I rented on a Wednesday. I had a reservation to pick up at 1pm, arrived at 12:45, and they were trying to lock up. They told me they would be back in an hour. It was over 100 degrees and I had been dropped off, and there was nowhere to wait. To start with the car was dirty, smelled like old cigarettes, and was electric, which was not what I requested. It took 45 minutes and $25 to charge every 200 miles. on Thursday the key fob started to give a low battery alert. I called and they told me not to worry about it, the car would continue to function. Friday, they car would not unlock due to the fob being dead. I tried to call, and got only voice mail. The 800 number told me to talk to the location nearest me, but they were unable to help because it was an Uber rental. I continued trying to call, but could reach only their voice mail. The location is 90 miles from my house, so just popping in to talk to them was not an option. The contract was due to expire the following Wednesday, and it took 7 calls with corporate to have someone come to tow the unusable car. Mind you, I was only able to use the car for 2 days of the 7 days I paid. I have now been charged for a second week rental, even though the car is no longer in my possession. read more

They don't deserve any stars . They told me to come in to rent a car . I got there at 5:02 , and they close at 5:00 , They had already lock the door , but they were inside and both employees acted busy . I knocked on the window and stood outside for 15 minutes . They could see me but never approached to tell me that i was too late , as if they were enjoying the moment . If they had not told me to come in , i would not have gone there . Later I was told that the owner just told them to ignore us . Who runs a business like that ? Based on over charges that i read from others , and their treatment of their customers , and customers to be , I would never rent from these guys . I rent car is pretty regularly. Came to the site no one is here for dropping off a vehicle I have to track people down. On pick up went pretty smooth however again when people are sitting around as employees while they're trying to check people in that is not customer service. On top of this I left three drink containers in the car and was told I would be charged a $250 charge for excessive trash.generally, at all the other places I am told that this is normal trash and they just throw it away as part of their cleanup process. We rented an SUV for a week long vacation last week. We used Avis because my husband's company gave us a discount, we usually use other rental car companies closer to where we live in Roseville. I do not recommend this company because we noticed after picking up the the vehicle that it had almost bald tires and it needed an oil change. When we returned it, the man saw a hair that appeared to be a pet hair on the floor in the back seat. He told us that he would charge us $250 to have the car cleaned, or we could take it down the street and vacuum it ourselves! My husband not wanting a confrontation, had us take it and vacuum it before returning it again. We did not bring any animals into the car, if that was a pet hair, it was brought in on someone's shoe perhaps. We rent vehicles for vacation regularly and will Never use Avis again. This was akin to extortion. I only wish I had taken photos, but didn't think of it at the time. read more

I had rented a car here six months ago, and it was just ok. A few days ago I rented a car for new years and the New Owner, Mike, has made increasable changes. The office was very clean and inviting. The car I received was very reasonably priced and really clean. The owner was very nice and helpful; he actually seamed like he cared about what I needed in a car and wanted to make sure me and my family was safe. I told him we were going to Tahoe, I had reserved a Full Seize car and Mike switched me to a 4 wheel drive car so my family and I would make it safely to the snow. For now on the Citrus Heights Avis is the only place I will rent a car from. Thanks Again Mike! read more

My very first time renting a car from them was back in August of 2015 I got a 2015/2016 ford mustang and it was in great shape and it made me have a great experience so I wanted to come back because it was cheap only $35 per day even with that nice nice mustang and of course you must fill the gas tank back up to full. I rented a few more times in 2016. Only rating four stars because one of the ford fiestas i got the turn signals and the brake lights including the brake light in the window was out. That was very scary and made me paranoid my whole trip and I felt very unsafe, but they did give me a discount thankfully to make up for that mistake. Rating four stars because of that incident, but still happy with the service. I will recommend people here. read more

Today was my first time attempting to rent a car from this company. I'm unbelievably disappointed, I made the reservations online and although I read the entire READ THIS SECTION I must have missed the part where they MAY run a credit check I have no credit as I'm a pay in full kind of person. I was informed that because of my lack of credit they wouldn't rent me a car. Mind you I walked to this location from my home which is located a mile and a half down the road with my 5 year old and I'm 7 1/2 months pregnant, the part that blows me away is the women behind the counter didn't offer me a ride home nor a phone book to find another car rental place. So I rented a car last week (1:30pm Sep 24) from you guys. I am 19 years old and I was using the college rental offer (which allows 18 years old and over to rent with a college ID). The two gentlemen who were working the desk that fine morning told me that I cannot rent a car unless i am 21. They also told me that I would have to call customer service to get any sort of refund. I had paid in advance online and the system allowed the rental given my age so you can imagine my surprise when they told me they weren't giving me a car or a refund. Thankfully, using my 16 years of quality education, I searched through the Avis terms of agreement and discovered the paragraph where it said I could rent the car. I showed the stately gentlemen and they looked it over and agreed finally they would rent me a car, claiming they had never heard of this before. And it doesn't end here! The manager then tried to make excuses as to why normally they couldn't give me the car, saying that I'd usually have to use the Avis in Davis, which not only is untrue (offer for all Avis locations) but also made no sense as there isn't an Avis in Davis. I ain't no Karen so I just said "ok" to everything and got the car before the manager could give me more bs. The guy working the desk seemed to genuinely not know and was nice about it when I showed him the contract, but the manager (guy on the older side if that helps y'all know who it was) was from the getgo uncooperative, didn't say sorry or anything, just started with the excuses as soon as he realized that I could rent the car. This 1 Star is not directed toward the workers, just the manager, as it is his responsibility to ensure his staff are up to date on offers and when a mistake is made to accept it and be more cooperative about it. The last thing I wanted to hear was excuses when I breathed the huge sigh of relief that I could actually get the car and I wouldn't have to deal with customer service and take a train and 2 buses back to Davis (almost 3 hrs by public transportation). I hope those gentlemen have a nice day but please next time try to do better. I agree it could have been worse; they could have kept denying me the car even after I showed I was right; I am grateful that didn't happen. Mistakes are made all the time but how you respond to making one is what matters. Given that Avis is far more expensive than other companies such as enterprise (btw enterprise had great customer service when I rented a few weeks ago), I see no reason to ever use Avis again and I wouldn't be surprised if others feel the same. read more

