And hospitality just amazing- we have such fond memories of this place. I would highly recommend it to any campers heading to Rotorua- dont bother with the campistes there in the town centre and head out here to Ngongotaha instead- bliss!

Maybe its not popular to bring thru the money needed for the upgrade. The price is good and relevant for what it is. I wouldn't be happy paying more though. The pools could have done with one being a little hotter, there seemed to be very little difference between the two hotter ones so I just stayed in the hottest one the whole time. The main pool will be popular in Summer for the campground. I don't think I would go back when I think other hot pools in the North island are much better.

It was great to find a spot near a picnic table to enjoy a meal w/a btl of wine in pretty much my own solitude and then venture to the thermal pools for an after-dinner soak under the stars! It was a nice quiet stay and the check-in process was very expedient. The staff was also very nice. I did not have a res here, just popped in and they were able to accommodate me immediately. They even recommended a place nearby for me to grab a burger and explained how to navigate the grounds and the hours of the pools. Very nice and affordable stay in Rotorua!

Very neat clean tidy motor camp…read more Original Art Deco cabins and ablution blocks, all in great condition. Camp sites have well maintained hedging between them and water/power at every site. Very friendly welcome by owner. Few minutes walk to the beach. Not actually in Rotorua - about 10km away. But still on the lake. Closest town is Ngongotaha - just a few hundred metres down the Road. Cute little town with flowering baskets and a great cafe.

My favorite Hostel in the world…read more 1) It's just plain classy with it's Art Deco interior, balcony overlooking the center of town, and private lounge upstairs above the madness. The rooms are also more than passing with sinks in each room. 2) The landlady is hysterical and a realist. Very friendly, able to answer every question, and more than accommodating. 3) THE BIG ONE, the Location. You can't beat it. Across the street information center with free WiFi. Pub downstairs, clubs down the street. Waterfront around the corner. Everything else is on the block or one block down. I wish I could have stayed here multiple nights, but had to move on. Whakatane Hotel, you rocked my socks off.
