I found this spot thru yelp. My car had some air conditioner issues which i brought it to get a diagnostic done. This place has minimal parking in the front but was not an issue. I was greeted upon entering the office. Told them I had an appointment that morning at 9:30 am to drop off my car, the woman in the front checked their system, informed me of the diagnostic fee. Best to call or make an appointment online to drop off your car. The only reason I did not rate 5 star was because I wasn't notify that they were not able to check my car and would be left overnight. In which I had to call the next morning to get an update. I do like the fact that they would call and send out a text message regarding the diagnostic and details of the issues with prices and the estimated fee. In which I was able to approve the repairs online. Also, their communication was great as they would contact me if their was an issue etc. The services were quicker than expected. Summary: [Poor communication] [Missed basic battery drain cause] [Week-long vehicle hold with no answer] [Failed diagnostic tests] Details: I took in my 2021 Ford Mustang to Auto Tech Service & Repair because my battery kept dying. I asked for a diagnostic test and specifically told the receptionist to make sure the technician ran the test with my dash cam and iPhone chargers unplugged (I had some suspicions) -- which is super basic common sense when diagnosing a parasitic battery drain on a car battery. Auto Tech kept my car for 7 days and ultimately told me they couldn't find the issue and that it was likely an electrical problem. They said I should take it to Ford to have a better chance of diagnosing why my battery kept dying. I assumed it must be such a specific issue that only Ford would know, since they held my car for a week and supposedly tried "everything." When I took the car to Ford Elk Grove and paid their $250 diagnostic fee, they identified the problem in a day: my hard-wired dash cam was draining the battery. The Ford service team was actually extremely surprised and embarrassed that this hadn't been caught by an auto technician from Auto Tech Service & Repair. When I called Auto Tech to ask why they missed it, I was told the technician never ran the drain test with the dash cam disconnected. Even if I hadn't mentioned checking the dash cam and chargers (which I did over the phone, though they claim I did not), inspecting any plugged-in electronics is a very basic step when diagnosing a battery drain. - ALSO, I understand that people can make mistakes, but overlooking something this fundamental during a drain test is concerning. I'm sharing this feedback in the hope that the owner and technicians take it as a learning opportunity and make sure that battery drain diagnostics are performed the way other shops do it. Room for improvement: Communication was also extremely poor. Updates were silent throughout the day, and most of the time I had to call them myself to find out what was going on with my car. If your shop says "I will check with the technicians and call you back" please call back... Overall, I appreciate that they didn't charge me, but the lack of thorough diagnostics from an auto tech shop and the poor communication ended up costing me far more in time, week long car rental fees, and a second diagnostic at an expensive dealer. read more

Made an appointment here in an effort to get my car to pass its SMOG test. The office was surprisingly busy for a Monday morning! A steady stream of customers and the office people efficiently checking them in and out. Ultimately, they told me nothing was wrong and all the tech really did was drive it around a bit to get some monitor back in working order. If you're looking for a perfect mechanic, it's going to be pretty challenging. One of their mechanics made a small mistake that cost me my engine. In return, they gave me a brand-new engine, free of charge. My car is a four-wheel drive and incredibly hard to install a new engine in. I was referred to Auto Tech Services by a different repair facility because my truck required specialized services to replace a warped manifold and three broken manifold bolts, in addition to the original problem of two manifold seals that needed replacement. The Dodge dealership previously replaced both manifold seals at a cost of over $2,200. Auto Tech Services replaced both seals, drilled out and replaced three broken manifold bolts, and replaced the warped manifold for less than half the price of what Dodge charged for fewer services. Not only was the work performed by Auto Tech, exceptionally professional, but they kept me informed of the progress of the repairs via text message and performed the service within a couple of days. I could not be more happy with Auto Tech Services and will now use them exclusively for all repairs to our personal and work vehicles. I needed a new shop that did smog tests and the repair work I don't want to do. The place I used for 15 years recently changed ownership and it is up in East Sac anyway. This is the closest auto repair shop to my house and after reading the reviews here on Yelp I knew this was my new place to take my cars. John was