Dr. Brisley is literally the best ever. I had a neck injury 7 years ago from taking self defense classes with many neurological symptoms like dizziness, numbness, and many other symptoms. Dr. Brisley was the first doctor to be able to confirm the pattern of dysfunction to my neck would be consistent with a headlock, which was a relief just to finally get an answer. This gentle practice worked miracles on my body in the first five minutes, and one month later my body is continuing the process of healing after decades of enduring frequent and often severe pain. I am so incredibly grateful to Dr. Brisley. I tried EVERYTHING before I went to her, and nothing else worked. I have had a "bad" neck with tension and low-level pain for as long as I can remember, which I'm guessing was contributed to by two car accidents when I was 5/6 years old that I barely remember. As an adult in my search for relief from ages 20-40, I did pilates, tried dozens of different pillows, stretched, spent a lot on massage, and went to four different chiropractors to try to resolve neck pain/stiffness and hip pain and rotation on one side. They could always adjust my hip and temporarily ease the pain, but they were often unable to adjust my neck---it would tense up to an extreme degree the moment it was touched no matter how hard I tried to relax. One chiropractor took x-rays of my neck and told me I had pre-arthritis at the ripe old age of 30. I pretty much gave up on chiropractic because it didn't offer any permanent results. My last chiropractor suggested that my hip and neck could be connected and there was a special form of chiropractic that focused on the upper cervical spine only--but I wasn't ready to give more time to chiropractors at that point. I always asked my doctors for help as well. They all told me I had tension headaches from working at a computer and should adjust my posture at my desk, try yoga/stretching/etc., and keep taking over the counter pain killers as needed. I just hated taking naproxen almost every day. The yoga felt great but didn't give relief to the low-level constant pain. I lived this way until a minor fall 6 years ago that caused a disc herniation and pain/tingling down my arm. The orthopedic surgeon I saw said we could try a steroid injection and hopefully my body would heal on its own, but surgery could be in my future. No new solutions offered. Luckily, the injection did resolve the tingling, but slowly I developed the worst headaches of my life that would come and go a few times a month at the base of my skull and the back of my head. I did everything in my power to ensure a perfectly ergonomic setup at my desk and no eye strain---it just didn't work, and the headaches continued. The Atlas Orthogonal method did not involve any hand manipulation of the neck or violent movements, used math/geometry to calculate the changes needed, and had medical journal articles proving it had worked wonders for certain patients---it seemed so much more precise and scientific than usual chiropractic---so I went but had little hope! I knew my x-rays would show a bad neck but even I was shocked at how badly misaligned I had become---especially my C1 vertebrae. With one tap, my C1 was gently pushed back where it belonged. Nobody would believe that I instantly felt at least 50% better. Even the headache I had that day disappeared and I felt I could stand up straight with no effort! And it just keeps getting better over the last few weeks since Dr. Brisley made ONE adjustment. Individual muscles all over my neck, back, and hips take turns feeling a bit sore with a kind of post-workout pain so I can tell they are figuring out how to re-align and share the load, and NO headaches. It really is a miracle for me---I'm so grateful, and often want to cry when I get out of bed in the morning and feel fantastic. I didn't even realize how much pain I had gotten used to as my "normal" state. I know this is a long journey to (hopefully) 100% function but if I end up needing some physical therapy I think that now it will work. Dr. Brisley is nothing short of amazing!! With 1 treatment, all of my symptoms were greatly relieved, with subsequent treatments making noticeable progress towards my return to a healthy / whole person. I chose to drive 3.5 hours from Dallas to see Dr. Brisley based on her diplomas, experience and extensive / excellent Yelp reviews. I know I made the right choice based on my immediate relief of symptoms, which no other health professional has achieved even incrementally. In addition to being an excellent educator about the patient's condition and treatment plan, she begins each session with a baseline of progress to date and emotional support for staying the course to get to the desired end state / goal. Age 5, I was in the front seat of the car with no seat belt (different laws for different times) and hit my head on the dashboard when the driver hit a pothole. This resulted in acquired epilepsy, with 2 years of non-convulsive / absence seizures and 1 grand mal / generalized tonic-clonic seizure at the age of 7. The last seizure caused