The room is spacious and comfortable. The hotel is centrally located. Matjaz (Matthias) has been incredibly helpful from the moment we entered the hotel looking for parking. He has helped us find two great walking trails, directed us to restaurants, bakeries and places to have drinks and has been extremely friendly. What a great person to have at the front desk- one of the nicest, friendliest, helpful people we have met in our 21 different visits to Europe! ( my wife just informed me he is the 7 th generation innkeeper). We will be recommending this hotel to our friends and son that live in Zurich.

They do not have English menus so make sure you read German or have a translator like google. We ordered the fish and chips and the pork snitzel. Both were very good. They have a decent wine menu but we opted for the wheat beer, which was very good as well. The lake view with the castle on the hill was awesome. It is a little pricey but I would eat here again.

I can't compare it to the other restaurants in the area, but it's absolutely gorgeous up here. If you're driving up in a single lane with traffic both ways, you're going the right way. Parking is available about a 5 minute walk below the restaurant. Depending on the direction of the wind, you will smell the stinky pig farm on your uphill walk. The food and price is decent compare to prices out in Switzerland (approx 25 CHF/person). The outdoor seating is quite popular and it's the place to be on sunny day! It's kid friendly with a play pen on the side and it really doesn't get any better than here; imagine, beautifully rolling green hills with a beer in your hand. If you're in the area, do yourself a favor and get to Hoher Hirschberg! You won't regret it! No English menu available, but the menu is simple enough to navigate through. PS CASH ONLY
