I love the few Aurora doctors I have, but I will NEVER again go to their ER. I was wheeled in screaming in pain, was made to sit through intake as I'm screaming, and I was wheeled out screaming an hour later after being treated like a drug seeker. Two days later, I was taken by ambulance (still screaming) to Ascension Mercy and was admitted immediately for intractable pain. Apparently, Aurora needs an acute diagnosis in order to provide care and, if they can't get one from an x-ray, off you go. I never saw a doctor, only a PA who was cold as ice. I asked for a neurosurgeon and she said they didn't have one. The ORAL medication given to me while there was laughable. I was discharged because there was "nothing else they could do." Now I'm sure they have their protocol and probably followed it to the letter. But therein lies the problem. I felt, and told them, that this was cruelty to allow someone to suffer so horribly and do nothing. Are the policy makers completely devoid of empathy? Or does the DEA have its foot on the neck of healthcare? I don't care which, the result is the same. We lose. Ultimately, it is Aurora's loss. Ascension had me inpatient for a week, they gave me what was needed to help control my pain, Ascension at Home was there for me when I was discharged, and I am in my third month of PT. Their care was just that...care. Wonderful doctors and nurses. I had intended to change my PCP as I moved a distance from where her office was located. I was looking at Aurora because I had my cancer care there and they were wonderful. I also have an endocrinologist there who I would follow to the end of the earth. But I've chosen an Ascension doctor because I would NEVER again go through Aurora if I needed an ER. To add insult to injury, they've been billing me since January $1000 for that visit. I may reimburse them for the two tablets they provided me, de minimus as that is. I gratefully paid for the cancer care, and all the specialist's copays, but I will not pay to be treated like a fake and a junkie, much less left to suffer. Worst experience ever. read more

Went on vacation and forgot my critical heart medication. I SCREWED UP! Called my Advocate Aurora doctor after hours to get a prescription sent to a local Pharmacy. The triage nurse that answered clearly understood the situation and promised a response in a couple hours. They finally responded FOUR DAYS LATER! By then I had called off the vacation, returned home and taken the needed medication. UNBELIEVABLY POOR CARE! read more

By the time you get an operator who knows how to work the switchboard for transfers, you might bleed out. Transfered a few times and no one who answered knew which dept to transfer me. I will NEVER step foot in the oshkosh aurora emergency room or hospital again. I was treated like a drug seeker, denied an actual patient advocate, discharged without being able to fully sit up or walk. Its not life threatening so i was discharged. While trying to leave, the pain of trying to sit and stand, i was having difficulty leaving. These assholes called security on me telling them i was refusing to leave. I was labeled as hostile and non compliant because i advocated for myself. I had to be taken home by ambulance. Im still unable to stand up or walk or even sit up for that matter. I have never been treated this poorly in my life. They didnt even examine my back or ask what causes the pain to occur. They observed me resting comfortably when i wasnt moving. I'm tired of being transferred to a recording when I'm calling for a healthcare concern. Then you are put on hold for an eternity and then get cut off. Call back wait again. Relay story only to have to relay again when someone picks up the phone. Then that person is going to confer with the doctor's office. Calls back tells me to go to urgent care. Can't get ahold of them to set up an appointment. Sent to same recording nightmares. The phone system is broken. Old people that don't feel good cannot deal with this. People that are sick can't deal with this. Advocate Aurora sucks! read more

My E/R experiences were both awful. Both time only one other person was in waiting room, yet I had to sit in waiting room 3 hours, in excruciating pain. Then they rush you into a room, get you all hooked up, and then disappear. The nurse gave me an IV for my pain. She said she would check back in a couple minutes to see if it helped, and an hour later she still had not returned. The doctor diagnosed me with thrush, which it was not, I had an auto-immune disease. The right side of my face was twice it's normal size, and she said to contact my dentist, and subscribed me an antibiotic. The 2nd visit, again, after waiting forever, a female doctor came into my room. She looked disheveled and exhausted even slurring her words. I asked when I could go home and she pushed the pc cart away from, threw up her hands, and left the room. During a visit to the walk-in clinic, I was prescribed Penicillin. My records showed I had an allergy to Penicillin. I will suffer, as long as possible, before ever again having to go the the E/R . read more