complete memory eradication / loss prior to that occurrence. I never regained my memory before that event. The seizures and epilepsy never returned. Age 56, I was hit in the forehead with a high velocity tennis ball, at close range. I experienced a debilitating concussion followed by protracted Post Concussion Syndrome. My symptoms included headaches, migraines, extreme fatigue, dizziness, vertigo, nausea, light & noise sensitivity, spacial disorientation, double vision, blurred vision, lack of appetite, weight loss, brain fog, short term memory loss, cognitive issues, irritability, depression, anxiety and suicidal thoughts. I have been seeing Dr. Brisley for almost four months. About 8 years ago I was diagnosed with Meniere's Disease...a vestibular disorder which affects the inner ear causing balance issues, severe dizziness and vertigo, nausea, hearing loss, fatigue and more. It can be pretty debilitating (especially with four small children). I have managed to keep the symptoms at bay for the past three years with excellent diet, but had started slowly getting all the symptoms back the past 6 months to the point they were full blown again. I had never heard of this method until three weeks ago, and then called to get more information. Dr. Brisley answered all my questions and advised me of the process and the cost going forward. I was at a point where I was desperate because traditional chiro methods stopped showing any progress, and I was advised by a previous provider to avoid certain activities until I was better... Overnight I had agonizing pain in my hips and body and could no longer walk; my right arm I could no longer move. If I moved two inches, pain would be unbearable in my body! I could not lay flat on my stomach or back! I was rushed to Methodist hospital where they kept me overnight with steroid and pain shots. They couldn't help me because I could not lay flat for the MRI and they sent me home. I began praying for a path to receive relief from the pain. I cannot say enough positive things about Dr. Brisley. My life changed in so many ways after meeting her. She takes a whole-body approach to healing and recovery, including emotional and psychospiritual. I have a very unique case. I've had autoimmune disease, with chronic, debilitating inflammation in my neck and upper back for 7 years, which has caused severe degeneration in these areas at only 32 years old. Due to the degeneration, I've had multiple disc herniations, went temporarily paralyzed twice, and have needed 3 spinal fusion surgeries with 5 levels fused (C3-6, T11-12, and C6-7). I am also the product of childhood trauma and am the daughter of a mother with Bipolar, Borderline, and NPD, who I still have to live with due to my disease (relevancy further explained below). My first visit to Dr. Brisley consisted of a 2 hour consultation, followed by X-ray's and the actual treatment. She took extensive notes on my history, including sports played, injuries, and other traumas. Dr. Brisley walked me through every single part of my treatment, mapped out my history, surgeries, and problem areas (something no doctor has EVER done), and explained every-single-part of my case and treatment. She explained what she saw in my X-Rays relating to my atlas. She showed me the math she was doing, which blew my mind. She is extremely attentive, careful, and knowledgable on many different levels. After the adjustment, I immediately felt lighter. I have seen her about 4 times now, and have had more good pain days than ever before (since my problems are multifaceted, I am doing other treatments in combination with the atlas adjustment). Due to my spinal fusions, no other chiropractor will adjust my neck. Since this technique is non-forceful, she is actually able to treat me. In addition to the physical relief she has brought into my life, she has also been helping me heal on an emotional and spiritual level. She checks in with my emotional state before every adjustment and addresses all of my emotional and spiritual needs before proceeding to the machine. Her knowledge and experience when dealing with trauma is greater than any therapist I have ever been to. I'm a licensed massage therapist and have worked for 4 different chiropractic offices over the years, and have been treated by perhaps 10 different chiropractors in my lifetime, and never had I experienced chiropractic like this. AOC is the gentlest and most precise manipulation technique I've ever encountered, and it is also the most effective treatment I've ever experienced. I've had chronic pain throughout my life, and had resigned myself to a lifetime of discomfort, and thus focused on pain management via regular stretching/yoga, massage, and acupuncture treatments. This review update is long overdue, especially since I have successfully had two ridiculous trips without any back-lash of my prior symptoms. I went on a six week trip which included a 23 day cruise and 3 weeks staying in Brasil. In the past I've often struggled with sea sickness, as well as any repetitive movements were difficult for me handle since Oct 2009. I was