Specialties
Auld Reekie Tours, who privately own the largest section of Historical underground vaults, in Edinburgh's Old Town, dating back to the 1700's, specialise in Historical/Haunted Vaults and Graveyard Tours, along with Historical and Cultural walking tours in both Edinburgh's Old and New Town, and now all our tours are available scheduled and private and available in Mandarin also.
Unique to Auld Reekie Tours 1700's underground vaults is our Stone Circled Pagan Temple, where famously one of 'Most Haunted Live' staff stepped into the circle and ended up with a wide gash to his knee, as seen on live television, and to this day, some public come out with scratch marks on their bodies.
Our Legendary Haunted Vault has a high incidence of poltergeist attacks on tour groups.
See what was the U.K.'s only underground working Witchcraft Temple used by "The Source Coven of the Blue Dragon", for their Coven meetings, marriages and hand fastings.
Then onto our Torture Exhibition with instruments dating back to the late 1500's and early 1600's from Nuremberg and Bamburg Castles in Germany, and used to extract confessions and put to death mainly witches.
Finally let us take you from "One Spirit to Another" and finish your scheduled/private evening tour in Scotland's most haunted pub, with 3 bars on 3 levels and open to 3-00am. Pub includes a dance room, pool room, free 40 seater Cinema, chill out lounges and lots more!
BE AFRAID, BE VERY AFRAID.
History
Established in 1995.
Owner Ian McKain - has extensive business experience in Edinburgh. The underground vaults are actually owned by him, making it distinct from other similar underground attractions in Edinburgh which are leased out.
In addition to Auld Reekie, Ian also owns the Banshee Labyrinth, 'Aye tours' - a company which sells MP3 and downloadable tours, Edinburgh Visit Scotland (Robert Luis Stevenson tours) and Scotland's Attractions - a new online ticketing website. In the 70s he created the largest set of rehearsal studios in the world here in Edinburgh's vaults. And he owned and opened Edinburgh's first licensed 'Arts and Entertainments complex' (Nicol Edwards) now leased for trading as the Banshee Labyrinth.
