Belfountain is a prosperous little hamlet located at the end of the Forks of the Credit Road, which is a winding, twisty road popular with cyclists, motorcyclists, families in minivans out for an autumn day trip looking at the fall foliage, and those with convertibles seeking an out-of-the-city reason to really let their top down. It's about an hour northwest from Toronto. At this tiny main strip, there are a series of stores catering mostly to tourists. The Credit Creek Country Store is an eccentric store with an eclectic collection of jewellery, clothing, furniture, home decor and other knik knacks. I ended up with a bracelet designed by a woman from Hong Kong who has them made in China. I also purchased a beautiful leather wristlet that feels like it has more 'quality' embedded in its construction than a lot of other things I would find in Toronto for a similar price. The owner was also very friendly. For a relaxing day trip through the side roads of Ontario, I would definitely recommend visiting Belfountain and this main strip. There isn't much in the hamlet for tourists that would occupy you for more than a couple hours at best, but the journey there is more than half the fun, especially with that roller coaster ride of a road.