Had no clean cars available except SUV's which would cost more to rent. After check in and walk around with car noticed tail light was not working. DO NOT RENT A CAR FROM THESE PEOPLE!!!!! I just returned a car that I rented for two days for a short road trip, and upon inspection, they claimed that there were pet hairs in the car, and that I could either take it and get it cleaned, or they would clean it for a fee of 250.00 dollars!! I don't have any pets, and was not even around any pets. They rented me a car that already had pet hairs in it, and then tried to charge me for it. Not only that, but there were about 10 white hairs on the floor in the back seat, and this is what they were trying to charge me $250.00 for! I have rented from other car places, and they never care about anything like that because they vacuum and clean their cars when they are returned anyway. I think that they looked in the car, saw how clean I kept it, and decided that they wanted to get me to vacuum it for them! And if I wouldn't vacuum it, then they would charge me $250. Win win for them! They were horribly rude, and did not care whatsoever about doing honest business. I went and vacuumed the car, and when I brought it back they said that I missed some hairs, but that they would let it slide this time! So basically, they rented me a car with cat hairs in it, made me clean it for them, said I did a bad job, but that they would graciously let it slide this time. They are a completely shady, dishonest company who will try whatever scheme they can to steal your money. This location doesn't even deserve ANY stars!!!! The manager is RUDE, NASTY, UNPROFESSIONAL AND SCAM ARTIST!!!! I have a Uber rental in which I was told by several reps and it located in the fine print of the agreement that NO DEPOSIT will be charged. This morning my card was attempted for $245 instead of $176. Manager claims that it was for deposit. And told me that I needed to pay $245. I asked him if it was for deposit than why did they charge me $200 the first tome instead of 176$ and than he charged it saying I needed to have $200 available. When I asked him to explain to me why it says on AVIS WEBSITE AND UBER WEBSITE AND CUSTOMER SERVICE FOR AVIS that there is NO DEPOSIT!!! He told me that he was going to hang up on me. I never raised my voice or cussed him out (In which he rightfully deserved). I asked him to charge my card while I was on the phone he told me could not do that. I was quoted $372 for a weekly rental on the phone when I called to change my daily rental to a weekly rental. I've done this before with rental car companies so I didn't feel I needed to get the quote in writing. When I returned the car to them I checked my bank account before I left the office to find they charged me $1361 for the car. I was outraged and the lady in the office told me I would have to call the 800 number. Conveniently their "system was down" so they couldn't help me. When I was almost in tears explaining to the lady that they just took my mortgage payment, she reduced the rate to $685 and said that was the best she could do. Still far from $372 I called the 800 number again the next day and they refused to honor the quote I got on the phone. This is not a reputable company. I wish I had never rented from them and I will not make that mistake again. Not to mention the car I got had someone else's garbage in it. Cleaning their vehicles, keeping their word, or making their customers happy are clearly not important to this company. read more

Hubby and I rent cars from Mike and Jill rather often, and we have ALWAYS been so pleased with the friendliness, excellent customer service, and willingness to make whatever issue arises work out for us. Yesterday, I had a car reserved; brought first car back due to poor running conditions. No problem, but after geting the second car 1/2 mile from the shop, the rpm was all the way up to 5 1/2 and sounded like a motorcycle, so I took it back. Heather got me into an SUV which worked like a champ. Not our first choice by the way coz of gas. I accidentally kept the keys to that car in my pocket, and was asked by Heather to return the keys when I was already in Davis. I said I couldn't do that as my day was finally under way and was expected in Alameda in an hour and was already delayed due to 2 malfunctioning cars. Poor thing was as frustrated as I was, but kept her professionalism and not a bit of rudeness directed my way. I returned the car this morning to Jill, and again, nothing but smiles and courtesy. (no apologies however). We will continue to use Avis/Budget here in Citrus Heights as long as Mike and Jill own it. Great "old school" service. read more

I was extremely disappointed with my experience with the owners, Mike and Jill. I had rented for a long road trip and there was no windshield fluid..in town it may have not been such a big deal but with freeway travel it becomes a big deal. This was minor in contrast to the disappooint when I returned my vehicle, I was informed by Jill at the beginning that should I need to extend my rental that she would work with me to keep my costs as low as possible, she did not stand by her word. When I arrived to retun my vehicle she was argumentative, not willing to look at other cost options and rushing to get my contract closed as she the only one in the office. I ended up paying more than a monthly rental for 2.5 weeks of a rental. read more
