The service was wonderful and personable and the food was great! I got the Reuben. I can't remember our waitresses name but she was lovely and got me this latte for free when I did not like my potato salad. The vibe itself is a mom and pop diner style breakfast and lunch place. It got pretty packed around noon.

It's where you come for consistent comfort food. The Cuban was quite delicious. I didn't know how extensive their coffee flavors were. Always a plus.

Breakfast was pretty good here! I love diners and this is a great addition to our neighborhood. Loved my Good Morning Platter. Not super salty which is great for those who are looking for lower sodium options. My dad did say his coffee wasn't very hot, but didn't want to complain. Overall, good experience and I will be returning!

Avalon just delivers every time. After a disastrous Christmas dinner at an overprice, terrible steakhouse, it was nice to get back to earth with lunch at Avalon. The food is fabulous, perfectly prepared and service is friendly and fun. Oh, and bring your appetite.

    Meatloaf and mashed potatoes

Ashamed to say, it has been so long since we had been over this way. Avalon diner has all of your down-home favorites cooked just like your grandma would make it. They also adjusted their hours to accommodate dinner on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. Those nights they're open until 7 PM! The rest of the week and weekend they close at 2 PM. My husband opted for one of the specials which was meatloaf and mashed potatoes. He asked to customize his mashed potatoes, a little bit with some shredded cheddar cheese, and a side of sour cream. One of the few restaurants we've ever been to that actually accommodated it. Meatloaf is moist with good seasoning and mashed potatoes were well done. I opted for the Montecristo with fries, as I mentioned before their fries are perfect! Sandwich was really good. I love that it's served with blackberry preserves as it gives a little bit more hardiness to the very sweet dish that it is. if you were in the Winter Garden area would highly suggest that you check them out! It's a great locally, owned and operated business !

Checked out several places in the area for brunch on a Sunday morning. Not an easy feat with churches letting out around that time. Thankfully found this one on Yelp and really had no wait. The place was packed, inside and out, and our party of 4 stood at the hostess station outside waiting unsuccesfully for someone to notice us. A couple sitting at a nearby table suggested that we just grab the open table outside and seat ourselves. They said they were regulars and that usually works out fine. Sure enough, within about 10-15 minutes, a server came by asking us what we wanted to drink. There were about 5 or 6 tables outside. Not sure how many were inside but it appeared to be a small place and super packed, so no thank you. The weather held up, we enjoyed a nice breeze and it wasn't too hot so sitting outside worked out perfectly for us. The omelettes were fairly basic and really didn't have much seasoning on them. Same goes for the home fries. The serving size was ample and filling. If you are avoiding bread, you can order a serving of sliced tomatoes as a replacement, which is a nice option. I would visit this place again but probably not on a Sunday morning.

Local diners are the backbone to so many neighborhoods. When you are too lazy to cook or just want that quintessential American vibe, Avalon Diner is where it's at. Breakfasts here are our favorite. There is something about that delicious crunch of their hash browns that cannot be matched! Omelettes and sandwiches are on point. Whether you are coming in to sober up from a late night or dressed in your Sunday best, you are greeted warmly with a "what can I get you, hon"

I checked in when I arrived, and was told I could sit anywhere in the bar for faster service. I first sat in the show kitchen area, thinking that was a food bar. However, after not getting acknowledged, I moved to the main bar. My bartender (who goes by the letter H) greeted me and told me the tequila fix (13 dollars) was a good drink. Indeed it was with an ample amount of tequila, watermelon, and lime. It was quite refreshing and sweet. I took the popular pork chop dish (24 dollars), which was a big chop glazed in brown butter. It was pretty tender and flavorful with the glaze, and the romesco sauce made the flavors even better. It did get a bit gamey at the end, but I still enjoyed it. The vegetable was a generous amount of various colored carrots, which were thick and a bit crunchy. It had to be cut with a knife, but it was delicious, that the equestrian in me had a happy whinny. For dessert, the suggested cheesecake (9 dollars) was a winner as it was moist and fluffy, providing a sweet end. I saved some for home to enjoy the next day. My bartender was friendly and helpful. She was pretty busy, but still had a cheerful and engaging attitude. I also love the vibe as it was social and busy. The music kept the rhythm going, and the dining area is quite open and big. Outdoor dining is available as well. Sixty Vines reminds me of Cooper Hawks, but maybe a bit more upscale and lively. The food and drinks are great and the prices are pretty reasonable. It's a great place to hang out with friends and have some food, wine, and other cocktails. Overall: A

The Southern burger was great, but I tossed off the raw onions as I absolutely hate them, and added the lovely pickled onions from my wife's salad, which gave the perfect amount of flavor and color. Don't you agree? Give me a LIKE if you do !!! The crepe was next level. Delicate crepe, very soft ripe bananas, sauce was not disgustingly sugary, and the vanilla ice cream was smooth and soft, not icy and sweet. Dunno what brand they use, or if they churn the cream fresh in-house, but it made my day.

There are lots of delightful restaurants there (according to yelpers) but many were located downtown and parking was hard to find so we decided to go to Fifth Avenue Streatery since we had driven by and there was lots of parking. All of which the tables are outside on a charming patio with lots of interesting decor. It was 11:30 so the day was pleasant and sitting outside was fine. Not sure how I would feel about that in August. Our waitress was Haley (guessing at the spelling) and she was bubbly and very attentive. The menu wasn't overwhelming and I always think that's a good sign that most of the food is being prepared fresh and not pulled from a freezer. My mom ordered the fish sandwich with tomato and cucumber salad. After ordering the Italian Haley said they were out of beef until the owner arrived so I went for the day's special which was a seafood basket: two pieces of fried fish, four huge shrimp and clam strips. Clam strips are not my favorite but these were very crisp and tasty. It was served with fries and cold slaw. We both agreed the food was very good. I asked for some cocktail sauce and after a few minutes she came back with saying she had to make some. It was fantastic, very horseradish forward which I loved. I am glad we couldn't locate our first two choices since we got to eat at this funky little place and have the best server in all of Mt. Dora.

Sadly, this will be our last visit to a Hash House a Go Go and that is due to a menu item change they are making. I was informed that their S'Mores Mocha will no longer be topped with marshmallow fluff but with just some marshmallows floating in it. That makes no sense to me but we were told they were having a hard time getting the fluff so they are moving to just marshmallows and this is across all stores. That drink was the main reason we would visit every time we were in a city that had one of these restaurants. We would also get one of their massive breakfasts to go with the coffees and we liked all the breakfast options. But that drink was the driver so I won't return. I'd give a lower rating but I hate to do that to the team at this location - they are really great people so if that mocha is of no consequence to you, definitely try this location.

We were less interested in the bingo night and more fixated on getting fed. We decided to sit down at the bar as most of the tables were full with families, couples, and small groups of 4-6 people. We were helped by the bartender who was patient and gave us time to take in the ambience and the menu. We decided to share an appetizer and entree. Amused by the name we decided on the Lush Mush.
