Peppercorns, like a shining ray of hope in a dark dismal pizza pit has restored my faith in Australian pizza. Now, I will say that there is some great Italian style pizza in Melbourne and this is not it. This is greasy, cheesy gives you a food baby pizza that will render you unable to move due to fullness for several days afterwards. I am infinity per cent willing to drive the hour that it takes to get to doncaster to get some of this in my belly. I would recommend pepperoni lovers and obviously OBVIOUSLY get Chicago style. Do note, however that it is NOT deep dish, just thicker deep pan crust.

All our pizzas were vegetarian, the sauce was well seasoned but not too complex, the dough is a bit too chewy, probably due to a high gluten content. Mushroom variant was pleasantly fragrant and the classic margarita had the right amount of cheese. It could use a bit more basil to complement the char on the dough. Overall a solid start, with a few tweaks down the road this should be a true Neapolitan pizza place.

Thought I'd give it a go and see for myself: A friend and I decided on a well deserved study break and headed over to zero95 for a woodfire pizza. We arrived around 1845 on a Wednesday night to find the place bustling! Outside the door is a crate full of blankets prepping those brave souls who choose to dine outside in winter - nice touch! We walked in to find a queue of people waiting to pay for their takeaway orders and meals blocking the small enterance. This lead to wait staff not noticing us standing there hoping to be seated. After asking the cashier for a seat we were finally seated. We ordered the Arancini which to our delight was served with delicious bolognese sauce and topped with fried cheese! We ordered the Etna pizza - San Marzano Tomato, Fior Di Latte, N'Duja spicy paste, Roasted peppers and Basil (see pic) which was as delicious as it sounds! The pizza base was soft and fluffy.. green, red and yellow peppers added character and the spicy paste was tasty with a touch of heat. Half way through our meal we were asked to move to the bar as they needed our table for a group booking. We willingly obliged to being reseated despite not being advised of this when originally seated. Our new seat was next to the coffee machine, service area and main through way - very noisy and congested! This new seating put a dampner on our dining experience. Although the desserts looked amazing - we opted to get the bill and leave as we felt we were in the way of wait staff, other patrons and the long line of people waiting for a table. The girl on the phone didn't know what that was but went away and asked and came back to the phone and said "yes we have jalapeños". 52 mins later (told 30 min delivery) the driver shows up asking for $28.90 when the girl on the phone told me $21.90. I call Pachinos while the driver is standing there so I can dispute the price. The girl on the phone tells me "the extra charge is for the extra add ons". I think to myself $7 to add jalepenos to my pizza is steep but whatever. I get to my apartment, open the pizza and no jalepenos there. I call them and tell them they charged me $7 for jalepenos and they didn't even put it on..... Guess what they told me!?!? "Sorry we're out of jalepenos"........ I just hung up. Now I have never written a review about anything in my life before. What caused me to go to this site and other sites, was the fact that my pizza was 1. Cold 2. Soggy from the raw capsicum and watery pineapple. My girlfriends pizza had garlic paste smothered all over her pizza that was obviously put on with a squeeze tube after the pizza went through the oven. Disgusted!!!!!

I'd call it comfort food they serve here. My marinara pizza reminded me of the good ones I used to eat in the old days out in the 'burbs. Nothing fancy about it but plenty of good tomato sauce and ample seafood and expertly cooked. A seriously good old style pizza. Not gourmet, not wood fired, just old style with crusts you loved to finish. I really liked it. The other dishes at the table were good too and there were lots of nods all round. They also make a great coffee here. Mine was a beauty. A final compliment for the servers here tonight especially the older lady who mainly attended to us. The service was fantastic. Brisk, efficient, friendly and at times, witty. It helped make for a very nice night. As I wandered off to go home I began to reflect on how little I really knew. The chances of me coming to a place like this without a special occasion and being wedged into going we're probably zero. It would have been my loss.