I am so disappointed in the way that my experience with one of the specialty Nurses has been that it has left me in tears after visits, I feel the moment she steps into the room I am being intaragated like a criminal because I take tramadol for my fibromyalgia pain, from the first appointment to now I have been badgered about it, she can't just leave it alone, she will twist my words, try to confuse me, I am now down to the bare minimum without 1 extra tablet for times when she is not there to authorize a refill on weekends, holidays, her Fridays off, she is passive aggressive and she gives off this vibe that you cannot believe or trust anything she says, I actually start to get sick to my stomach when I know that my appointment is coming up, when I started to push back on the pain medicine subject she said that I should go elsewhere for Pain relief, she referred me to your own Pain Clinic there at Aurora, but I kid you not, they do not and will not prescribe pain medication, they are too busy grabbing as much Opioid settlement money as they can which has a clause to divert everyone away from any Opioid and we will fund whatever unproven quacky therapy as long as it does not include an Opioid. read more

So my four-year-old son was taken to the emergency department for a temperature and severe vomiting at approximately 9:00 at night he was taken back into a room in the emergency department at 9:40 and then till to come back out into the waiting room while he is vomiting and the staff at the reception desk had no answers and no nothing to tell anybody they had no answers barely did their job at all so I took my son to Mercy emergency department because I was told it would be at least 2 hours before he could be in a room at Aurora Mercy emergency room got us in within 15 minutes now I asked you what would you do I don't know what Aurora is doing but they need to get a better staff in the emergency room for sure this is a child we were talking about read more

No one knows what they are doing. I called to get images of my last mammogram. After an hour on the phone and transferred to three different people, they told me the best way to get the images was to go online. I went online and filled out the paperwork and release forms and they called me and said I had to go directly to the facility to request this. Also, each person I spoke with either had babies screaming in the background or the TV blasted. So unprofessional and a waste of 2 hours. read more

We are here for the birth of our new baby boy. The room is big and has everything you could need and then some. From the time we checked in the nursing staff has gone above and beyond with care medically and personally. Our Dr is spectacular. The food from the cafeteria is great for hospital food. Only advice I can give is order the room service for $10, it will save you a lot of money. There truly is nothing bad I can say about being here for 4 days. Well done Aurora!!! read more

I feel sorry for the entire staff who work at the hospital. The staff will go out of their way to make sure that you have all your needs me. The MAJOR PROBLEM is with the management running the hospital, they made a total mess of the phone system , I called trying to talk to the doctors nurse and after being transferred 3 times I thought I was talking to his nurse to find out I was taking too some person not even in the hospital who was reading my file. I had an MRI done 2 weeks ago that I needed sent to a different hospital and as of today it was still not done. During the MRI they were playing music for me to block out the machine sounds and twice during the test I got to listen to POLITICAL COMMERCIALS for only one party. Management is on a direct coarse to totally destroy what used to be an excellent hospital. read more

Don't see ambir dorn . She is working for the system not the patient. I have continual shoulder arm problems. Went to her repeatedly X-rays showed nothing so she sent me to pt even though she hadn't diagnosed the problem. Not even talk of MRI or actually digging into my problem just 2000 dollars with of pt for what . Shouldn't you figure out what the problem is before you treat it. Sad you say you were out to help but failed to actually try to find my problem. I'm pretty sure she didn't believe me so she just ran someone with real problems in an expensive circle. read more

A bad place to have your loved one stay[ Nurses are so short staffed that they take a long time to answer call lights. even up to the point that my loved one was left to urinate on himself1Doctors did not confer with each other to best help the patient I was told by the hospital Doctor that my loved one was exaggerating his pain! When I asked what kind of Doctor he was he said that he is a traveling Doc. My loved one was in emergency until 1am before he was given a room. He was so bruised from so many attempts to do a blood draw! A paramedic was working in the EMG because lack of nurses!!! I needed a ride to the hospital with my loved one because of bad weather and he was to weak to get him in the car by myself and that driver had to stay out in the parking lot for hours in the nasty cold weather waiting for me to give him news of what was happening. IT was the longest four days of my loved one and my lives! JUST A NIGHTMARE! My loved one needed a C Pap machine and it was never hooked up for him until 11pm of the 3rd night!!! I felt so helpless at home knowing that I had to leave him there which such bad care!!! The food was really nasty and not many choices. We were happy with Dr Lake who did figure out one solution and actually cane in to see him, They had a hospital chaplain that came in to visit and she was very helpful. All in all Aurora of Oshkosh is not a good hospital to bring a loved one for the care they deserve!!! Chose another hospital; we will never ever go back there!!!!!!! Jenny A. J read more

