The food at Le Baeckeoffe d'Alsace was genuinely good, and once our order was finally taken,…read moreeverything moved along smoothly. The staff was efficient when bringing out the dishes and clearing the table.
However, the service before and after our meal was incredibly frustrating. It took 45 minutes for anyone to even come to our table to take our order. Our server passed us four times without a word--not even a quick "I'll be right with you." Meanwhile, a party that arrived after us was greeted immediately. It was hard not to feel overlooked.
After we finished eating, they cleared our plates and said they would bring the dessert menu, but it never arrived. Another 20+ minutes went by before I finally had to flag the waiter down just to get any attention.
I understand that dining can be more relaxed here, but as someone who works in hospitality, this was one of the worst first impressions I've had in a long time. A simple acknowledgment would have gone a long way.
The food is good, but the service made the overall visit far more frustrating than it should have been.