able to handle the many boats we entered, the horrible driving of taxis/buses on land, and the long flights necessary for my return to Austin. Dr. Brisley assessed me upon my return, and my atlas had stayed in place! She then gave me the green light to mountain bike again as long as I adjusted my bike to alleviate strain on my neck area. I've also learned how to row in a skull, which is a fun and serene way to strengthen muscles. I am still so excited to see my active self returning! I recently took a 2 week trip to Cuba and we visited 7 cities during this time. Again, my bouncy transportation, horrible bed situation, and getting sick, gave my atlas a valiant test. And, once again, my atlas had held during my trip and is still in place. We moved to Austin from San Diego in the winter of 2013. Shortly thereafter I started experiencing horrible headaches, visual disturbances, and a feeling I could best describe as intoxication. When this first occurred, I went to the emergency room. They did a MRI and didn't find anything so they sent me home with the recommendation to see my primary care doctor and ophthalmologist. After seeing these physicians and receiving no diagnosis or treatment, I started doing research on the internet and that is how I found Dr. Brisley. During my initial appointment Dr. Brisley spent over an hour with me. What was most impressive was that she took the time to not only gather a complete medical history but she took an interest in what was going on personally as well. I appreciated how she was looking to treat "the whole person" rather than just my symptoms. After four treatment (less than two weeks) my symptoms, which I had suffered with for a month, were gone! Dr. Brisley has been helping me feel better and find relief for over a year. I wouldn't consider going anywhere else. Every time I have an adjustment, my sinuses start draining by the time I leave the parking lot, which is a real bonus. Unlike so many GPs, Dr Brisley doesn't treat symptoms, she treats the cause and gets to the bottom of the problem. The concept behind Atlas Orthogonal Chiropractic makes a lot of sense, but the methods that Austin Atlas uses to reel people in to pay hundreds of dollars was highly disappointing. The entire idea behind atlas is to analyze the alignment of the cervical spine using X ray and adjust individual vertebrae using a machine that applies pressure to areas that need adjusting. According to multiple Atlas Orthogonal resources online, accurate diagnosis of the spine requires x rays before and after treatment using the machine. Post x rays are necessary immediately after treatment to document the efficacy of the treatment. In summary, I paid Austin Atlas Orthogonal the initial $395 for consultation, pre-treatment x rays, and first treatment. Everything went smoothly until the visit was coming to an end and Post x rays were not conducted. I left the clinic and emailed the office asking about post x rays and the response was that I needed to pay an additional $205 for post x rays and a 30 min follow up just to see if the initial treatment was effective. Austin atlas's response was that post x rays were performed at their discretion and if I signed up for a prepaid package of $900 for 12 visits, then x rays be free. There was no doubt in my mind that this place was scamming me into paying almost $1000 just so that I can see if treatment works through x ray. I canceled any follow up appointment and then promptly received a "signed" letter in the mail terminating patient relationship. This only shows the pettiness and illegitimacy of a clinic who hides behind an obscure medical treatment to scam people of their money. If you are interested in Austin Atlas, I suggest visiting another clinic who is honest and transparent about costs. read more

I wish I could give Dr. Brisley a 10 star review. She is by far the best chiropractor I've ever seen! First off she is extremely intelligent and explains everything, so the patient can understand. She explains the theology of her practice and how it can effect the entire body. I gladly drive 2 1/2 hours to come see her. She has helped me more in the 4 visits I've seen her, then the last 8 years, that I've seen all my specialists combined. I had a severe head injury/concussion in 2013. I started having excruciating nerve pain in my head called occipital neuralgia. It was so debilitating that I couldn't work. Then in March of 2019 I was diagnosed with trigeminal neuralgia, which is known as the suicide disease, as it is the worst known pain to man. It felt like I was being electrocuted in my face constantly. It was so bad I couldn't talk, eat, drink or even walk some days. I have tried nerve blocks, medial branch blocks, trigger point injections, botox, dry needling, acupuncture, cranial sacral therapy, neuromuscular dentistry, over 25 different medications and physical therapy for 2 years 3 times a week. I also was seeing a chiropractor in San Antonio for 3 1/2 years, 3 times a week and never got out of pain. Dr. Brisley has been able to take away the excruciating electrical shocks in my