Carnitas burrito BEST BURRITO I EVER HAD
    Shannon S.

Staff was awesome Burrito--AMAZING My margarita, however, was really NOT good. I was disappointed in that.

This place has gone downhill in a hurry. The servings are still large, but as commented by others, the food is bland with little Mexican flavor. Your only choice for a little picante is a bottle of Louisiana-made Tabasco sauce placed on the table. You do not need to be Mexican to be offended by this. To top it all, the owner is intentionally printing the suggested tip chart on the invoice based on the total INCLUDING TAX. The servers apologized saying that the owner wants it that way and they can not help it. Feel free to disregard my previous recommendation and skip this place.

This restaurant was awesome!!! My family and I stopped there for a late lunch yesterday. We are so glad that we found this place. The atmosphere is great. Very colorful and very authentic. The waitresses and staff were awesome. They were very friendly and very helpful. They even made my son a special chorro con tres leches that he loved. The food was great!!!! I loved my burrito. Great taste and left me very full. My wife and my two sons also loved their meals. Whenever e we are in the area, we will definitely return to this restaurant.

We stopped in on a whim while walking by and so glad we did!!! The ambiance was relaxing and the service was exceptional. Then came the food! My husband was raised 8 miles from the Mexico border by only Spanish speaking and Mexican food cooking parents. We've had Mexican food many places and the Queao Flameado was amazing as were the shrimp enchiladas. So glad we stopped by!!

I didn't eat here I just came for drinks ! The bartender was really nice ! his name was steve. We sat down in the bar and he gave us the menu for drinks. Happy hour Margaritas $ 5 Beer -1 and the second one was free. Pretty good for the area! Old San Juan is one of the most expensive areas in the whole island. We started with frozen coconut margaritas ! great choice ! they were great ! 2 round ! jalapeño margaritas ! wow!amazing ! the bartender recommend on the rocks but I already tried one on the rocks (in another restaurant ) and I was in the mood for frozen margaritas. It was great! not extra spicy , you can actually taste the jalapeño flavor and you can feel your lips on fire but in a good way ! 3 round ! banana margaritas ! very good ! I don't like bananas but this guy knows how to mix the flavor! it was sweet and tasty! definitely I recommend this place for drinks ! everyone is very nice and attentive!

Refried beans that look like they got squeezed out of a tube

Came to this spot after touring San Juan. It took us 1.5 hours to just get our meal. The server kept saying it was due to the kitchen being backed up, even though there was only 7 tables seated at the restaurant. Even the appetizers took an hour to come out. When our food came out it was cold. The beans looked like it was squeezed out of a tube. Food was subpar. I DO NOT RECOMMEND. Server was rude when we questioned what was taking so long. Had additional charges on our bill that we never asked for or received, and was told we were lying when we brought it to their attention. Terrible establishment, terrible service.

We're in Old San Juan for one night after a trans-Atlantic cruise. We wandered around a bit and decided Mexican food sounded good, so ended up at Aureola. Unfortunately, it was a disappointing experience. The servers are friendly, but it was the blandest Mexican food I've ever had. I had pork enchiladas and my hubby had shrimp enchiladas. The pork was tasty but dry. The shrimp were undercooked. The cheese on top appeared to be canned cheese sauce and was as tasteless as can be. I guess we shouldn't have expected Puerto Rico to do Mexican food well, but this was surprisingly bad.

I'm so tired of restaurants claiming to be "Mexican" when they have ZERO idea of how to properly create Mexican food. Honestly Is this a Taco al pastor? Or are these people high AF and don't understand that Tacos are one of the most sacred dishes for a calimexirican, like myself! First of all, carne al Pastor is NOT supposed to look nor taste like this!! You also don't use that ghetto cheese and bland ass tortillas at an "authentic Mexican place" where the price of your tacos are about $5 a piece. If you find yourself in Old San Juan DO NOT come to this place and expect a Mexican food experience. 1 star for the decor, since its the ONLY Mexican concept this place has right. I can go on for days but I'll just leave this here...

