So this was a rough experience. We went on a Sunday and it's a small restaurant, so there was about a 30 minute wait, which is understandable. But then, we were sat under a condensating HVAC duct, getting dripped on the entire meal even after moving the table a bit. We ordered, and to be fair, the cinnamon roll was absolutely delightful. But the rest of our food took over an hour to come out, apparently because they were trying to get a 12-top served first. All of the waitresses were milling around the kitchen (which we were right next to) looking distraught because apparently the whole restaurant was waiting on food. When the food finally came out, it seemed like the rest of the family enjoyed their chicken and waffles, chicken and fries, pancakes, eggs, and bacon, so I'll give a star for that and the cinnamon roll. My ribeye, on the other hand, came out a sickly gray (pan wasn't hot enough, meat was wet, rookie move). It tasted meh, I didn't even finish it. Probably a good thing, since it gave me mild food poisoning. There was effort from our server, and some of the food was good, but the long wait for food, getting dripped on the entire meal, and terrible steak that gave me gastrointestinal distress each take away a star, and make it to where I probably won't be back. Also, the big sign outside says all you can eat shrimp, but that isn't mentioned anywhere in the restaurant (not on menus, boards, or mentioned by the server). Stopped in for Fathers Day breakfast and we were disappointed. We have been here several times in the past and both the food and service were great. Not today. We checked in with the hostess and there were like 5 or 6 tables empty but we had to wait 15 minutes to be seated. We finally got our table and then it took the waitress 10 minutes to get our drink order. The waitress had zero pep in her step.. The food came out the sausage tasted like it had been warmed in the microwave and we had to ask for jelly and ketchup. My husband got up and found another waitress to help us. The Manager is at the line yelling for a waitress to come pick the food up at the pass. Overall bad experience, not sure we will be back! read more

Honestly, the breakfast looked delicious. I made the mistake of coming for lunch. To put it simply, this is that relatively bland food menu made for people who have had seasoning and flavor restricted from their diets for health reasons... which is probably why the majority of the patrons were senior citizens at lunchtime. Everything is pretty dry and flavorless, which is good for those people watching stuff like sodium intake. Service was great. Decor was beautiful. Unless I'm up in NB for breakfast, I'm just going to go elsewhere. There's a lot if new places popping up in this area that look more foodie-friendly. read more

The food was subpar, ordered fried clams.....they were overcooked and very chewy. Had to ask for lemon and Tatar sauce. Husband ordered fish and fried shrimp. He too had to ask for cocktail sauce, more like marinara sauce, no horseradish in the sauce. Asked for malt vinegar, they don't have any. Asked or blue cheese dressing for his salad, that they were out of, at 11AM, lunch was just starting. Paid $40-ish dollars for subpar food, bad service. and lack of the waitress caring. Place is really cute. Very open with booths on the side walls. I had the egg, sausage, hashbrowns and toast plate. It looked like every other egg plate I have seen at other breakfast places but while I was eating it the egg was delish and the hash browns and toast and sausage made it all go together very well. The grits are good! This was my goto for when I am wanting some childhood-like grits that don't have cheese or sausage mixed in them! This seems to be the only place that has normal grits. The fried shrimp is good. The Belgian waffle, however is terrible!! I wish I could get my $10.50 back. The whipped butter also isn't real and didn't melt onto the waffle. Plus they offer non-maple syrup so I couldn't even smother them to offset the taste because I do t do high fructose corn syrup. No one should. The hash browns are hit or miss. The service is really great but my waiter should have asked me how I liked the waffle since he said it was his favorite thing on the menu. He didn't but sadly he asked for his tip. OMGEEEE!! This place is absolutely amazing! The food is freshly cooked, my wife loved the green beans! (She is picky about veggies) the chicken is freshly breaded and fried to order, so you have to wait a little for your food to be ready but IT IS WORTH IT! My Belgian waffle combo was delicious, waffle is nice and fluffy, not hard like some places! London, our waitress was attentive and joyful and kept my coffee cup full. Great job London! Lastly, the clam chowder tastes like something you would expect on a coastal city! I highly recommend Avery's Kitchen if you're looking for some down home cookin'! We've heard and read so many positive reviews of Avery's Kitchen so when my wife and I were deciding on where to go for lunch on a Saturday afternoon after playing some spirited games of pickleball, we opted to try Avery's Kitchen. Located in a fairly new cluster of buildings along FM 306 by the Homewood Suites, Avery's Kitchen's interior was pretty basic with a stylistic monogram "AK" dominating the dining area. We were promptly seated and were given a fairly extensive menu. It looks like they serve breakfast all day long. We started out with an order of Onion Rings. My wife then ordered their Fried Shrimp Po Boy served with fries and I ordered the Chicken Fried Chicken with mashed potatoes and gravy and green beans. The onion rings were crispy outside and nice and tender inside. Always hated it when you bite into one and the ring of onion comes out with one bite leaving the breading behind. My wife liked the size of the shrimp that came with her po boy, unlike ones we've had where the shrimp are teeny tiny. The shrimp were cooked right, nice and tender and not chewy. Flavor was good. My dish, however, was just OK. Was hoping for a peppery gravy but theirs wasn't. The chicken was tender and crispy but I always think the peppery gravy is what puts that dish over the top. The green beans were just OK, but not as good as the Gruene beans from Gristmill in my opinion. All in all, a decent lunch but we prefer Gruene River Grill or Gristmill instead. New Orleans expat here. So... I wanted to like this restaurant. There are far too little great creole places around here. I ordered the fish and shrimp with an upgraded soup to gumbo. $24 later I get home with the platter. Shrimp were great. Fish--- meh, I get it. It's hard to get consistent quality fish in Central Texas. But grouper? And then there was the gumbo. I opened it up and thought-- ok, right on, chicken and sausage.... That'll do! but then I saw what looked like pieces of fish in my gumbo. And tiny pieces of shrimp. On further inspection, the fish was imitation crab. What is the deal?? The flavor was ok, but there is a reason why you cook either seafood gumbo OR chicken/sausage gumbo. The sausage flavor overtakes a combo gumbo and it's just weird. I had really high hopes. This might be good for Central Texas, but it is nowhere near good Creole cooking. Big portions, maybe that's why the platters cost so much? read more

First....you have that parking problem running people off.....so they come here to find out if you are worth fighting the parking......and then they see all of the amatuer food photography on BLUE dishware. 50 years consulting in the biz. Just trust me and change the dishware. Hire a GOOD food photographer and present your menu professionally. Name, interior, setting of the retail center....all good. Easy fix.....except for the parking problem. You have to make up for that with the little things. "There is NO blue food". Blue dishware NEVER works. Go WHITE. read more

First person asked for water. She said how many more. Five hands went up. Ok, what do you two want? That's experience! Fluids topped up well and attentive. She's going to wait on me until we all have a patina. I'm coming back! I got a ginormous well baconed burger. It was perfectly cooked. Bun was good and slightly over sized to the patty, but that was OK. I did t want fries, so I ordered a bowl of soup to go with it. It was well worth the cost! Great gumbo.
