My pain required me to take opioid pain medication a few times per month in order to function properly. After consulting with Dr. Dumitrescu, he created a custom plan with the intention of stopping my pain at the source instead of treating with medication. We completed the plan last week and it's been over three months since I've had to take any pain meds. This is the longest I've gone without the need for meds in over ten years. What sets Dr. Dumitrescu apart from the other places is his dedication to looking at all aspects of healing the body. We started with a few minor outpatient procedures combined with physical therapy, supplements, and hormone medication. We have now moved into a strength building program in order to help prevent future back injuries or issues. I could not be more delighted with the results and being pain-free. I have been dealing with chronic pain for decades. When I'm in the waiting room and I hear them ask a patient about their pain level and I hear the patient say, "oh I am at 10!" I see someone standing unassisted, not sweating and talking coherently. This is not a 10! The current team is great. However, years ago, I too had problems with the front desk. It is rock-solid there now, it's a pleasure to work with them. They are absolutely part of the solution and not the problem! Doc runs a tight ship, my improved condition is directly related to the care I get here. As an aside, I have been dealing with a circulatory issue (plantar edema) for several years. After seeing a couple of doctors, with the only solution being compression and elevation I was frustrated. Working with the blood side of the practice, it turns out I have an endocrine issue! Taylor Lackey is professional, knowledgeable, and very well manages his time. Most of my visits, I have be able to see him in just 5 minutes. Only one time that I needed to wait about half an hour. Overall never a very long wait. Dr. Lackey well planed and it really helped saving patients' time. When he knew the reasons of my visit, he ordered me for an x-ray in prior to see him, and he told me that I could call to get an MRI order without the need to go to his office again. I have seen Dr. Lackey for my tennis and golf elbows, my dislocated tendon at my pinky finger, and lately a lump at my inner elbow. He is very attentive and provided me with the necessary physical therapy and medication. Claudia, Dr. Lackey's Medical Assistant, has been very kind, considerate, and attentive. She has tried her best to coordinate the doctor's orders and the x-ray unit in order to make it as fast and effective as possible. She has gone over everything slowly to make sure I understand everything right. Maybe the clinic has been too busy lately causing me a hard time reaching her. I left 2 voice messages and have been waiting over 48 hours, but never got a call back. I needed to leave the 3rd message before getting a call back causing me almost unable to get my MRI scheduled before my long trip. The front desk ladies or the scheduling ladies are very nice, always very helpful and are excellent at their jobs! When she knew I couldn't get a schedule at Austin Sports Medicine Lab, she recommended me 3 other labs in Austin and the near by areas and fax out my MRI order to all other labs right away. Finally, I could get my MRI scheduled on the last day before my traveling. I have experienced some difficulty at the x-ray unit inside Austin Sports Medicine. I have had conditions at both of my arms, but the x-ray technologist did the x-ray only one of my arms. I told him right away, but he refused to check even if I asked him politely and more than one time. When Claudia found out, she talked to the technologist and asked him to do the x-ray again for my another arm. Instead of fixing the mistake and having me next in line, he seemed upset and put me the last in line! And this time I waited over 30-40 minutes and still couldn't get an x-ray. Ended up Claudia told me that Dr. Lackey would pull my old x-ray for my another arm, so I didn't need to wait longer. I just wish the technologist was cared to listen to patients and spent a little time double check things. It could help prevent the mistakes from happening and save a large a mount of time for both patients and himself. In Sum: I highly recommend Austin Sports Medicine and Dr J. Taylor Lackey!

Not very impressed with this office at all…read more First - There is zero parking available. (The worst I've ever seen at a doctor's office). People were circling, and alot were parked illegally, even in the grass. I was forced to park next door at all the retail shops, even though there were a ton of signs saying they'd tow. Not really a great first impression. Second - My appointment with Dr. Meghpara felt very rushed, and was not near as thorough as other doctor's I've seen (and what I would require to consider it a worthwhile visit). It was my fault for not getting x-rays from another doctor over in time before my appointment (the office didn't remind me to bring any, and I honestly just didn't think about it until a few days before). I did bring my MRI images and report, and he basically said he had no use for those. I asked if we should take another X-ray at the office, so that he could see my current state, and he basically said it wasn't necessary. He also had me do only a few movements in the office (totaling about 10 seconds) to test out my pain, whereas two other doctors had alot more comprehensive exam. He then proceeded to give me his opinion without examining any x-rays or (from what it seemed) the MRI CDs I had brought in. He just went off of what I told him my situation was, what my last doctor had said (a few weeks before), and basically agreed with that assessment. At this point I was just ready to leave, as I was already disappointed and knew that he is not a doctor I would return to. I wish I would've just avoided going there for another opinion, and wasting $80.

The first go round the PA was very arrogant and dismissive. Now a new problem and I did not want to go back, but since I was an established patient, I could get in quickly. The new NP spent no time with me, the whole visit was very rushed. She was quick to give an injection, not explaining anything, not offering any insight. If I asked a question, she would answer in a little time as possible. Not giving me any time to think. I will not go back and have found another Dr outside of Tx Ortho. After going back and forth with his primary and not getting anywhere we sought out the assistance of Dr. Rafii. Dr. Rafii cared, listened and tried to get things figured out with my husband. After a few visits with Dr. Rafii and no real sense of relief for my husband Dr. Rafii did something he said he's never done and ordered a brain MRI...where they found 13 tumors on my husband brain. With the evidence in hand as horrible as it was we had an answer. We later found out that my husband had small cell lung cancer that had metastasized to his brain and he passed just a year later. If it wasn't for Dr. Rafii I don't think we would have even had that year. I am forever grateful for Dr. Rafii and his team for their compassion and care. May God be with you all.

I hardly ever write reviews... but this one is long overdue…read more I had been seeing Dr. Raffi for about a year, and due to personal reasons I had to switch Dr's for maintenance of flair ups. I'm starting an intensive physical therapy program and hoping I won't need maintenance for too much longer. That being said, I am grateful for the time I had with Dr. Rafii. Dealing with a chronic pain condition can be stressful for the Dr. and patient both. But navigating those waters of trial and error didn't seem bad at all with him. It felt more like a team collaboration. Even when times were easy to give up and refer me out...he didn't. It was actually that exact act of kindness that made me want to explore outside of the box of just traditional pain meds. I felt like I had a cheerleader as cheesy as that sounds. Took me months in rehab to get back to as normal as I could. I should have skipped the surgery and just gone to rehab. Then I got a letter saying he was moving to Ascension Medical Group, Seton Neurosurgery Southwest at 7900 Ranch to Market Road 1826 suite 203. There was a phone number and an email in the letter and I had a limited amount of time to request copies of my records. I sent an email the first time - no response. Then I called and got a guy who told me the girl was out but he would leave a message for her to call. Never could get a response from them so I wrote a letter to the Ascension Seton Office he has listed on his webpage. I also copied in the main office at Ascension Seton. They told me he was not with them. I had also mailed a letter requesting my records to him at that address and it came back as Vacated-moved. He must be trying to hide from someone. If he has started practice somewhere else you should avoid him at all costs.

My insurance as of today cannot see any amount that I have ever owed, yet I received a call from a debt collector. I was told by her office during the first call that they have dozens of invoices with the same issue that they're trying to resolve. This call was in January! Think about the lack of attention to detail this SURGEON must have if she can't even make sure her billing is accurate. I have contacted the Texas Health ombudsman's office and can assume that they will help them with their administrative issues.
