Had a great experience with Avery. They showed up on time, disassembled all of our furniture and packed it very carefully as they made a complete and detailed itemized list. Our new place wouldn't be ready for another week so they stored all of our belongings at their facility for a very reasonable price. It all arrived in the same condition it left, on time and all reassembled. We paid in advance and since they estimated it would take them longer than it did, they refunded us the difference right away. Throughout the process Steve was very helpful and responsive. I'm a bit of an over-organizer so I tend to send way too many confirmation emails, follow ups and questions. Steve answered them all completely and delivered exactly as they promised. I had a great experience with these guys. They showed up on time, were friendly, and handled everything like it was their own. They charge $75 per hour with a three hour minimum plus a $75 travel fee. So basically you're looking at $300 to start your move (plus tip). They offer a discount if you pay cash. read more

i moved with these jokers 3 years ago. and they took 5 hours to clear out a 600sq ft apartment. The move was estimated to be around the 3 hour minimum., They also put a hole through the wall while doing it. Then when the truck arrived at my new place, they extorted money from me. They forced me to pay them cash, for double the original estimate or they would refuse to move my stuff in, they said they'd come help fix the hole put in the previous place - as i had just sold it to new owners - but they never answered the phone once. (Before the move, i even clarified if i could pay with a cheque and they said yes - but i guess they need cash when it turns into extortion). I should have called the police when they forced me to pay cash after holding my furniture. but instead, I'll just post bad reviews whenever i come across one of their ads. Very expensive company. Classes themselves as "premium" but I didn't notice the difference. They broke a few things and overcharged me for the move. Their quote was way less than the actual price. When I was told how much the bill was the owner told me it was my fault because I had so much stuff. I would have agreed if he told me this in the quoting stages. The final bill was about $1500 over the quote. Also, they don't take credit card and informed me that I needed $4500 cash when they arrived otherwise they wouldn't unload. He told me on a Friday night after all the banks were closed. Overall this was a terrible experience and I would not recommend this company to anyone. read more

I've used Avery moving twice now for a within Toronto move (1 bedroom apartment to 1 bedroom apartment) and both times I have been very happy with the service I've received. My most recent move was on May 31st 2011. It was a pretty hot day (30C) and given that I was probably the second or third move of the day I worried about a long slow move with dead tired movers. Because of a problem with the move before mine, the movers did show up late but once they got there they were incredibly fast, efficient and friendly. They loaded up stuff in just under an hour and even gave me a ride to the place I was moving to. At the new place they unloaded and arranged the furniture even more quickly. There was no damage to any of my items in both moves I've had with them, (even my cheap / fragile ikea furniture). They wrapped the items they thought would be at risk in blankets and were careful with all my items. I plan on using avery for my next move. I've had a few bad moving experiences before coming across avery, and think I've finally found reliable movers. read more

STAY AWAY My first experience with them was OK but the second (and last) experience was very disappointing. The move took too long and several things were handled carelessly and damaged. The worst part? The owner told me to replace something that was damaged and that he would reimburse me. He never did. First, he claimed business was bad and that he just couldn't pay me (it was only $100). Then, presumably, business was better but he still never paid. Can't say enough good things about this crew. They arrived on time, and loaded quickly and efficiently. It was a two part move. They took part of the stuff to one address, picked up some stuff there and delivered to a second floor walk up apartment. They put everything where we asked them to, turned furniture on its side so we could clean the bottoms, assembled two beds and a dining room table, and accomplished all that in much less time than we expected. So far the service has been horrible - late to pick up and it has been a month without delivery to Calgary - they may be good for local moves but would not reccommend for long distance. Customer service is not available no one returns your calls I have been calling and emailing for 3 weeks now and they have not returned one of my calls or emails. Very frustrated and angry still not sure when our items will be delivered the pick up was done on September 7th and was supposed to be delivered at the latest September 18th and right now we still have no idea when we will be receiving our things. Try living without a bed, furniture etc for a month not fun. Would not recommend and would never use again!!!!!!!!!!!!! read more

I have a hard time believing any of these favourable reviews are genuine. I chose Avery in mid-March 2014 based on an A+ Better Business Bureau rating. On March 25, 2014 Avery's accreditation was suspended due to an unresolved complaint (not mine.) This can be verified online. Based on an unambiguous photo of every item to be picked up and shipped to me, I was quoted a price I considered reasonable. All this was conducted by email and phone with no contracts, no paperwork, and no insurance certificate issued to me. The shipment turned out to be less than half of what I had anticipated would be picked up so I expected a comparable discount. After the shipment arrived in Toronto, the owner's associate (All-Ways Moving) sent me a one-line email charging me a much higher price and asking for a credit card number. The amount I am being charged (and refuse to pay) has been presented to me without even an invoice detailing how they arrived at this inflated figure (such as weight and volume) and no other documentation or receipts whatsoever. I see from other reviewers that they demand cash when they show up with the goods. This is a shady business owner who is deceitful and calculating. He operates on the outer margins of legality, including outright extortion. He doesn't answer his cell or office phone, his voicemail box is full, and he ignores emails. It's time someone put a stop to the way this unprofessional company does business (i.e. criminality) so I intend to sue them and hope to recover my goods, but who needs the expense and aggravation? Bottom line: DO NOT USE AVERY. read more

I used them in 2009 to move. While the main owner was friendly, some of the other guys working for them were questionable. One guy cracked the door frame of our condo we moved into and then acted like nothing ever happened. For the prices they charge, I expected much better. read more
