This school is extremely disappointing. There is a clear disparity in how boys and girls are treated, with boys receiving noticeably worse treatment. My son was falsely accused of something he did not do, which demonstrates serious issues in how students are disciplined. The meals are consistently poor and barely edible. My daughter even suffered food poisoning from the lunches. On top of that, students have very little time to eat. According to my son, by the time they sit down, there is only about 5-10 minutes left to finish their meals. Recess and breaks are practically nonexistent. My 11-year-old son reported having only a 10-minute recess once a week, which is insufficient. My daughter in middle school stated that she gets virtually no break time at all--just a few minutes at most. In conclusion, this school fails on multiple levels: student treatment, nutrition, and daily schedule. I cannot recommend it. If the school truly wanted to improve, they would need to address all of these issues. read more

If I could give this place zero stars I would! The secretary is ignorant any time I have ever called. We supposedly live too close to the school for a bus, but don't always have crossing guards or make sure sidewalks are shoveled during winter months. My son has had a crappy education since he started in kindergarten, and every teacher we've encountered has passed the buck saying that the teacher before him didn't get him where he was supposed to be...but when asked if there was anything I should be doing at home I was told to stick my kid in front of a computer to memorize the questions for the tests he needs to pass in order to move up to the next grade level. My second grader rarely ever does anything physical, they usually have movies or pep rallies during his gym period, or they're allowed to play on computers during recess time, which leads to a very distracted child! I could go on and on about the lack of organization or attention to detail when it comes to the parking lots, or the class sizes and not being able to be more attentive to the students that need just a bit more help, and if I wasn't made to feel stupid any time I have a question, I'd love to get my son involved in the tutoring program. Although I don't know what good it would do with the K-2 building in a state of emergency. Please do yourself a favor and enroll your kids into a private school if you can, I will be homeschooling mine next year, and I honestly wish I would have done it sooner. read more

The school district complains about cost and everything else a school district can complain about. However, they ask parents to be active in their own child's well being. With that said why do every school counselor in this district always have an excuse on why they don't call a parent back or do what they say and it's fine. But don't you as the parent have an excuse as you will be executed! If the counselors are too overwhelmed to handle the children effectively than hire more cut elsewhere like administration levels on stupid wasted jobs! Our children are more important than having another administrator do nothing and get paid 70,000 plus benefits!! Lets go Austintown get a clue!! If I hear one more teacher, counselor, principal, superintendent from this district tell me things are crazy there and they are so busy to take 5 minutes out of their day to call a concerned parent back. Than they DO NOT deserve my tax dollars to one of my employees! Lets go Austintown stop worrying about your own agendas and start worrying about our Children and do the job you are paid well for!!! read more

This school thinks it is so great, the last 3 weeks of school has no air conditioning and is 80 degrees in the building. The bathrooms are in horrible condition, in 1 bathroom there are only 3 stalls out of 8 that have doors, and 2 of them have a huge gap between the door so anyone can see you. This school has been so awful. The teachers tear the children's confidence down and they get away with it. Even small mistakes children are seen as incompetent, irresponsible, and dumb. When they don't pick up on something they're lectured on not understanding it after it being repeated. Even though, it doesn't matter if it's repeated, if it's hard to understand. Math moves too fast along with science. Science doesn't give a good explanation with needed time. Language arts doesn't teach much of anything and the tasks you do in there are useless to the actual learning. Social studies gives out the wrong information that's not on the tests. The problem isn't just the teachers or the classes. The Principals also are clueless in matters. They claim that the kids should be more mature, yet they're not even allowed to choose where they sit at lunch because the teachers can't take it. An entire grade all together at the same time after hours and hours, and expected not to talk. They also blame the trash/food on the floor of the cafe on the kids, and they are told to clean or pick it up. They often talk about the cleaning staff having to do so much work. Yet that's their jobs, to CLEAN. The principals and teachers don't know how to handle kids or problems. There are plenty more ridiculous things to talk about, but that's for another time. read more

It is one of the best and worst schools out there. Alright if we are giving an honest review I would I have to state why it is a HORRIBLE school. Well to start it off the teachers could care less about helping their students learn and just wanna get it over with and complain a lot, the amount they complain and yell at kids are making kids stressed out to the point where they are weeping for hours because they don't wanna go back because of the preassure put on them. Some kids actually fall into depression from school too, also the gym teachers are always even worse when comes to stress and giving kids a hard time and it's horrible for the "less active kids" but if we are talking about the education system then I would say it is okay but have more useless stuff then things that will help in day to day life! The only good or kinda good thing is that there is not as much bullying but there are kids falling into inappropriate things, like sharing "inappropriate" videos of two students, which even if they were to do the task at all they shouldn't have been recording. As for the buses, the kids on the buses are very obnoxious and rude sometimes but the schools bus drivers some are wreckless and speed or break some laws. The homework isn't bad but in certain classes is unfair because it is unable to do for students with no WiFi. The principals are rude and are unhelping to students and are bad at their jobs. They have a countdown from 5 and there is a punishment if students aren't quiet in that time but the teachers count incorrectly and speaking of that at lunch they are always blaming students for trash on the grounds but most is already there before they even get in and have an unfair level of what they think loud is.
