Oct 5, 2025 DMACC held a 50 year anniversary of the hygiene program and broke ground on the new almost 30,000 sq foot dental science building. Eight classmates out of eleven got together to attend the event to represent the class of 1985. To this day I will still swear DMACC's dental hygiene program is one of the best in the country. Class sizes are small and the quality of education intense and strong. DMACC graduates have no problems starting a hygiene career soon after graduation. I have so enjoyed my 40 year career and continue to add to my education almost daily. My one piece of advice, decide on hygiene because you want to help people and keep them healthy. Not for the paycheck you think you deserve. It can be a challenging career at times on the body. And not all patients will appreciate you. But the rewards for me have been incredible and I plan on another 10 years. The clinic offers the surrounding community great hygiene care at very affordable prices. Allow the students longer appointment times, and you are examined by local licensed dentists. It's a win win for area and the students. Thank you DMACC and the instructors.

This is a lovely, small shop with a cozy corner around a fireplace and a big table that looks like it's the perfect place to sit with friends and create beautiful things with a piece of string. There is a nice selection of gorgeous yarns, including some local Iowa sources, although I didn't look too closely (too much yarn in my stash already!). She also carries other knitting/crochet supplies that I look forward to poking around more to see. Of course I ended up buying stuff for a new project, but the best part was chatting with the friendly folks there. I'll definitely be back!
