Hopefully SLH reevaluates and makes them improve or removes them. This is by no means a luxury hotel. Especially the rooms. This is more in line with what you would expect at a cheaper B&B. It's like they spent all their money in the common areas and did a cheap flip in the rooms. NOTHING about the rooms speaks luxury let alone a nice hotel or even above average for that matter. For better or worse I stay at nicer hotels 80-90 nights a year. My review comes from that perspective. Price was close to 260 euros a night at time of booking. I would recommend staying at one of the many rooms above pubs in the area that are both nicer and cheaper. Pros. Great location. Nice seating area in common area. Cons. Rooms. Nothing nice to say except they were clean. Not even a single bad painting on the wall. Bathrooms. Shower was claustrophobic at best. Breakfast. Area was absolute chaos. Could not accommodate number of guests in hotel. Service. No one at front desk for over 10 minutes for checkout at 7:30 am. Had to leave keys and leave.

Its really designed for adults and couples wanting to get away. Most rooms have a balcony looking out onto pastoral scenes. This was by far the most relaxed stay I've had on this trip. Even though you are a stones throw from a bustling tourist town you feel none of that here. I could return and spend an entire week or two here as a base to explore everything southern Ireland has to offer. I hope to be back.

Our room was in the Coach House, a separate building from the hotel. Must stay in Room 1 !!! A beautiful landscaped courtyard lead to our room. Our room was spacious and filled with antique furniture.. I love antiques. We had our private patio space with patio furniture and with the most scenic emerald green views! And views of a field of sheep : ) What was really nice...our huge bathroom. Annnnnd it had heated floors and a heated towel rack, a spacious shower, separate tub, and a vanity table. Appreciated the complimentary book provided regarding the history of the hotel, complimentary water, and bike rentals (wish we had time to utilize the bikes!) The breakfast room was a nice addition. There was a mini buffet ( just a few items like fruit, granola, etc) and a made to order menu. Food was just ok. The hotel does have a high end restaurant- must make reservation, and a casual bar restaurant. Perusing the hotel lobby and adjacent rooms were lovely. Wish we had more time here. Killarney National Park was nearby and within walking distance. We walked to and from and within the entire park, and booked in 11 miles!!! A beautiful space and fun town to visit, near the Ring of Kerry.

It was very reasonably priced and we even got a free night thrown in which was a pleasant surprise! We arrived around 6:30pm on a Tuesday. The pub was busy and the locals were watching us but we had been awake for 27 hours and just wanted to crash so we didn't really care. The woman at the bar greeted us and got us checked in as soon as she finished serving someone. She helped us bring our luggage upstairs (two stories up) and showed us into our room. She was very friendly and made sure we had everything we needed. The room itself was small - just a bed, a stool, and a small bathroom, no other furniture. The bed was comfortable and the ceiling fan was a pleasant surprise. The window in the main room had a blackout curtain you could pull down which was great for going to bed early. The bathroom had a small shower that didn't have room for our own bottles but we made do just fine. The water pressure was amazing. We felt so refreshed after showering and did not feel like we had been up for 30 hours straight at that point. There are five rooms all on the top floor. The breakfast room is on the second floor with no other rooms in use there, so there's a whole floor between you and the bar. Because of that we heard absolutely no noise from the bar, something I was skeptical of when I read the other reviews saying the same thing. The windows are also super insulated and we heard almost no street noise even in the busiest times of the day. I'm a super light sleeper and I had no problems sleeping here. You place your breakfast order the night before by filling out a slip and leaving it at the bar, then you go down at the time you picked in the morning to eat. You can also leave the slip with the chef when you eat in the morning. Chef Norita is an absolute gem. She is so sweet and will chat with you about your trip and where your trip and will offer local tips to enhance your trip which we really appreciated. She is an absolute sweetheart and she's also an amazing chef. We tried a little bit of everything while we stayed here and she knocked it out of the park. The bacon and fresh soda bread are especially delicious. The rooms are cleaned regularly while you're out. We went out to wander our first day and came back a couple hours later to a freshly cleaned room with new towels. We left the windows open and the ceiling fan on to circulate some fresh air into the room and it was so nice to just lay in bed and relax for a bit. We got fresh towels regularly and fresh sheets once as well. It was wonderful to come back to a clean room after a long day exploring. When checking out, just hand the keys to Norita. She will say goodbye and offer to help you with your bags if you need it. We were sad to say goodbye to this place when we checked out! I'm positive I will be back to Killarney again, and when I am I'll make sure to book my stay at Dan Linehan's. This place really is the perfect home away from home.

The location was quite, very close the sites of interest and close enough to walk to town if you want and it had parking included. I'd stay here again if the occasion arises.

My stay included a complete hot Irish breakfast with lots of coffee, eggs and Irish bacon - similar to a fried ham. Mmmm.
