I have to admit, I can barely speak a word of French. And I can't even remember the French name of all of the pastries we had. But I do know that I probably had the best dessert I've ever had in my life. It looked kind of like a churro...only with vanilla flavored custard inside and it was 1.50 Euro. Melted in your mouth and attached itself right on your belly. I've been to alot of European bakeries but this one was far and away my favorite.
I can tell you that what made this bakery stand out initially was its presentation. We were there for the Tour de France. And this bakery pulled out all the stops to be festive. Their entire display case was set up to look like a raceway. (Instantly appealing to my ADHD inner youth.) Second, they were friendly to Americans. Theres nothing worse than being overseas and trying to speak French only to have someone raise their nose in disgust that you don't know exactly how to pronounce a word. (Look, I didn't make fun of the fact that your dudes are wearing capri jeans, so maybe you could cut me some slack as I try really hard to be part of your culture!) This bakery was extremely friendly. The lady behind the counter had a warm welcoming smile. She and her food single-handedly changed my opinion of France. Worth checking out. read more
