The two employees that always worked there were so incredibly kind. They made excellent espresso, I would usually order just a espresso doppio ( espresso double) and it was always served with a nice 'garcon' chocolate. This was the best way to start my day. They had a nice welcoming interior with comfortable seating, fast and reliable wi-fi and the day's paper every day. They also made delicious lattes, smoothies, and sandwiches. I would often go here to study with coffee, and ended up staying for dinner and stayed productive. This was a hidden gem off of the beaten path, but close to the university and close enough to two main roads. The more people I shared this place with, the more I saw so many people finally understand what all the hype about french cafes was about. Good coffee, good environment, and good conversation. Many thanks to this cafe, for their coffee fueled me through even the hardest of school weeks. Merci a Vous et sante!

I love everything I tried. The options span very sweet (chocolate desserts) to less sweet (nutty cookie bars). When I went before work hours, the place wasn't too busy, so I was able to get in and out. This Boulangerie accepts credit card. For English speakers like myself, just FYI one of two of the employees there did speak English.

Pau and the surrounding area are beautiful, restaurants are exceptional and it's worth a couple of weeks. It's a great base to tour and oddly there's not very many tourists, which is another plus for, well, tourists.

I had read about the shop in the local paper when they received one of the highest ratings in France. They are also a member of Relais Desserts. The shop is lovely. You can pick from approximately 40 chocolates and make either a 28 piece or 40 piece box. The flavors run from the traditional to the exotic and they are all delicious. My favorites are coffee, maïs (sort of like popcorn), and passionfruit. Cookies and chocolate covered orange pieces are also available. The shop clerk was very helpful and friendly. I will be returning there at the end of the month when I have another appointment in town. The chocolates are a wonderful treat (and I imagine that they would make a nice gift for someone too)

Because of the recommendation of coworkers who had been before, I checked out this wine and liquor…read moreshop in the heart of Pau. You'll find no shortage of local wine, including Jurançon. The lady who helped us is British originally so she could converse with us (Americans) thoroughly on recommendations. We even received complementary tasters of local liqueurs, and I purchased a verbena one. Employees were hard at work setting up a big table for a private dinner to be held that night in the middle of the shop. A local winemaker had also composed his own music and painted his own wine bottle labels for them to have a night celebrating his works. Clearly this shop supports other local events too as they have posters for other Pau festivals/concerts.