I am at a loss in reading the comments that are critical of Aurora Medical Group in Oshkosh. My personal experience has been nothing but exemplary. The medical staff are always, without exception polite, professional, attentive and knowledgeable. Most recently, and I might add, for the first time in 30+ years I found myself in need of the emergency room. The staff were phenomenal! I was seen without any delay, the billing clerk waited until I was being seen and more comfortable before seeking the insurance information, etc., the nurses where more attentive that I thought possible, and the doctor did everything plus. Perhaps those who have been critical had bad experiences. A one-off is always possible. However, I would suggest they revisit the Aurora Medical Center again. I believe they will experience the care, professionalism, and kindness I did. read more

Ahhh...another move, another new doctor. I hate finding new doctors, which must be why I seem to go through so many of them, between deciding I don't like someone and/or moving every couple of years. Fortunately, I think I've gotten lucky with the women's clinic at Aurora! One phone call settled the question of whether they took my insurance and got me an appointment with Brenna Reimer, an NP/midwife, for the following week. I got a little mixed up trying to locate the clinic in the building, but the front desk was more than happy to direct me. Once upstairs, I was handed a sheaf of paperwork, which of course I didn't even come close to finishing, but the nurse who took me in just took the information from me down into her computer -- no getting yelled at for being slow on what I like to call the "dead relatives test." She then stepped out and Brenna came in. I love it when you get to meet doctors while you're still fully dressed. It makes it so much less awkward! She took plenty of time to discuss my concerns and made some notes before departing to let me change. When she came back, she did the exam all by herself (I'm always suspicious of doctors who can't seem to function without at least one nurse present) and chatted pleasantly throughout it. Brenna clearly explained what tests she would run and how long the results would take, so I knew exactly when to expect her call (and she called herself, none of this "The doctor says xyz, but don't ask me any questions, because I don't know anything" crap I've gotten in the past). Brenna did indeed call me with my test results and explained exactly what I needed to know. I was then shocked to receive a letter in the mail with the same information -- I've never gotten that before! Overall, for having to see a doctor, this experience was pretty painless. I guess I'll be back next year...here's hoping I don't move again in the meantime! read more

Terrible waited in a room for three hours after being told they be back to place an IV in and give pain meds

Came into the ER with a torn Quad Ligament. The staff in the ER was pleasant and efficient. Sent home with a brace, crutches and pain medications. Saw Dr. Shapiro, one of the orthopedic surgeons. Had an MRI. Dr. Shapiro reviewed the report with me and gave me a couple of options for treatment. Because the tear was quite severe I opted for surgical repair. The repair was done the next morning. The anesthesia department placed a nerve block that really helped with pain control. I had several weeks of physical therapy. The staff was great. Very positive and encouraging. The results have been exceptional. My range of motion is back to normal, and strength is improving markedly. Thanks Aurora. You guys did a great job. read more

I don't know how the medical center is, but if like other aurora facilities, I would assume it's exemplary. HOWEVER, I recommend never using their palliative care in home service. It provided exactly NOTHING my terminally ill husband actually needed, and ended up being beyond disappointing and frustrating in every conceivable way. First, they only would schedule the day of, which was very difficult for us, seeing as my husband has multiple doctor appointments every week. Second, even when we agreed to this, they only literally showed up THREE times, often cancelling at the very last minute. Third, we requested a social worker, who EVENTUALLY got in touch with us, and seemed very nice and very caring.. apparently not. She didn't follow through on a single thing. Fourth, we were finally told that the in home nurse and the social worker would be coming together to our home on a particular day. Once again they cancelled last minute, and to add insult to injury, we later received a phone call to let us know their contract with us had now expired, and our case was being closed. No final visit, no conversation, just a phone message. When I called to speak to the supervisor, Dawn, she did not return my call for TWO WEEKS, and then called literally while I was leaving for an appointment for my husband. I asked her to please call me the following day, explaining that we were leaving for the doctor, and I never heard from her again. Ever. I am not only going to write a letter to the program administrator, but report this program to the state, as they are receiving money without providing services. It's called fraud. read more

