Ah! My second home! Whenever I am in Würzburg, I always pay a visit to Hugendubel, and in…read moreparticular, the English book section. What I love about this store is that they never seem to mind if you read some of the book before buying (they have places to sit, just for this purpose!). You can also order stuff, which normally takes 24 hours to arrive, and there is a small coffee shop area. The only bad thing I have to say about my heaven is that they are very inflexible about the book pricing. There have been many times when Amazon has seriously outpriced them on certain books, but Hugendubel refuses to reduce their prices to compete. I find it very hard to believe that they don't check Amazon to find out what their biggest competitor is selling books for. Yet months later, the books in Hugendubel sit there with their old more expensive prices. Despite that little niggle, this is the best place to pick up your books, if you are in the area.

This was just what I needed. I'd say this is a medium-sized bookstore chain, with a pretty nice…read morefeeling to it, though it is not as personal as a privately owned establishment. I was able to find German-language books on any subject, and there is a pretty good English-language section there, too. A nice selection of history, gardening, cooking, fiction, dictionaries like Langenscheidt, what must be the largest selection of Teubner cookbooks on earth, Dr Oetker cookbooks, and more. The employees were helpful and friendly and helped me hunt for a book title I wanted. The employees were kind of funny, actually. I was trying to speak German to them, but they gave me a blank look and immediately started speaking perfect English back to me. I must have been murdering their language and didn't know it, or have a horrble American accent, or both. Oh well. Spending some time in this place is a nice way to enjoy the evening, pouring over books, dreaming of things you'd like to do or places to see, learning about the larger world around you. This store is in Wiesbaden, Germany; I don't know why the address is shown in North Carolina. Enjoy.

Open since 1986 this cool little bookstore has an awesome collection of rare and interesting books…read moreand is spread over many floors. It houses way more books than it looks like it was from the outside and has a really quaint and cozy bookstore vibe. The staff was also very polite and we were able to find some really interesting titles. As you would guess most of the titles are in German, but I was able to find many English versions as well. It's free to enter and I believe this is a must visit while in Heidelberg, especially for any reading fans.

They even had a whole bunch of VERY OLD books in English. Under the big table on the left side;…read morethree shelves - and more books behind those. Reasonable too. Minus one star because they're very very dusty. My eyes were itchy after.
