We decided to visit Autumn Lake at 12noon Saturday 12.2.23 to start my birthday weekend off. We were not greeted immediately upon entry to the bar area despite four staff doing things close by and only two guests being seated at that point in time. There was no flight or tasting info on the bar. I looked at the full bottle menu while we waited to be acknowledged. We then checked in for our reservation and were told where our table was. Still, no information on anything whatsoever. While we got situated at our table I looked at their website to see if I could find the wine flight info. No. We go to the bar and basically say "How does this work? You offer flights? What is your offering?" She then fished a wine flight placard out from behind the bar and puts it in front of us. Very limited. I like dry reds. I had one choice and it was a 3 wine flight. The flight is served in plastic cups with lids, that then go in a paper tray of sorts with your wine glass laid down in it. I honestly could not believe my eyes. First, super wasteful given they are all one time use items. Second, ruins the experience entirely. This wasn't worthy of a wine enjoyment experience in both of our opinions. I felt like I was in a cafeteria. It cheapened the experience and was simply weird. I did not care for the Cab or Chambourcin at all. They tasted of fumes and the metal they were fermented in. The Blaufrankisch was drinkable. I got hit with heartburn immediately while drinking these wines. I never get heartburn. It was my birthday so I wanted to stay and relax. There was another red on the menu that I wanted to give a try but they don't offer glass sales and they only offer one red flight that you cannot customize. They have taps on the wall behind the bar too. Not sure what those are for. So, we left a mere 60 minutes later. I never visit a winery without buying at least 1-2 bottles. I love wine. I typically purchase a 1/2 or whole case. I purchased nothing today. I honestly don't get all of these good reviews. We will not be back. read more

Down Home Red was a bottle I bought without a sip to taste. Fearless and no regrets! It was tasty and has less of an acidic sour aftertaste most reds have. I'd gladly buy another. My friend had the Down Home White and it was drier, a little more tart. During late Fall 2020 year, they had fire pits (beware of smoke) seats and picnic tables in both sunny or shade areas. There isn't a cover cost and a lunch truck was on site. My group of friends had a table reserved in advanced. Everything was super easy and covid friendly. Staff kept it clean & clear. We brought food to munch on and just hang out. Although, I did buy a lunch truck sandwich. I really look forward to going back when it warms up outside again (covid pending). read more

This is a gorgeous location next to a lake fed by local stream through the surrounding woodland. My brother and his wife took my girlfriend and I here while we were in town for my cousin's wedding. The inside and outside deck was full but they had additional seating around individual fire pits outside as well and we secured one. They were mostly propane but a few were bring your own firewood and they may have had firewood for sale on site. It was a tad chilly in the 50s but with the fire pit and our jackets we were comfortable. Everyone enjoyed their wine selection. The only downside was we could not do a tasting due to there being an event that day, which was why the indoor seating was taken up. We were, however, able to order flights to make our own tasting. I highly recommend this winery and will return in the spring through fall if I'm back in the area visiting. read more

This is a rwalky nice laid back place. Its located within a short drive from most South Jersey areas. During the Summer they have a lot of great local talent as well as different food truck vendors. My family went this weekend and the views by the lodge are beautiful. There's a large lake (of course) that supplies your view when sitting in the lodge, on the patio, or mildly on the side by the small theater for live music performers. The selection of wine fits a small flier, but they have practically something for everybody. The employees inside are friendly and let you taste whatever you'd like. You can buy wine by the bottle or by the cup, though I suggest you find something you like and buy by the bottle. My mother got the Chardonnay (2021; $22) and I fell in love with their Down Home cranberry ($17). The only issue was, the food truck broke down and we didn't know about it when we got there. By the time we got food delivered to us, it was back up again. So, I suppose make sure you bring food or snacks as a back up in case there's an issue when you get there. Also, I suggest bringing something to fend off bugs in the summer months; I can imagine that lake supplying a lot of real estate for mosquitos. read more

