Definitely pricey, but this grocery store has some of the most unique and large variety of health…read morefoods I have seen in the state. There are two main areas of the store. The main food options are in the second room, and it includes very well-stocked shelves. I was amazed and overwhelmed by the number of snack items they had. There is also a full wall of where your own, loose products like granola and nuts. I arrived in the middle of a weekend day, so there seemed to be not as many vegetables left. For example, I got the last carton of cherry tomatoes. There were also not as large options of vegetables, but I assume that is because most of the produce is local. The second space has a large variety of household and health products. I wonder how popular that part of the store is. One thing I did not like, though, was the prices were not always obviously posted or on the product itself. That always makes me a little worried, especially in a store that is generally on the more expensive side.

I have had much better results, organically, as opposed to dumping chemical fertilizers on everything. There is something to be said about adding beneficial strains of bacteria and fungi to your soil. Plants seem to respond so much better. I'm always on the lookout for new products. From soil ammendments, plant starters, fertilizers and products to improve the compost tea I brew. I found a real gem here! Firstly, Joe, the proprietor, is about the nicest guy you could meet and do business with. He has a passion for organic gardening, agricultural, and turf methods. The first time I stopped in, I ended up staying for about an hour, because he has so much great information and loves to share the results of the products he stocks. And, he answers email awful quick, if I have a question. Great guy! The products sold are all organic. I picked up about 40 pounds of earthworm castings, some crushed crab shell, a new plant starter called Vitazyme (works better than Superthrive IMO), some hydrolyzed fish and seaweed fertilizer, and Joe threw in a sample of a new product (to me anyway) called Quantum Growth. It's a probiotic, teaming with microbes, that I believe can also be used in Hydroponic setups. I just scratched the surface of the products they carry. You can view all of them on the website. I plan to try several other items they carry this summer to test the effectiveness. In all, I highly recommend this place if you are into organic gardening methods, just want to learn more or on the fence about going organic. Joe is an absolute wealth of information, and he's happy to pass it along, if you're interested in or learning about the benefits of organic gardening and turf care. So glad I found this place! I am new to the gluten free thing (henceforth to be referred to as GF, so i dont have to keep typing that)....I mean very new....and I am a LOVER of everything bread related, and the thought of having to go without is not an option for me, I would rather go thrut the massive pains i experience when eating foods that included gluten (if anyone wants to know my story...let me know, amd thinking of starting a blog somewhere where i rate each products I try.... The one thing you will find (and it totally scared the crap out of me when we first bought Aleias Farmhouse white bread.....They WEIGH a TON....as tho if u threw a loaf at someone, it could do serious head damage.! I am NOT kidding! BUT....some sort of remarkable change takes over when these products are heated or toasted.....they morph into a soft yummy tasty bread! It's freaky! Items should be kept in the freezer to remain fresh. Both Whole Foods, Highland Park and Trader Joes seems to sell this brand as well as other brands. As for Aleias, the bread i mentioned, the bag of choc chip cookies are yummy and we have also tried some stuffing (and am hoping i can maybe use the stuffing cubes as some croutons....if not, i will just make my own using some leftover bakery bread..... Let me know if u ever come across a store that sells even more of these items than WFoods...They are a good start, but these baked goods are really wonderful! One reason for the 4 stars and not 5? The stuff is VERY CALORIE AND FAT DENSE! to my dismay, i discovered online (its not on the pkg) that each slice of bread is over 200 calories (230 I think) and 4 grams of fat .....EACH! That is very disheartening for ppl like me who need to also lose weight! It's an amazing place to stock up on weekly produce, grab brunch/pastries/coffee with friends, and dog-watch! On some days, there's even live music/performers. Vendors vary week by week but there's usually a good variety of seasonal produce, baked goods, prepared foods, coffee, local honey, dairy, eggs, and meats. Personal favorites: The fruit from woodland farm is amazing - they had samples of their plums and after trying one, I had to buy a pint! Other stands I find myself going back to are Seacoast Mushrooms (great variety and mushrooms are so flavorful!), Sono baking (delicious pastries and English muffins), and the jitter bus (excellent coffee to sip on as you're browsing the market).

I asked someone on the street if there was a store in the area and they pointed me to this store. Now I'm going to be honest, it's not the best area in New Haven, Connecticut but sometimes the best food are in holes in the wallI, or in the hood . I was just going to get some chips but I seen they were selling wings and I wanted to try them out. I was a little concerned about the wings because they were big wings and the last time I ordered wings that big from an establishment, they were not cooked all the way through. As I walking back towards the school, I took a bite of the chicken and OH MY GOD!!! You're talking about flavors that were just dancing on my tongue. The chicken was cooked perfectly, the flavors were delicious, and that crunch was out of this world. I had to write this review because I had to tell someone!! lol. Such a great local farm. This Summer, I signed up for the…read moreCSA program. Each Monday afternoon, for 18 weeks or so, I went to pick up my 1/3 share of fruits and veggies. Pick up was super convenient, I was in and out each time in 5 minutes or less. It was so nice to be surprised by the weekly offerings. For the price, I think it factored out to costing about $11 each week and what I received was valued far beyond that. I even got some items I typically wouldn't normally buy, such as beets, swiss chard, cabbage, etc. It was a wonderful opportunity to try out new recipes with these too! The 1/3 share was so much for our family of 4 that we couldn't even keep up with the amount eating it each week. I ended up freezing tons of the fresh corn and squash to use later this fall for chili and crock pot soups. I would totally recommend signing up if you can!
