Spanish guitarist that we've seen a few times, preferring to dine in more quiet circumstances, but the service is good and the food splendid. read more

Dommage pas pu essayer Bonsoir, Habitant le quartier et après plusieurs avis très positifs d'amis ayant "investi" dans un restaurant qu'ils ont qualifié d'atypique et donnant une vraie idée et surtout envie de la cuisine chinoise et ces multiples facettes (au contraire du resto tout compris avec buffet self service) je me suis dit pourquoi pas, un budget peut être (menu dégustation affiché à 55 euros) mais parfois il faut savoir se faire plaisir. 1ère tentative avant les vacances d'été sur les coups de 19h, accueil par un des serveurs/responsables du restaurant "désolé nous sommes complet, restaurant sur réservation". Bon, salle encore vide mais passons, une carte de visite aurait été appréciable mais n'ayant pas/pu franchir la porte... 2ème tentative ce soir 25/09/2012 vers 21h30, passant devant nous souhaitions réserver pour dans 10/15 jours. Une table seule de 4 personnes un des clients nous regarde puis nous oublie, un homme jouant de la guitare à leur côté concentré sur son morceau, une femme derrière le comptoir, occupée à ranger ces verres. Tout store ouvert, mais porte vitrée close. Après avoir frappé sans insistance, il était clair que si la soirée n'était pas affichée privée, le mépris (quel autre mot) de l'assistance et du personnel ne nous engage pas à un 3 ème essai. Moralité, 55 euros de dégustation x 2 (hors boisson) = 110 euros d'économie. Soit un budget honorable pour 2 voir 3 restaurants sans prétention, ni réputation, ou nous aurons notre lot de joie et déception en franchissant la porte sans avoir ni avis préconçu, ni préjugé. Note = moyenne soit 3 sur la cuisine n'ayant pu la juger Note = 2 sur le cadre car d'extérieur vue sur l'ensemble du resto, rien d'extraordinaire mais le carde est 'il l'essentiel ? Etonnant mais assez irrégulier Il est commun de trouver les restaurants Japonais chers, beaucoup moins pour les restaurants "Chinois". Celui-ci n'est pas donné du tout : le moindre plat est à 23€. Mais c'est une cuisine chinoise haut de gamme et haute en saveurs. Pour avoir une petite vue d'ensemble, j'ai essayé le menu à 42€ : 5 plats pour découvrir la cuisine du Sichuan. Ce sont des mets en petite quantité avec des saveurs détonantes (ça n'arrache pas comme un chili, juste ce qu'il faut) et étonnantes. Je ne sais pas trop ce que j'ai mangé, et cela n'a pas grande importance, ce fut un festival ! Le tout arrosé un blanc Alsacien (la carte des vins blancs est très bien fournie, ça change) au juste prix. Vous pouvez vous passer des desserts (sans aucun intérêt dans la cuisine asiatique sauf dans la Japonaise) et prendre une petite soupe, pour la digestion. J'ai adoré. read more

Merci tour tout. Encore une fois des avis négatifs disent restaurant à la mode mais c'est étrange de voir des gens revenir depuis plus de 25ans... Alors c'est une bonne mode si elle dure depuis si longtemps ! C'est un des rares restaurants que je connaisse qui limite les réservations pour pouvoir passer un peu de temps avec ses clients. Effectivement c'est un endroit où le temps s'arrête et qui fait la différence avec ceux où l'on vous amène le plat suivant trop rapidement pour libérer la table. Ce qui compte avant tout c'est le goût ! Et Au bonheur du palais mérite son nom. Il faut y retourner et varier les plats (1 plat a la carte ne revient pas très cher mais quel souvenir !). Quitte à manger le désert ailleurs car il est vrai que ce n'est pas vraiment dans leurs culture. Par contre la carte des vins ! read more

Love au bonheur du palais. Tommy & Andy are a killer pair of brothers; the food is excellent, even if a little on the expensive side. Definitely worth every penny. I've eaten a lot of different chinese cuisines, all over the world, and this place rocks. Sechuan spices that explode in your mouth. The spicy beef stew is my favorite, but watch out for the pepper! read more
