He actually gave me an estimate over the phone, which my old mechanic said I needed to bring my car in and leave it over night before they could give me and estimate. (RED FLAG) I took it up to Anna to Ricky's and it was well worth the extra miles from the old place I used to take my car. He assessed the issues, gave me an estimate and was finished with the job in 1.5 hours. The engine light was off, but I needed to drive it for 50 miles at least to reset the computer so I took a drive to Sherman got some gas and meandered back through the country roads to Ricky's with just a little over 50 miles. He scanned my car again and it wasn't quite reset and suggested I drive another 20 miles. I took it down to Melissa, then out on 75 to Van Alstyne then back onto the country roads and it still wasn't completely reset so since it was almost closing time he said just drive it some more then bring it back if you like before having the emissions test done. I will be taking it back up to see him next week as I have not been out much this past week. But I cannot say enough about how personable, kind, efficient, he and his staff are and the place is immaculate clean. And they even have a little humor on the bathroom wall that made me chuckle. I know that honest mechanic can be an oxymoron these days but Ricky is the paragon of integrity, honesty, reliability, intelligence, ethical, and respectable. I highly recommend you make the extra trip to Anna if you need a reasonable, honest, skillful mechanic.

I had brought it to the dealership, who recommended over $2k in repairs to fix this vibration. They had a long list of "causes". Then I had Allen work on it today. He diagnosed the problem (which was not on the various "fixes" the dealer had suggested), and the repair was around $500. I'll take him over the dealer any day... Allen is a Master Technician, in other words, he is at the top of the food chain in terms of skill & knowledge. But the best part? He's honest! There were several things he found on my vehicle that he could have tried to "up-sell" me on, but he said "if it were my vehicle, I wouldn't do it. It can wait." I have had Allen do several repairs on both of my vehicles. I really like it when a mechanic is *thorough* but does not try to sell me on something I don't need. The convenience of him coming to you instead of having to go to a car shop is of course a nice bonus. His large truck is full of everything a mechanic needs to work on a vehicle. Knowledge? In each of those cases they seemed to never really fix the car totally. Within a few weeks of getting it back on the road, more problems would pop up. I felt like I was just a cash cow to these places, forking over money left and right. Westdyke's isolated the problem and charged me a fraction of what the other places would. Think it was around $150 for everything. It's been about a year and have had no more problems with it. Also took in a Ford F150 that needed some plugs and coils and they did great on that one too. The only drawback is they are kind of old school country folks and not as speedy getting you in and out as some of the big shops. I'm still giving them 5 stars for the quality work they do. If that takes a day or two longer, then in my book, so be it!

My friend kept trying to get a better understanding of what the ideal problem was and he kept repeating and starting saying that he was cutting her off that to not come back there no more which we will not be. I was told to go here for an alignment on my car. HERE IS WHERE THE ISSUE STARTED. He sat down and informed me that multiple things needed to be done on my car, and they needed to be done before I could get my alignment, including a NEW CV AXLE which I had just gotten done a month beforehand. If I would have never gotten my CV axles replaced before going in, I wouldn't have known they were trying to rip me off. I told the worker that I had just gotten my CV axles replaced, and he first questioned me on whether they were my CV axles that actually got replaced. Then, when I showed him my receipt, he went out to talk to the mechanic, and then CLAIMED THAT THEY DIDNT NEED TO BE REPLACED, and there was just oil on them, that's why he thought they needed to be replaced. A grown man, came and tried charging a 17 YEAR OLD WOMAN $500 DOLLARS TO REPLACE SOMETHING I HAD GOTTEN REPLACED THE MONTH BEFORE, and then goes to tell me he made a mistake, and it didn't need to be replaced. Enough said, the moral of the story is to either get a second opinion, or don't go to brakes plus.