If I could give 0 stars I would! I used to LOVE aurora but NO MORE! They told me I needed surgery now and then came back 20 mins later and decided they were too busy for me and wanted me to wait in excruciating pain for three days before I could even attempt to schedule the surgery. They gave me pain meds, antibiotics and sent me one my way. Needless to say the pain meds didn't help so I went to Mercy medical center and they had the surgery done within a few short hours! So if you need serious help go to Mercy and save yourself the pain. read more

I had come in for the walk-in clinic and the staff, nurses, and doctors were all wonderful. I am giving my rating, however, because of what took place outside the hospital: the billing. When I had come in, I found out that there was a mix-up with my insurance, so for the time being I had to list myself as uninsured. As expected, I received a billing for that visit as uninsured. I then submitted my insurance to the hospital and they ran the bill through my insurance, which I expected. I received another bill in the mail, this time almost $50 more than the first bill. I was being charged more because I had insurance, because I was following the law! I had called and after speaking with my insurance and Aurora the final answer I got was that they "did not change the price." But there I sat with two different bills in front of me, both asking me to pay different amounts. Apparently, the uninsured discount Aurora gives is more generous than the negotiations they made with my insurance. Now why would they do that if the law requires health insurance? Why would they make a discount for the uninsured that was lower than any deal that they made with an insurance company? Aurora is rewarding those who do not pay monthly insurance fees by giving them a lower price, and punishing those who are already paying for insurance by charging them more. I am a recent graduate and definitely make things tight to afford health insurance, as the law requires. The only explanation I could think of is that Aurora assumes those who are uninsured can not afford insurance and is giving them a lower price out of an attempt at kindness. But those who struggle to make those monthly insurance payments? They are charged more for doing what is legally required of them, while those who do not are rewarded. I am completely outraged at Aurora for this behavior and will not be a patron of theirs again. I encourage you to do the same. P.S. On the side of customer service on the billing end, I was told to leave a voicemail with someone higher up and that they would call me back. It has been over two weeks and there has not even been an attempt at contacting me. read more

Sad,sad,sad.I like my doctor.I like going there.I asked a question about my bill.It sounded like double talk.First this charge covers that,then that charge covers everything the first charge did.I couldn't understand their explanation,so I asked to have them put it on paper for me.For some reason they aren't able to put it into words.After no reply from "risk management" for over a week,I called.She admitted she had done nothing.She hadn't even made copies of the medical records requested.So I call and ask to speak with the administrator,he refuses to speak to me.The first time I called the receptionist pretty much made it sound like he wasn't going to call me.The second time I was just referred back to risk mismanagement.This guy just flat out refused to talk to me via his receptionist. About 5 years ago I was admitted to the er there.I wake up with a catheter in me.At one point I buzz the nurse that I have to go to the john.I can walk,they just don't want to deal with the cath..They tell me to just sh!t the bed,no pan,right in the sheets.About a 1/2 hour later they finally get around to cleaning it up,just bitching the whole time.I could actually see through the door,while I lie waiting in my own sh!t,one of the women at the desk playing a video game on her computer.The next time I have to go I tell them I want to use the toilet.They just tell me to take my cath out myself and use bathroom.Haven't pissed the same since.Lazy Same event I'm dealing with risk mismanagement about recovery for all my medication they ,lost or destroyed while I was there.First it was destroyed,then they said it wasn't it was actually just missing.Same person,nothing for almost a month.I finally call again and leave her a message to "get off her f'''''''kn ass and do her f""""kn job".A bit over the top,yes.She calls the cops who did nothing.Lost 400$ in medication.But now I'm right back in the same spot, being ignored again.I called Milwaukee to see if they could get someone off her duff.I'm really not expecting much at this point,which I believe to be by design.If they just ignore you long enough,or frustrate you enough,you will just give up.Another satisfied customer,at least in their files.Problem solved ,on the books,done. read more