face and has help my head pain immensely. She has done what 30 plus doctors couldn't do over a span of 8 years. I will be forever indebted to her, as I never thought I could live a normal life without excruciating pain 24/7. I have and will continue to recommend her to everyone. I've had neck pain for over 3 years now. Here's a summary of my long journey that eventually led me to Dr. Brisley. I was referred to a very prominent neck and spine surgeon who did an MRI and said he'd eventually need to do surgery on my neck for a deteriorating disc. I had no other symptoms except pain at the base of my skull and down the left side of my neck. He prescribed physical therapy which lasted about 6 months without any results. The physical therapists could get the pain to subside for about a day and then it would return. My primary care provider suggested I see a pain management doctor at North Austin Medical Center. The pain management doctor quickly scheduled me for a procedure to inject my the disc between C5 and C6 with a steroids. This also brought no relief. He then scheduled me for another procedure to temporarily freeze the nerves in my neck. I didn't feel like they were going down the right path so I canceled the appointment. I went to a chiropractor for a few months and also had not permanent relief. After several more months, I eventually went back to the spine and neck surgeon and he said it was time for surgery to replace my the disc in my neck. I kept telling him the pain was at the base of my skull and down the left side of my neck, not by C5 and C6. He was confident that replacing the disc would resolve the issue. I had been to one chiropractor years before; when she said she could cure cancer, I quit. I've had a stiff and sore right shoulder for ten years or so and stiff, sore neck most of my life. Accupuncture helped, but massage was the only thing that worked - but relief was temporary. Yoga has helped, but like massage, never for long. Looking back, I realize that I have had a low-grade but constant headache for years. While in theory, I believe chiropractors aren't quacks, until I met Dr. Brisley, I wasn't convinced. After the first adjustment, I knew something was different. My neck is better than it has ever been and my headache is gone. My shoulder is much better and improving. I have only been to one other chiropractor and it wasn't a very good experience. However, I read about Dr. Brisley and having lived with chronic pain and a debilitating neurological condition I decided to give Atlas a try. I've been in the health care field for over 30 years and know quite a bit about alternatives to mainstream medical but I'd never heard of Atlas before. Before my first appointment I read the other great reviews and looked at the website. Overall I was very impressed, hopeful, but also a bit skeptical. Dr. Brisley is extremely professional, compassionate, and willing to answer questions. Jennifer is also wonderful, and no one ever makes you feel like you are just a number or wasting their time. A very impressive office atmosphere, rather Zen like, relaxing and comfortable. Also there is no "hard sell" like you may have experienced elsewhere. Yes there are some supplements available, but unless you ask about them you won't be told you HAVE to have XYZ. I've been going now for about 6 weeks and I am so grateful that I found Dr. Brisley. I already feel so much better! The pain is about 70% better, I'm sleeping better, I have a bit more energy and overall I can't say enough positive things! My friends all ask what I've been doing because even they can see that I finally feel better. It's been so many years that I honestly forgot how good one could feel! Where do I start? 11 months ago I started having extreme pain in my face for no apparent reason. Since I started seeing Dr. Brisley mid July, I have a LIFE back. I was "injured" by a boyfriend that fell on me and elbowed me in the neck. I have been a patient of Dr. Brisley for the past month and wanted to share my story: Two and half years ago, I was taking my dog on a brisk walk in the park, when I noticed something in my neck "cracked." What happened next plagued me until I started seeing Dr. Brisley in January 2014. I started to have these strange nerve "pulses" throughout my body....VERY strange "thumping" sensations that felt very much like palpitations. They were made worse when I sat or laid in certain positions, or when I became emotionally heightened/upset. I went to multiple chiropractors, a leading Kineseologist, had my heart checked by MD's.....and simply was given no answers. They treated me like I had some alien disease. I literally spent THOUSANDS of dollars trying to find answers to this problem, been prescribed anti-inflammatory medications, bought an assortment of gizmos and devices to try to take away the sensations and muscle pain/tightness in my ribs....NOTHING worked. Dr. Jeanine Brisley is the absolute BEST! I had an annoying neck pain for years... I didn't know what to do about it, went to several chiropractors, acupuncturists, massage salons, etc. - nothing helped.