very friendly and took my car right in the shop. Normally I don't like to leave negative reviews, but I'm frankly astounded at the disrespectful service I received here. I called on Thursday of last week and explained my car's issues with the transmission. The owner quickly assured me that he could take care of it - that he had multiple of the same cars come in since last week - and he booked me for a Tuesday appt. I had my car towed in when the shop opened Tuesday and never heard from the shop. I called an hour before closing for an update and left a vm. I am super sick with the flu so my medicine made me fall asleep. I woke up to a missed call and a text that simply read "car has no gas, can't do diagnostic". That is a flat out lie because my car had gas in it before towing it in. He said the light is on so he refuses to run a diagnostic. He never called to notify me the gas wasn't at the level he desired where I could've somehow arranged someone to help me bring a gas tank. When I expressed that the following morning to him he kept cutting me off and yelling over me. I told him I no longer wanted him to work on my car and that I'd have it towed out again the same day. He told me that he was putting my car on the street. When I got a ride to the shop to approve the tow, there were literally 3 gas stations within walking distance from the shop. It seems strange to me it wasn't mentioned or offered for me to put a card on file so they could charge me for gas they needed to fill. It's a service center, they must have gas tanks they can use for situations like this. On top of that, my car reflected 56 miles, plenty for a diagnostic where if he drove my car for 5 minutes down the street he would see the issue I presented. The texts I received said "vehicle is out of gas, unable to perform test". 56 miles is not out of gas Ultimately, I was able to take my car into a new shop same day I towed it out. The new shop had 1/3 of the cost for diagnostic that Tech Repair quotes and was able to work on my car same day. I drove out next day. The diagnostic fee also went towards repair fees - it does not do that at Tech Repair If you're considering this shop, look elsewhere. Not worth your time, money, or respect ***the reply to this comment from the owner is also a lie, my check engine light was never on and he never offered to put gas in the car. Wow. #surpriseandelight. I found these folks on yelp. They were near my work and had not only high yelp reviews but elite reviews and enough that i had a pretty good idea it was a solid business. I called up for a quick quote on a mirror (someone had hit my car) Quote seemed fair so i asked them to do some other work. I dropped my car off and they not only did the extra work i asked for (door regulator) but were also able to complete an oil and transmission change for me in a quick bit of time. the folks were professional and timely. Plus it looked like this wasn't some random chain, but a local business which i would prefer supporting. Everything working great and I'm stoked on how easy they made it. Honestly, I hardly ever leave reviews nowadays. I'm past the phase of trying to become an Elite Yelp reviewer. But the service and repair that these guys do is above and beyond, really. I neglected to do regular maintenance on my car and came to John and Harry. They've been doing service for my parents for roughly 10+ years now and we've always had spectacular work done. My check engine light came on and I finally took it in, they were able to do everything needed and some extra. The next day, I decided to take my car in for a quick look-see since my oil light lit up the same day I got my car back. My brake and steering wheel seized up as I was on my way and got stranded in a public parking area. I called John and he immediately sent one of his workers to check out the car. The guy had to call a tow to bring it to the shop and gave me a lift back home. John sent me a text and said I had a faulty oil filter and took care of it free of charge. I'm aware there are bad reviews, but the good outweighs them all. These guys do honest work for prices that are definitely affordable and competitive. And they go the extra mile needed. I'm just really thankful right now since they get a lot of flack. Great job, y'all. Tips: 1) Arrive as early as you can. Sometimes, other customers needs are a little time-consuming and they might not be able to get to your car in the allotted time. 2) Be specific with what you need fixed. They will go the extra mile to take care of you, but some things can slip by. If it does, give them a call and let them know and they'll do their best to meet your needs. 