Such a great winery at an amazing location! I went here on a Sunday afternoon with my girlfriend. I called ahead to make a reservation the day of, which I would recommend to do. They have a ton of great selections to choose from. We selected their Down Home red wine, which is one of their sweet wines. The winery sits near a lake, which makes for some spectacular views! This was my second time here, and both times they have had live music. Also, they allow you to bring your own food too, which is a really nice feature not all wineries offer! Relaxing atmosphere, great scenery all around, great for family get-togethers, children friendly, dog friendly, couples, girls day out, friendly staff, wines are made there. We had at least 4 different wines and they all were nice! They only had 1 food truck, but good food ( chicken fingers (4) and fries $12.99 ) we brought food also. Picnic benches outside, you look out onto the beautiful lake out in the pines, plenty of parking. If you are handicapped it could be challenging outside, but there is plenty of room inside, they have a large great room! First time here and love this place. The grounds are beautiful, the staff were incredibly friendly, and the wine was delicious. From the street you'd never know how much this winery has to offer. They have a brand new tasting room set to open tentatively around the holidays that will take this place to the next level, with beautiful views of the vineyards and lake. The property and building are beautiful. It says they're dog friendly but only outside so I went inside for a tasting while my husband stayed outside with the dogs. There was only one person working the tastings and she spent all of her time chatting with two women and didn't even acknowledge my presence for what seemed like an eternity. When she finally noticed me, my husband was sitting alone for so long, he started texting, wondering where I was. I honestly had a hard time finding a wine I liked. They weren't bad but the reds were light bodied and whites were bland. I finally found one I liked (I think it was a red blend) and it was close to $40 for a bottle. Beautiful Winery set lakeside on a hill top! The views are amazing especially this time of year with the fall foliage. They happened to be having a fall festival when we visited which was unexpected and a nice surprise. Food trucks and activities lakeside. We chose to go up the the actual winery since it was raining. Once we entered the winery we were immediately greeted by the friendly staff and welcomed up to the wine tasting area. The gentleman working behind the bar was great! He had us laughing and was very knowledgeable in all the wines and knew exactly what to recommend to all of us. We were a party of 6 and even though though there were no tables to accommodate us there was a table with 3 chairs he offered us so that we could at least relax and enjoy our wines. We walked down to the food trucks and grabbed some food and brought it back up to the winery to enjoy which was a great addition. The wines were great tasting and priced appropriately. They even have house wines on tap and growlers you can purchase and take with you. The sangria is made to order and comes in a huge pitcher. Such a hidden gem and we are so happy we found this place. Just had the celebration of my grandson's first birthday and it was here! Until last week I'd never heard of this place, but my daughter and son in law had and for that I'm very grateful for. We arrived a little early to help with set up, as we pulled up , my wife and I were greeted with a picturesque view of the vineyard nestled around a small lake with the clubhouse on the hill overlooking the lake and vineyards. There are a variety of areas to relax and enjoy the day, we occupied the patio attached to the main building, it overlooks the lake and was afforded the view of the outdoor stage ( live music was playing) as well as the tables lining the tiered slopes, the lakeside area has its own stage, tables and parking lot the ability to host simultaneous activities that don't clash is a plus. The negative side is minimal, only 2 restrooms with portapotties scattered around. Outside alcohol is prohibited, but they have a good selection of wine from the vineyards available by the glass and bottle, tastings are offered so you can find the vintage for you. I found a very nice red that was finished in bourbon barrels ( brought one home) You can bring food or take advantage of the food truck on site ( not sure if they rotate trucks). Staff was very attentive and accommodating ( first birthday parties can be very stressful for the staff) they took everything in stride. As the day ended we finished with a walk through the vineyards. Overall a great day and worthy of a return read more

