Not only were the class rooms and lecture halls adequate to study and learn in, but The Hub is the main student advice centre, The Caf is a buzzing place to have lunch and our mid-morning coffee break was spent in the cool recesses of The Vault, an espresso bar by day, drinking bar by night. It also has a gallery, a library, a fitness centre and that's only the stuff on campus - it's right next to the State Library, it's a short walk from the Queen Vic Market and you can get anywhere using the buses, tram and train service. The facilities here are first class, with large study areas and rooms that are kept clean and looking new. No carvings on the desk or gum under the tables here. The McPherson building is quite noticeably a place for serious students, the study halls are always quite and the students are actually studying-rather than checking their Facebook. The average age of people I see walking around are in their late 20s-30s.

Union House is alright. If you're a new student, I wouldn't get too hyped up for it. Yes, I too…read morehave seen those University of Melbourne campus commercials where they talk about how lovely and fancy Union House is. It's really more a place to go in between classes than a center of student life here (which is pretty much what it's advertised as). Some restaurants are okay, others aren't. Sometimes they'll hold events just outside, but nothing too exciting. My events in high school were better, to be honest. It's crowded and cramped, which makes studying a big no-no. Overall, I would say that the Union House is a great security blanket for first-years if they have no idea where to go or what to do. But after a bit more experience in Melbourne Uni you'll soon see it as just another passing commodity instead of what it's hyped up to be.

They seem to have a good working environment with positive staff and quality facilities. In the productions I've been involved in they have all been top notch in organization as well as all being good people with vast creative skills. Hopefully this institution can grow further where I'm hoping to get involved with more of their independent projects as they're very professional and are obviously teaching their students well. I think if you're into Media and Arts than this is a great place to learn and perhaps kick-start a career!