    Carnitas fajitas

Stopped in here after wandering around old San Juan trying to find food. After we ordered I looked at the reviews and started to get worried. I ordered the steak fajitas and the place was empty, which was referenced in two other reviews. We were pleasantly surprised. The strawberry margarita I had was great, as were the steak fajitas. The food came fairly quickly and we were not disappointed! We also ordered the chips and guacamole, and that was enough to eat as a meal!

Nachos Pancho Villa, feeds 2-3 people for less than $15. The photo doesn't show much but it's a bit deeper into the plate.

One of my favorite Mexican restaurants. Very well located near historical areas and very spacious on the inside. Food has always been good in my experience and employees have been very helpful.

The vibe was great, the food was fresh and well made, and the service was friendly overall. A fun bonus: we actually got to see the famous rock band Maná dining there, which was such a cool surprise! We ordered quite a bit--the chips and queso, chips and guac, hot sauce, tamale, rice and beans, kids cheese quesadilla, and veggie fajitas. The kids' quesadilla was a huge hit with our 5-year-old (who is a picky eater and devoured it). The veggie fajitas were decent and tasty, though for the price I would have liked a bit more on the plate in terms of sides. There was a small hiccup where cilantro was accidentally added to one of my dishes, and it did take quite a while for the corrected dish to come out, but they were very kind about it. That said, everything else was enjoyable and the overall experience was still very good. Overall, a great spot for solid Mexican food in Old San Juan with a fun atmosphere and fresh flavors.

Duck Quesadillas: When I think of a duck quesadilla, I think of something that has a rich profile, but this was surprisingly humble. The duck, mushroom, and cheese all harmonized well to create a symphonic doughy pillow. Definitely recommend it. Grouper Fillet: I don't get the chance to eat Grouper often, but when I do it always hits. I can confidently say that my experience has continued. Despite the bed of sweet potatoes, you could still make out the distinct semi-sweet flavor of the fish. Also the creamy sauce paired perfectly with both the potatoes and fish. Of all the different restaurants I could've chosen, I think this was one of the best ones to end off my night in Old San Juan. Looking forward to coming back!

Normally when I'm on vacation, I start to get a little homesick towards the end, but I decided to make the best of it. I wanted to try some tequila--even though I should've done a rum tour instead, but I didn't feel like being a pirate! So, I stumbled across this place, and the only thing that lured me in was the happy hour and the music. I was feeling a little down to leave the beach, so I figured the happy hour would make me happy, and that's exactly what it did. The decor made me feel as though I was right on the beach with my brown toes sinking in the sand, Ray-Bans catching a tan. The food was amazing, the staff was good, and of course, the drinks were popping. They normally say alcohol is a downer, but for me, it was the opposite! It brought me right up where I needed to be--3,000 feet in the clouds on my Frontier flight. The bathrooms were clean and, of course, the establishment was as well. I highly recommend this place. A good thing to know is that I didn't have to rush to the bathroom and my stomach didn't hurt after I ate. The food settled well, which means the food is clean and everyone is washing their hands! My partner is Mexican and I'm a world traveler who has eaten Mexican food cooked by Mexicans (partners, suegras, cooks, sister in laws, etc) for 14 years. I don't want to see yellow cheese and any sort of lettuce on my tacos. Like everywhere in San Juan, the atmosphere is rustic burned out bar, aka perfect. The woman running the front of the house was casual and friendly, and unlike some of our dining experiences here, prompt and attentive. We ordered the special mole enchiladas and alhambre, plus elotes, drinks and desert. The menu is something I would be excited to explore in the United States, lots of traditional dishes including several moles, birria, cochinita pibil, tacos, etc. It's southern Mexican cuisine, and when we learned the chef is from Puebla it made perfect sense. The food was excellent. After days without spicy anything (why does everywhere offer Tabasco?) we were excited to have three homemade hot sauces brought to our table. The mole was very special, and I've eaten like six kinds of mole in Oaxaca. Enchiladas with perfectly done vegetables covered half in white and half in the more traditional dark/mole Poblano. I wish I could recreate it over and over at home. My partner's food was also excellent, and everything we saw coming out looked great. So sad we can't come again soon.