3) Smile. I meant to write this review a month ago. I came in on a Saturday with the intention to change my front brakes. I knew they were worn and needing to be replaced because each time I stepped on the brakes, they were squeaking loudly which is never a good sign. No appointment necessary and I didn't have one but I came in 30 mins after they opened. There was one other person waiting in their lobby. They also had a bunch of other cars they were working on as well. I decided to come to Auto Tech Service & Repair because they were highly recommended to me by my previous boss and family friends. They always told me to come here if I needed anything for my car because they take care of the customer. They purchase & install high quality parts and charge you a reasonable price. For reference, I drive a 2016 Acura ILX. I used to drive a '95 Toyota Camry for over 15+ years and I know how to take care of my car since I had to maintenance my old car a lot. The service is friendly and they are always busy. Given the reviews on yelp and in person by multiple people I know, I came out highly satisfied. They live up to those high praises. I was told that this is a father/son business by family friends & previous manager. The person who checked me in was Harry (father). He looked at my brakes and saw that they were worn. He took down my info using the car's registration which they said it's because it's easier to keep track in their system. That way, next time if I were to come in, my car's info would all be there and the process will be faster. Harry was so fun to talk to and he was honest & upfront with me even though I'm female. Harry did ask me why I chose their business, and perhaps because my car is still fairly new(ish). I told him the reason why. They are busy for a reason and they know their cars. They really do take care of the customer and why they have many loyal customers. My brakes no longer squeak and I am a happy customer. Can't express how amazing this place is. They are privately owned and I believe has been in their family for a long time. The first time I ever brought my car here was a few years ago and from the start I felt heard, not taken advantage of (as a female it happens a lot with auto shops and mechanics) and it was so welcoming. I got to hear about his family and where he was from, I can't remember his name but he wasn't the only one who was so nice. Everyone is undeniably kind, respectful and professional. They truly never make anyone feel like getting their car serviced is an inconvenience to them. They don't mind doing their jobs and that's rare these days. These guys restore faith in mechanics since unfortunately it's really common for a lot of them to be shady. First time I brought it in for regular maintenance like an oil change and was so shocked when they told me my final price, it was so affordable and reasonable. I told him that I had to take my car to a jiffy lube (during the pandemic) because for some reason I couldn't get through to auto tech and jiffy lube ended up damaging my oil pan severely, the guy came out to tell openly admit to me that the loud sound was them dropping it a few feet off the ground and his boss ran out and said to me that his employee was mistaken and it was already damaged. Not to mention they wouldn't honor a coupon I had and they charged me $250 for an oil change (I have a VW Jetta.) to go from that bad experience to auto tech was a drastic change for the better. I told him about my experience with jiffy lube and he was shocked but he said something that has stuck with me for years. He said "we aren't in the business to overcharge people, we are a family and we want our customers to feel like family so if they offer affordable and professional services they know it will keep their customers long term for life instead of those other places overcharging and the customer never goes back." I've gone to auto tech a few times since then and no matter what their quotes and final cost is always way more reasonable than any place else and I never have to worry about getting hackled or played. They don't add on unnecessary services or costs and in fact they always do things to help out any way they can. I had brought my car into them a few months ago as in a few months time it began making some gnarly sounds and I thought for sure my car was crapping out on me or it would be thousands to fix. I dropped my car off on a Friday mid day (single mom at the time with no one to help me get my son to and from school and we live 30 mins from his school and his dad (my ex) was in rehab) so I didn't want to worry and ended up renting a car for the week and by the end of that day Friday they called me back and said my car was all done and it was my breaks! They didn't know at first what it would be and if they needed to order parts so originally we thought it would at least be a few days but nope they got it handled and done! I ended up keeping it there for the week and even asked if they could check my AC and fluid pump and they had no trouble doing that. They really saved my butt again and once again the price was so reasonable. I am a life long customer no matter where I live I will always make the drive to go to them. If you want reliable, welcoming, respectful and professional car services you NEED to give auto tech services and repair a try. I guarantee you will be a life long customer. Any chance you get show your appreciation to this family owned company. They are the epitome of great customer service. Thank you auto tech for all you do for me and others. Actually now that I think about it and taking into consideration the reply from the business owner, they did do a decent job.

