Our experience with a recently purchased 2026 BMW X5 Plug-In from Autos Germana has been extremely disappointing, frustrating, and deeply concerning.
We acquired this vehicle approximately five months ago. The SUV currently has barely 1,500 miles. DeTwo days ago, while returning from Arecibo ddto Aguadilla on PR-2, the vehicle suddenly shut down completely in the middle of the highway without any meaningful warning signs beforehand.
Just moments before the failure, we noticed only a slight hesitation from the vehicle. Immediately afterward, multiple warning messages appeared:
* "Drivetrain Malfunction"
* "Do Not Continue Driving"
* "Contact Roadside Assistance"
The situation quickly became extremely dangerous.
The vehicle became completely immobilized on PR-2 near a traffic light while cars continued traveling at high speed only feet away from us. We had no choice but to exit the vehicle and walk toward the emergency lane while traffic continuedk moving around us. Honestly, the situation could easily have ended in tragedy.
Even worse:
* The SOS emergency system did not respond.
* We could not easily locate useful roadside assistance information inside the vehicle.
* We had to pay $160 out of pocket for a private tow truck to move the vehicle safely back to our residence in Aguadilla.
The following day, when we contacted the BMW service center at Autos Germana, one employee even suggested that certain details about the incident should not be discussed with the tow truck driver. That interaction left us with a very negative impression regarding transparency and customer handling.
The vehicle was later picked up, and we were informed that it would remain st least five working days under diagnosis and repair. A courtesy unit was not provided. For a practically brand-new luxury SUV, this is unacceptable.
As recent customers of both BMW and MINI vehicles purchased from Autos Germana, we are extremely frustrated and disappointed.
People purchase BMW vehicles expecting premium engineering, safety, reliability, and cutting-edge technology. Unfortunately, our real-world experience was the complete opposite:
an expensive SUV that suddenly shuts down while driving and leaves its occupants exposed in an extremely dangerous roadway situation.
At this point, our confidence in this vehicle has been completely lost.
On a satisfaction scale from 1 to 5, our rating for both the vehicle and the service experience so far is a 1:
extremely poor and practically nonexistent.
Our honest recommendation to anyone considering purchasing a 2026 BMW X5 Plug-In:
think very carefully before doing so.