Let me start by staying that Autumn Lake Winery is beautiful. As you drive in, you drive up a small hill where the Winery sits. I heard about the view of the lake so before going into the building we took a look at the lake and the view is amazing. From that view we saw the great seating they have outside and the field where they host larger events. As we walked into the building we saw how beautiful it was. Very nicely decorated and a nice spot in the corner for entertainment. However, the reason I go to Wineries is for the wine and for me it fell short. I don't like sweet wines so I limited myself to the dry red flight. I thought the Pinot Noir and Sangiovese were too light bodied for my taste. The Chambourcin was good but a bit too much of that end bite. I also was curious if they grow their own grapes or import them. I didn't receive an answer as the server didn't know, which I thought was knowledge a server should know. I'll try again to sample some of their award winning selections. read more

Really great location and vibe right on the lake. Really loved it until a couple guys threw a hay bale on the fire and then left. The owner showed up cursing and threatened to call the cops. We explained that the guys that started the fire left and the owner was still yelling at us. It was really unfortunate because we took care of the fire and he didn't seem to be able to differentiate the between offenders and those that were rectifying the situation. Other than that, beautiful location, beautiful lake. Truly an autumn wonderland. But unfortunately ruined by a belligerent owner. read more

We had a private event here which was held on their deck. It is a beautiful winery with a very courteous staff. My problem is if you rent a deck space it can always rain. It's a chance you take. However, they should have at least plastic to come down on the sides. The deck was soaked and the wind blew the wind in sideways so we couldn't use every table. We had a mind set on Sharrott Winery but due to them not taking walk-in we had to look at other options. This winery was about 15 mins away and had good reviews so we figured we would give it a shot. I'M SO GLAD WE DID! This place was so beautiful and so spacious. We walking right in around 2:30 and it wasn't crowned. Everyone had on mask and the guest where spread apart. The prices were great too. I did the 12 sweet wine flight. It gave 3 wines and a glass to keep. All the flavors where amazing. We walked the grounds and it was so beautiful. There is a trail around the lake. People brought their own chairs and sat right by the lake. There are tables/chairs there that are provided by the winery but you will have a lot more options of locations if you bring your own chairs. The had a guy who was placing music and singing. It was a mixture of newer music and some great oldies. It was a great way to spend a Saturday. Also they do take reservations! read more

Dont judge this place by your first impression. They dont have a designated tasting room. It really just looks like a couple of sheds with a bar on the patio for tasting. I'll admit I was a little turned off when I pulled up, but I am so glad I chose to stay and check them out. All of their wines are very well made. You can easily tell by the complexity of the flavors that they are very particular in what is an acceptable wine and only put out a product they are proud of. There were a few wines that were not for me (I prefer dry wines), but even so I cant deny the fact that they are done very well. A few on the wines in particular that stood out to me were the illustra, traminette (this was very well done -- different than other traminettes), blaufrankisch (not a common find in NJ) and the halcyon. Myself and the group I was with are all huge fans of chambourcin and one of the reasons we love NJ wineries. I have had all of the chambourcin wines in the region and can easily say that Autumn Lake's is the best and most unique version of the wine I have ever had. The best way I could describe it is you get fruit forward almost tart taste up front followed by the typical earthy / dirt taste of a chambourcin which balances it out really well. It's an incredible wine that anyone who loves chambourcin needs to try. read more

This is a newer winery to the area. We stopped by yesterday 4/23/17 for the first time. We were pleasantly surprised! They were a little difficult to find, the tasting area is actually behind the nursery at the same address. One of the owners (Lauren) said they are working on getting more clear signage, so when going there go to exactly to the address and drive to the back towards the red building. They are also working on getting a formal tasting room built, but for now they have a cozy area where the wines are made for the tasting. We tried the Pinot Gris, Viognier, Riesling, and Chambourcin. All of the wines were fantastic! Lauren took us through their process, showed us where the wines were made and stored. A truly delightful experience. We had an engaging discussion on wines of the area and outside of New Jersey. My boyfriend and I have competed the Garden State Wine Growers Association Passport, so we have been to every winery in New Jersey and Autumn Lake is in my top 10. They will be releasing more wine in the coming months. I cannot wait to go back and sample more. I strongly recommend you stop by this charming winery, the wines are delicious; the owners personable and make you feel like you are old friends. I can't wait to go back! read more