First off, it was really hard for me to bring in my beloved mazda to an auto repair shop. I wanted my mechanic boyfriend to do it but that involved a lot of coordination with him which frankly I had no patience nor time to spare; we just have way too much going on the last month before we have to roadtrip to San Diego. It made more sense to get it done at a shop. I was once upon a time a first time manual driver and my car had taken enough beating from me, so it decided it was time for the clutch to meet it's demise. One day it just decided to not shift in to any gears at all. Bf said I've been a crappy manual driver the past few year which I won't deny. This place was one of the few places I called in the immediate area that had appointment availability within the time frame I needed and even allowed for me to bring in my own OEM clutch kit to have replaced on my car. This was a plus for me because if they could do the labor I would be grateful enough. Some other places quoted me like it was going to take a week, but in reality it's a 8-10 hour job. John gave a fair and reasonable estimated price on labor and I went ahead and brought in my Mazda. I asked if he could take pictures of the clutch for me, and he said he'd actually save it for me! I dropped it off Tues Morning, and got it back Wed right when they closed. He let me know that my brakes would need to be taken care of soon since it was a little soft, but I'm just pretty excited to have my mazda back up and running! Sadly, I forgot to remind him about the clutch and wasn't able to see how destroyed it was but not a big deal. All in all, it was a smooth transaction, great communication, and I would definitely be a returning customer. I would recommend this place! Please be considerate and understand that auto repair shops can get busy and that an appt may be crucial for them to diagnose your car. John is such a sincere and friendly guy! This is my go to spot for any issues dealing with my vehicle- minor or major issues. So my car that I recently bought has some double sided tape scuffs leftover from previous owners and I ordered a rubber eraser pad. You have to hook it onto a drill bit and connect it to your power drill and rub off the adhesive on the car. Long story short, my power drill is Nowhere to be found and my wife hasn't seen it either. Feeling very discouraged I just thought maybe I can come into Autotech and borrow a power drill for a bit. Not only did John let me borrow a power drill but he performed the whole procedure for me. I took my Audi A6 in to diagnose an oil leak and to perform routine services. Prior to Auto Tech all services, maintenance, and repairs were performed solely by Elk Grove Audi for the duration of my cars life. I could not get an appointment with Audi's service department immediately and did not want to risk driving my car potentially causing damage after discovering the oil leak. I was referred by friends and family to Auto Tech since this was an unexpected problem that needed to be addressed immediately. Auto Tech was able to get me an appointment the following day after calling them and assured me they possessed the qualifications, knowledge, and experience to work on my car. After 2 days and a thorough inspection, Auto Tech was able to diagnose the oil leak and another problem my car had which I failed to notice myself. A full diagnosis of the problems, repairs, and cost was provided to me by Auto Tech via their user friendly website. Auto Tech Service Advisor Phillip Tran gave me a call and explained in detail the diagnosis and additional issues they found which gave me the honesty, integrity, and professionalism I was looking for. After approval of the repairs and cost, my car was repaired and ready for pickup after 7 days. I specifically requested OEM parts only be used for my cars repairs which understandably caused a longer repair time. Throughout the days of repair, they answered my calls and gave me progress updates and a tentative date of completion. My car is now back to full performance and drives like new again. I am glad I found a reliable and honest shop that cared for my car as much as I do. The worst customer service I have ever experienced in my life. We brought our vehicle in for AC repair 4 weeks ago and were told the part was back ordered 1-3 weeks. Monday last week would have been the third week so we called wondering what's going on and we were told that the guy that can help us with out ? Wasn't available and would be back later. We called later and were told he wouldn't be in that day. We called the next day and still no one available to answer when the part is coming or how much longer, called again Wednesday still nothing. I called today and get yelled at and hung up on and interrupted so many times that I answered his ? 4 times but he didn't hear the answer because he kept talking over me. I will be requesting a full refund and following up with the bureau of automotive repair. Don't take your vehicle here unless you enjoy being treated like shit. I didn't curse until the third attempt to call you without being yelled at. Anyone would curse if they can't ask a question without someone who's supposed to deal with customer service yelling at them each time. You also repeatedly interrupted me over and over, it was the most infuriated conversation I've ever had with someone that should be professional. read more

I had a wheel bearing issue back in September 2020 and had it replaced here for a reasonable price on my Honda Accord. Unfortuantely, the issue came back up on May 2021. Although the wheel bearing issue should have been fixed correctly the first time around, things happen. John and crew fixed the issue again for free thanks to their warranty. Not only did they fix it for free, they also included an oil change without even saying anything. It was a pleasure seeing my oil at 100% on the drive home.
